What happened to me this year sef just get as e be.

So I was finally making N25k daily from my website and saved more than N1m and decided to hire a professional SEO company to handle my seo so that I can rank for more keywords and make more money. My target is to make 100k+ daily which is actually what my competition make.

The SEO company charged N150k per month and on the first month we found out that Google had penalized my site because of a Yoast plugin issue. With the Yoast plugin new update they was an option which was usually turned off by default but was on with the new update and thus pages were created automatically using images and no content. Coincidentally Google's new algo or whatever just came out and in it included a rule against pages with only images. And thus I was bleeped.

You can read more about the Yoast issue here https://charlesfloate.co.uk/yoast-mess-up. Many people were affected by this issue. If you go through the comments you will see one guy complaining about how he went from $1,000 per month to $100 because of his drop in traffic.

Also the seo company discovered that for some reason my backlinks created to my website were being removed so now I had to pay for on-site seo and also backlinks. To cut the long story short I spent all my savings trying to resolve this issue and I am still working on building more backlinks.

Daily income has gone down to N5k-N10k daily and yes I am royally bleeped because I have to fuel my gen and run it for 24 hours as we barely have power here. Nepa did not even blink the light throughout the weekend and as I write this the generator is on and making noise. Data, feeding, diapers, baby food etc sef dey there but we are managing.

I don't even know what to call this one. Whether bad investment or simply bad luck but thought to share.

By the way, based on the kind of person I am due to the low traffic I was getting and free time I got I used that spare time to build 3 new websites and now I am working on building them to profitability. Man never back down cool
What kind of websites do you build?

WAT IS PLAYING OUT IN ABUJA IS A REFLECTION OF THE REALITY ON GROUND WHICH IS SIMPLY EXPLAINED THUS......

1. ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD DEVOID OF RIGGING AND WITH SENSIBLE, EDUCATED VOTERS, THERE IS NO WAY IN THIS WORLD AND IN THE WORLD BEYOND THAT A BUHARI WOULD DEFEAT EVEN A STONE, TALK MORE OF AN ATIKU. THIS IS CORROBORATED BY THE FACT THAT MOST ONLINE VOTING PROCESSES CONDUCTED BETWEEN THESE TWO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN FAVOUR OF ATIKU, SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE ONLINE SPACE IS DOMINATED BY SENSIBLE, EDUCATED ANONYMOUS PEOPLE WHO GENUINELY RENDER THEIR VOTES DEVOID OF ANY FORM OF MANIPULATION WHATSOEVER, WHEREAS, THE REAL VOTING ITSELF IS MAJORLY DOMINATED BY A SIZEABLE NUMBER OF MALAMS, ALMAJIRIS, BRAINWASHED ISLAMIC FANATICS IN THE NORTH, MANIPULATED ELECTORAL AND SECURITY OFFICIALS, MANIPULATED VOTERS E.T.C

2. ABUJA BEING A NORTHERN TERRITORY BUT CONSISTING OF MOSTLY ENLIGHTENED NORTHERNERS, AS OPPOSED TO THE VASTLY UNEDUCATED AND BRAINWASHED ALMAJIRIS AND MALAMS IN THE OTHER NORTHERN STATES HAS BEEN ABLE TO LAY CREDENCE TO MY FIRST POINT ABOVE... WHICH IS THAT THERE IS NO WAY IN THIS WORLD THAT BUHARI WOULD BE ABLE TO DEFEAT ATIKU IF AND ONLY IF A MAJORITY OF THE 'ACTUAL' VOTERS WERE EDUCATED, SENSIBLE AND UNMANIPULATED ELECTORATES.

AND MY SAD BUT TRUE VERDICT IS THAT ME AND U THAT IS READING THIS MAY NEVER LIVE TO SEE THE NIGERIA OF OUR WISH AND DREAMS IN OUR LIFETIMES IF THIS SCENARIO PLAYING OUT CONTINUES EVERY FOUR YEARS OF ELECTION...SAD BUT TRUE.

bro, everybody in the company does not have to know the vision of the company. who the Bleep cares about the vision of another mans dreams ? do they tell the janitor and security guard the vision of the company ? the only people who they embed the vision of the company into are top executives and managers of people. IT guys are geeks who dont care about that. and the company knows that. IT guys are hired based on the strength of their knowledge and thats it. then they have IT managers who tell them what applications they are to work on. you must be crazy if you think they tell a bunch of socially awkward IT geeks the direction of the company. you are hired to do software and thats it. thats the problem with people like you, you have never worked in america so you come here to spew rubbish lmao

you dont understand what you are talking about. in companies they have people who have the vision of where the company is going and how to drive it forward. these are the business managers. and then they have the IT guys who are not concerned about where the company is going or what the companies goals are. there job is simply to create applications as directed to them. this is where the 14 year old will be. why is that hard for you to grasp ? have you worked in an american company before ? they have division of labor and each person plays his role. it is not the job of the IT guys to solve the serious challenges of the company. they are simply there to code and program and create software applications. can you understand this concept ? or are you just so used to nigerian companies that you cant comprehend how things are done in america ? and in case you are confused here is a day in the life of a software engineer. they have no contact with management. they are not in managerial roles.

You see that crap in bold that you scribbled up there? You had better go back and edit it before some persons will regard your education as a waste or better still if that's how you practically reason, better go back and ask for a refund of all your tuition fees from whatever institution you graduated from because it's of no use doing this back and forth argument with you.

How can someone who sees himself as educated (as at now you're beginning to entertain doubts that you're) ever think such, so if you own a company now, you'll readily employ people who do not buy into/are
not concerned about the vision/direction of your company. And tomorrow when that company folds up, you begin to blame unseen forces for your misfortunes. Now ask yourself this, even if you were an HR person interviewing a potential employee that is prospecting for a job, and such a person utters such nonsense, you'd likely go ahead to bring that person into the company to ruin it...right?

Again take another second and re-read that second part in bold, another nonsensical thought from you. Do you even give yourself a minute to think before you rush to type these fails?

If i were to ask you this...What is the role of a CTO in any software/tech company? Is the CTO a management role or not in a software/tech company? Yes/No? What is the qualification of the person that will likely hold such a role in any company(anywhere in the world - unlike you i don't restrict my thinking to any locality in particular). Maybe you should just google the Job descriptions/qualifications of a CTO since you know how to use YouTube very well and get proper education.

PS: For someone who claims knowledge about American tech companies (as long as you can search them on YouTube to look for random videos created by random people). I'm highly disappointed in the things you're spilling on this platform. Nairaland doesn't deserve it!

bro, IBM has several departments. The little 14 year old software genius will not be placed in the business solving department. He will be in the department where software engineering-coding-programming is done. you do know IBM makes computers right ? and why are we talking about IBM, they say the kid works for google.

and if you are curious I can show you several teenage boys on youtube who can program anything you tell them to. geniuses who are like 13 year olds making all kinds of apps and complicated computer software systems and robotics
Google or IBM - What's the difference? One thing we all know is they're both solving serious challenges and none of those challenges are caused by Software issues. Rather Software is the tool they're using to solve the real issues. And at the heart of those challenges is the one that is "Business driven" because they are profit making organizations.

Oh please! You just love to beat a dead logjam and you're quite ridiculous. So you think i just heard of YouTube today? I've previously worked in Business Development with a tech firm that ran a training programme for kids/teens (boths boys and girls) annually. So find something else to say as it seems you can't educate me better than I already know.

rubbish. these type of skills you are born with. they dont teach these type of skills. these type of skills are best witnessed in teenagers not someone who went to get phd. if you went to get phd and masters it means you suck as a computer software guru. all the giant tech companies were founded by teenagers who dropped out of uni
You want to argue what is indefensible. IBM is a business entity. The problems they're solving are not Software problems but Business problems. And if you lack a thorough understanding of that problem, what are you going to solve?

What are you even saying? The kid says he learnt how to code at age 5. Not solve world problems and Skills are earned through learning. Talent is what comes naturally. If the kid can display such skill at that tender age, then he has the natural talent to be proficient with the skills.

NB: The problems i referred to in the earlier post are not what 5 year olds will just wake up one morning and say they want to solve.

Again, for the teens who dropped out of school, did they ever imply they stopped learning and relearning?
Citing your own example even; Do you know that Bill Gates & Zuckerberg on average still read no less than 50 - 60 new books on different subjects every year?

Now that's how you keep up with education that not attending all the best institutions wouldn't have afforded.

You're an educator right? You just mentioned one point most people will miss. The child still needs time with kids of his agemate. He's gifted in an area but if he's really loved by his family, they'll ensure they provide an environment that'll build his emotional, social and psychological life. BTW, I hope Nigerian parents would look beyond making their children do what they (the parents) want.
I'm not an educator but I come from a family where there are lots of educators including one of my parents. Yes...you're right the kid still needs a lot of ample time to develop along with his own peers. If not his life will never be balanced no matter how genius or naturally talented he is and i believe his parents will never allow such happen to him.

I see your line of understanding but I implore you to go watch the 2016 American movie titled Gifted. You would probably understand better. Just because something doesn't make sense to you as you have clearly stated above does not mean it's not possible. We live in a world where records, new feat and heights are being attained everyday. Is it until you meet him before you believe him? Your focus is also on his pay, have you bothered to check his achievements? Those "experienced programmers" you mentioned, what could they do at his age. A kid like that is going to be easily poached by any top firms in the world. Paying such huge sums could be a way of retaining his services for the org, so other competitors don't get a hold of him.
Shalom brother!
If you actually believe that kid is paid that much money to be working for IBM. Then i see the reason why our inept and incompetent leaders will always keep having their way.

What do you even think they do at IBM? Trying to solve some of the world's complex problems with some kid's toys? The kid may be a genius, but there are several mammoth problems in the world that actually requires an attainment of masters and PhDs to solve. And that kid's brain still has a long way to go to understand all of that.

The simple reason why the editors of the piece may have intentionally added the money part (which is highly doubtful) is psychological because they know we currently live in a material world where people only think of material gains and they''ll definitely get more clicks from readers the moment they see that on the headline story.

There are very few born-geniuses in the world and this young chap is one of them. If you can believe several odd news happening around the world, why can't you believe this? Not everything in the world is black and white; some parts are grey.
Please shut up! Where in my post did i doubt the genius of this kid? Most kids(~99% and this is fact) including African kids are all geniuses by age 5 and this is an experiment that was duly conducted. Where it begins to change is when several environmental factors begin to impact on the child that by the time they're barely adults, the ability to retain such ingenuity is down to just 2%.

PS: He still hasn't learnt anything at that age and there's still a lot he has to learn, unlearn and relearn because life is not all about mathematical coding and logic.

What do you mean by Traditional Orthodox Schooling? If by that you mean "the classroom type of setting where a whiteboard/chalkboard/instructional material is placed in front of you", then you're missing the point.

Schooling entails more than merely impacting methodical instructions via some medium. It should also comprise an integration of sorts with other peers where there is a full scale sociological, psychological and philosophical exchange for one's development.

What gives you the impression that home-schooling that lacks an exchange/interaction which is necessary to bring out the best in any individual because of the competitive nature of the learning environment is the best?

Have you conducted an experiment to prove it is the best. Even the latest tech models for self-learning are still seeking for more refined solutions to bridge the problem of external interactions. Do you really know what an actual conducive environment for learning entails?

It's not in anyway possible. More experienced software programmers with more years in the US are likely earning around $135k - $180k per month. By this, I'm even talking of senior programmers with several years of lots of project experience.

If you do a breakdown, you find that this kid is earning around $100-$110k per month. What significant software projects has he undertaken at this age? The kid's brain is still developing at that age and if this happens to be true by any chance, are the labour laws actually in support of child labour in that country?
