Maybe cold approach would not have been so bad if simps have not abused it.
They make the first investment by approaching and pedestalising, the girl might even act hard to get. Instead of breaking off, they continue following up with her, giving her more validation and expending more resources on her. They then become emotionally hooked, from here simping begins.

This might not be the case for everyone who uses the cold approach, but I don't get the need to be any woman's source of unnecessitated validation.
