Enigma: True small, lol grin

But do you know that in all the time that I've been here, I never got into fights with Roman Catholics until last year?

The cause of the problems was that I explained the facts about the origin of the Bible in ways that contradict the argument of Roman Catholics and some of them turned me into a hate figure. For a long time, I was even begging them that we should not turn the matter into fight. (I can give you links to prove I was begging them not to turn the thing to fight)

Dem nor hear, and here we are! wink

smiley
Lol some days are like that. I actually careless about what people say about the Catholic Church. If I ever reply such post, it's for the benefit of others. Or when the poster is deliberately trying to get us provoked but I try not to insult back.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by SalC: 8:08am On Oct 15, 2013
Enigma: Those arguments or at least the fight aspects are not desirable. In fact, what we are doing is making some of the mistakes and re-fighting the fights of some other people that took place over hundreds of years.

Unfortunately, the arguments at least (and may be even the fights) became necessary ..............

Anyway, leave that matter for Matthias; hope you, woky and all the other participants continue to have an enjoyable and fruitful time. smiley
Including you! Yes you.

Isn't this better than all those "Us versus them" things?

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"

Good morning to all.

Yes it is,

Christianity Etc › Re: Where Is Obadiah777 by SalC: 7:16am On Oct 15, 2013
Believe it or not Obadiah777 has left his footprint in the sand of time as far as Nairaland is concern. If he goes missing, he will be greatly misses by many including my humble self. His comic posts come next to non. He equally knows how to give his opponents "executive insults" with you actually not realising it. In a way, his intepretations are true save for few weird exegies.

Those who can shut themselves up in this little heaven of the soul, where He dwells who created Heaven and earth, may believe that they are walking in an excellent way, and that they shall not fail to drink of the water of the fountain, for in a little time they will make great progress.

Good morning dear brethren.

damerry: Thanks,
I'm still a boy, when i grow up, I'll love to be like italo, syncan and all other Catholics in this forum who are more versed in our Doctrines.

I have ineptly handled confrontations in my threads, i answer critics like a kid in catechism class, at some point i referred oppressors to go and meet and the pope cheesy.

Anyway I'll never give up, I'll kip learning until I reach the summit, then I'll start hitting these critics with Hot spot-on answers enough to make dem wish for a ban smiley
All Catholics on this forum have been an inspiration to us all, your likes, blessings, threads and encouragement has far-reaching effects on the Faith of someone, somewhere.

Where is Maria-Gorettihuh Longtime, no cee her

God bless us all
Yes we are all learners, sometimes after reading my posts a had to laugh at how mild and childish it sounded. Hopefully someday I will get better, cuz if not for this forum, i seldom get involved in debates.

Do have a favoured day.
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 6:34am On Oct 15, 2013
Try to disengage yourself from so many cares and take a little time to think of God and to rest in Him. Enter into the secret chambers of your heart, and banish from everything save your creator alone and what can help you find him; then having closed the door, say to Him, with all your soul: "Lord, I seek thy divine countenance- teach me to find it".......Saint Augustine

Good morning brethren, Forget not to pray this day.

Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 9:22pm On Oct 14, 2013
italo: Yes. They too.

1 Cor 12:

17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Christianity Etc › Re: 4 Types Of Christians On Nairaland by SalC: 8:27pm On Oct 14, 2013
Logicboy03: 1) The activists
-They normally fight for justice based on their christian ethics and the life of christ
-They usually are good with people from different faiths
-They tend to be more liberal
***How to know them;
You will find them complaining on the complaints section about someone else who was cheated or needs to be compensated

2) The sectarians
-They confine their christianity to one church or one interpretation dogmatically
-They dont get along with other christians eg (fighting against catholics/protestants)
-They hardly get along with people of other faiths
-They tend to be very conservative with their christianity
***How to know them;
You will find them opening threads and bashing other churches or doctrines (catholics are mary worshippers etc)

3) The preachers
-They spend more time preaching rather than discussing their christianity
-They consider themselves an authority on biblical interpretations
-They tend to be conservative with their christianity
***How to know them;
You will find them opening numerous threads preaching left and right. They can also throw cumbersome bible verses. They preach more than they comment on other people's threads

4) The holier than thou's
-They spend time claiming to be filled with Holy Ghost or the grace of Christ
-They spend time criticizing other people's morality
-They dont mix well with other people of faith
***How to know them;
You will find them having "Holy-holy" signatures. "I am filled with grace"....."I walk in the light of the lord". Yet, you will find them being bigots and doing all sorts of atrocities. They also judge a lot
So we now have different types of christians?.

Those who go to mass only once a year.

We all know they have more population than any other society.

Buhahahahaha
Italo na joke be dis?
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 9:46am On Oct 14, 2013
italo: Awww!!! Sister, you people are experts at bringing tears to my eyes. Thanks. Be sure that I also learn a lot from other Catholic faithful and get so much information, inspiration and motivation from you all.

This is the era of The New Evangelization in the Church and we should make maximum use of the new instruments of technology and media (smart phones, computers, social media, internet etc) to first nourish our faith...then going on to proclaim it to others. This is what our Holy Fathers Benedict, then Francis promote. That's why 86 yr old Benedict got on twitter.

EWTN is another great way to enrich our faith and I've been following the masses at both St. Peter's and Fatima.

Now let me give you a little example of how we all gain one or two things from one another. I might have had some knowledge that some Catholics didnt expressly have but I often found myself falling for the provocation of non-Catholics. I'd have no hesitation to use harsh or insultive words. I did learn the value (or virtue) of temperance and calmness from people like Syncan, Ubenedictus, Rich4God and many other less known Catholics here. I learnt, not just because they specifically told me but because I saw them live out the example. I have also learnt a lot on theology from Syncan, Ubenedictus, Chukwudi44 and a number of others. Sometimes i learn from those Catholics who would ignore all the arguments and just post a prayer or a devotion, even without having enough know-how to 'defend' it. Yes! We need that too. I cannot mention every single thing that I have gained from every single person here but just know that every single Catholic here has added something positive to my life.

Sorry about the long post...but when I get in this mood....

God bless us all.

God bless his Holy Catholic Church.
In return you were among those whose contribution I love to read and one of the people who inspired me alongside Chukwudi44 and Lady (really missed her since I finally registered). Uben, I've always looked upon as a father. Got to know Syncan when I registered.

Now Damerry and others whose names I didn't mention, also inspired me much.
God bless us and the church at large.
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 9:36am On Oct 14, 2013
Syncan: Well, nothing much, just the first thought that crossed my mind on seeing the name, sought of sounded feminine at first. Must admit you come out strong, in debates on some occasions, which put me in doubt, however quite a number of your posts I have met here consists of encouragements, things like seconded, weldone, good one etc, even in this thread, you didn't miss out the 'you are welcome' that I delibrately provoked, that's motherly. It would still have been a guess though.
And you guessed right. Have a blessed day .
Christianity Etc › Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 9:34am On Oct 14, 2013
okpurukata: This is my contribution to this tread. I wish to extend my heart felt gratitude to Italo and Ubenedictus and other catholic faithfuls on Nairaland. You have been an inspiration to me. I have learned so much and I can stand and defend my faith even more based on all I have read and learned. It is clear that Catholics are the most mis understood Christian sect. There is also a lot of envy and jealousy for the catholic church and it's structures by some other Christians.
However, we will continue to march stronger. Let us pray for our priests and the religious. Let us also strive to begin to assist in the work of evangelism. We should not fail to use any available opportunity to tell other about our faith. God Loves us and will continue to Bless and keep us and His church.

Meanwhile I am just watching a re broadcast of the Pope's mass at St Peters on EWTN, now. It's awesome. I enjoin others who have access to watch too.
God bless you dear sister.
