I think will you should just ask for serious evidence against this people to determine the efficacy of their allegation. I think Nigerian press are educating us everyday with their story anyway. MONTERREY, Mexico (AFP) - A Mexican tipping the scales at 560 kilograms (1,234 pounds) will be listed as the world's fattest man by the Guinness Book of Records, while a loss of 200 kilos (440 pounds) may make him the man who lost the most weight. "I'm glad to be in the Guinness Book as the fattest man. I am also happy to have lost 200 kilos," Manuel Uribe, 41, told AFP. Uribe was able to leave his home in Monterrey, northern Mexico in March aboard a trailer to celebrate his weight loss. Guinness has recognized his weighty achievement with a glass plaque. "They gave it to me, I have it in my hands," said Uribe, who founded an organization to help overweight people. Uribe's photograph appears in the 2008 Guinness Book of Records alongside a description of the treatment he has had and offers of surgery he has received. Uribe said the editor of the book had promised to visit him next year, and held out the possibility of appearing in the 2009 edition as the man who had lost the most weight. Uribe appeared on television in 2006 seeking help for his excess weight, which has plagued him for more than 20 years, most of which he has spent in bed. |
In the name of God, the Giver of Peace. Belief, Love and Peace for All Wouldn't it be nice if we could all live together on earth in Peace? Imagine, there'd be nobody stealing; nobody hurting or killing; no one shouting or swearing or calling names, people would love and look after each other. Wouldn't that be like heaven on earth? Well. That's exactly what the Last Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was sent to teach us: how people, all over the earth, can learn to live in peace together, without fighting each other, and enjoy all the good things God has given us. How? The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "You will not enter heaven until you believe; and you will not believe until you love one another. Should I not guide you to a thing that if you do it will increase love amongst you? Spread "As salam' (peace be with you)" [1] In this special saying of the Prophet, he mentions three important things: Belief, Love and Peace. Each one is important and they are all linked closely together. If we want to enjoy peace we should believe and want happiness not just for ourselves but for others as well. These three life-altering things could really change our world, if only people could practice them. Maybe it's because some, are just not looking for them in the right place, they look everywhere but sometimes forget to look at themselves, in their own hearts, where belief, love and peace begin. Many Ways to Peace A companion of the Prophet, peace be upon him, told us that he heard the Prophet say: "O people! Spread Salam (the greetings of peace), feed (the poor and needy), be kind to your relatives, offer prayer when others are asleep, and (you will) enter Paradise in peace." Let's look now at some of the other things which the Prophet taught, to keep us out of trouble and make the world a better place: Don't Be Angry First, try not to get angry. Sometimes we're tested by being bullied or pushed, often there'll be someone who wants to show that they are better or stronger than you; they go out of their way to prove it and make you feel small. Well? What do we do? The Prophet, peace be upon him, was once asked by a man to give him advice. The Prophet told him, "La taghdab!' Which means, "Don't be angry!' But the man didn't listen, and kept on repeating his request. The Prophet, peace be upon him, just kept on telling him the same answer, "Don't be angry! Don't be angry!' Patience and Prayer Patience and Prayer are the best ways to deal with any bad thing that happens. Being patient sometimes means to do nothing except wait for Allah to remove whatever is bothering us. Sometimes it means not to give up your belief and stand firm; not to be shaken. Whenever we need extra help, we should turn to God and pray. And if we are true believers, we won't only do this when we need something, but we will pray everyday. Then we will be closer God, and know that He will always be with us when we need Him. Don't Bad-Mouth Anybody Sometimes it's not others, but we who cause harm and disturb the peace. Think about it. Haven't you ever said something that might have hurt somebody's feelings or called them nasty names? Maybe we spoke badly behind their backs. That is called "Ghibah' or backbiting. When they hear about what you said it creates pain and hate in their hearts. So the Prophet, peace be upon him, taught us never to talk badly about others, and never to talk behind their backs. However, if somebody does it to you, instead of getting upset, know that God is with you if you stay patient; try to learn to forgive them as you wish God to forgive you. Also, if you hear somebody talking badly about someone else, don't just listen; instead, stop them or try to say something good that would make the person they're talking about pleased. The Prophet, peace be upon him said, "Speak good or be silent.' This way, you create peace and harmony. Just listen to the silence of the Sunlight, which makes everybody warm and happy. My Peace Book is written by Yusuf Islam. |

Wonder shall never end, I still wonder on what is in the new today, that is Ribadu dragged to court over N668m houses. Can it be true? Culled from Nigerian Tribune A Federal High Court in Abuja has been asked to compel the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, to probe the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged acquisition of a $3.9 million (about N468 million) villa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and another house in Mambilla Street in Abuja valued at N200 million. The order of mandamus being sought is to establish how Ribadu got the money, as a public officer, to acquire the alleged properties. The court is also asked to issue another order compelling Ribadu to publicly render the audited accounts of EFCC since it was established in 2002 and make it available to the National Assembly. The suit was filed by two legal practitioners, Ogboli Charles and Ugochukwu Osuagwu. In the originating summons lodged at the registry of the Federal High Court, Abuja, the lawyers joined the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) as respondents. They said they were forced to come to court following the failure by the office of the IGP to act on the petition they wrote and directed to the IGP to probe allegations of corruption against Ribadu. According to them, they made available the allegation of corruption to the outgoing EFCC boss and that up till now, he neither denied nor affirmed the allegation. In their writ before the court, they formulated three fundamental and constitutional issues for the court to determine: •Whether the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is under a statutory duty to keep proper accounts, its receipts, payments, assets and liabilities; •Whether EFCC is under a statutory duty to submit its accounts for auditing; •Whether EFCC has since 2002 complied with the requirements of section 35 and 36 of the EFCC Act 2002 which require it to audit its account and submit same not later than 30th September each year to the National Assembly. In the event the above questions are resolved in the affirmative, they wanted the court to grant them the following reliefs: •An order compelling EFCC and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to render its audited accounts from 2002 to 2007 publicly and submit same to the National Assembly; •An order directing Mallam Ribadu to state how, while a public officer, he came about the sum of $3,948,479.00k which he allegedly used in purchasing a villa at Palm Beach Estate, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, sometime in 2004; •An order directing Mallam Ribadu to state how, while a public officer, he realised the sum of N200 million with which he allegedly used to buy the official residence of a former Inspector General of Police at Mambilla Street, Maitama in Abuja; •An order compelling the Inspector-General of Police to conduct an investigation into the allegation of corruption preferred against Ribadu with a view to arresting and/or prosecuting him where the allegation discloses a prima facie case of corruption. In a 15-paragraph affidavit accompanying the writ, the two lawyers said that they are citizens of Nigeria, taxpayers and registered voters with civil obligation to join in the fight to eradicate corruption in the country. They said their status conferred enough locus on them to file the case in court. They explained that they had earlier written a letter dated December 24, 2007 addressed to Ribadu asking him to render the account of his office spanning five and a half years; a request which they claimed was not complied with. They said even though they also wrote the IGP to investigate Ribadu over how he amassed the wealth to acquire properties in and outside Nigeria, nothing was done, hence the lawsuit. The matter is yet to be assigned to any of the judges for hearing. But the case is likely to get an accelerated hearing; the plaintiffs having approached the court through an originating summons. |
Quite educating stories, I presumed strongly that if our government is up to the task there should be no problem of energy. If a grassroots’ government decides to eradicate the problem of energy, they can source funds from the financial institution, and on the long run all the expenses will be spread on the houses in a local and it could be cheaper. A very good local government will subsidize the expenses and surely it will in turn increase the local generated revenue. To me it is not expensive is like investing money to get money. The have wasted billion of naira on NEPA/ NPHC. So let the generation, distribution, financing and management of energy start from the Local government or the State government and supported by the government at the center to allow individual contribution. |

There are sometime senses on sensible and insensible thing, but one must learn that two wrong cannot make a right. People makes contribution, which are relevant, and to you is right; some that you think that it could also be right but wrong. Note that there is no confusion about life, right is always distinct from error or wrong. Just please do the right thing, and what is the right thing: the right thing is to have a strong faith, the faith that only God can help you. Do what you can boast-off. |

Dear All, Hope you will have time to go through this!! Life The shrill in his voice cut through my bone marrows like a chain saw as he narrates his ordeal over the phone. He had just lost his younger brother in an accident a month ago, his wife just gave birth, in addition he caters for his other five siblings and a week after he was fired by the organization for which he has sacrificed nine years of his life. Bugzy got fired last week; he could not even pick his personal files from his PC. This piece is not about Bugzy, it's about us, you and me. Let's pause for a moment and put our selves in Bugzy's shoes, did I hear God forbid? Yeah! Bugzy would have said that a week ago but reality has set in. whether Bugzy was unfairly sacked is not what I want to discuss but what have we to learn from it? We work in the 21st century where technology is fast claiming good old jobs, my dad used to be a cable expert at NITEL, he reveled at the single fact that he's so good at the job, he was indispensable, but the moment the idea of GSM was being mooted, he was such a smart man that he resigned and started some other business but his colleagues stayed on with expectation of the usual monthly pay perk, then came the big bang, 256 NITEL Technical staff sacked, my dad was still being paid his pension after taking his gratuity. Technology we love so much is becoming our competitor, organizations are fast automating their processes, we are being replaced by machines, it's now a war of man vs. machine but man is fast losing the battle due to that tacit support of the capitalist machine. Yes, the capitalist machine, that greedy behemoth, never satisfied with little. Due to globalization, companies are spreading more than ever, are consolidating more than ever and profits are rising more than ever but jobs are lost more than ever. You may ask why, the reason is; they have found alternatives and they are machines. Companies cut jobs at every little provocation, losing ones job is as easy as a phone call or an SMS, hurray technology! When organizations want to cut costs, they don't sell computers and software's, they sack people. Like Bugzy, we have come to work today, to earn our pay, but are we really sure we will be here when the salary will be paid? I am not Nostradamus but I can give a little advice on how to live in this perilous times. I may be sounding too negative but permit me to drive home my points. Do we have the I-quit-money? Majority of us just spend and spend till we drop dead, hoping to earn an unearned salary. We shop, drink, party away, take loans to consume luxuries over income we are yet to earn in the next three years. What if after this, we get sacked and nothing is left in our accounts? We get frustrated and feel worthless. Please, let's save and save and save and then invest, invest and invest again but wisely, let's invest in landed properties, stocks, bonds; invest long term and short term for we will fall back on them in the rainy days. At least let's set about 30-40% of our income aside for investment and savings so when it happens we can comfort our dependants and keep their hopes alive instead of killing our dreams and theirs due to our wrong choices. A job should not deter us from having a plan B, one of the best ways to make a plan B is to learn some very practical skills aside from what we do at work, let's learn some skills. The truth is in some years from now, people like Bugzy might be thankful to the organization for sacking them as they might become more successful by going into personal businesses or doing something that will bring income far above what their paid jobs offered. Can you sing? Try developing that skill, learn to sew, learn hair dressing, make use of that ability to cook that people have always praised you for, are you good at programming? Try designing software, teach if you can, learn something, anything, it could be your saving grace after you receive that call. These are derided skills which wiser people have converted to cash. Talk about the Mr Biggs, Nandos, Tiffany Ambers, Frank Oshodis, Tufaces, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs of these world and you talk of people doing ordinary things in special ways and making serious money. For those that can still apply to study please intensify efforts, it increases your market worth and you can call the bluff of any employer when you need to A word is enough for the wise, let's do these things so we can smile and drop our letters with joy when we are called to do so. These things call for serious discipline, what else differentiate success from failure if not discipline and determination? If you can't fly, run. If you can't run, walk, but please keep moving. Don't sit in your comfort zone because there is nothing as such, it's an illusion. Thank you. A word is enough for the wise |
