There are a lot of start up technology companies in Berlin that are looking to employ foreign talents. If you have the skills you can start searching and applying for jobs online, like I got mine on Xing.com but there are job portals like berlinstartupjobs.com and you can search on Google for jobs in Berlin.

It is important not to give up when you get rejection mails from one or two companies these things happen but keep on applying as there are so many other companies that will like your profile.

Check out companies like AUTO-1, Project A, N26, Smava GmbH etc... They are always recruiting.

TravelGeneral German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Sam8850(op):
Hello all and welcome to this thread. This new year, I believe a lot of people have resolutions and plans they intend to achieve this year and for the future. I am a strong believer in the saying "Knowledge (the right information) is Power" hence having the right information from people's experiences and legit sources can lead to the achievement of our goals.

Now, for those of us who are intending to migrate to Germany for work or family re-union purposes, it is very vital to get the right information on processes and guidance to successful acquiring of your visum (visa).

Here we go, first, it will be very important to visit the German Consulate official website, try to know the legit site as opposed to third-party, clone sites, or random Google site results. The official site of the German Consulate in Nigeria is https://nigeria.diplo.de, there you can find a lot of information regarding types of visas, booking appointments, and requirements.

I believe there are Nigerians out there in Germany who have gone through this process in the past few years that can share their experience with us, which is always helpful. I have questions and well as I can answer questions of my journey to this stage, I have also been able to share and answer questions on other threads that can help.

So let's begin this journey by helping each other one question and answer at a time for the right information is the power that will help us achieve our goals.

Thank you.

Thanks for the information.

One more question, the document verification payment, is it to be made on the interview date or when they send the Lawyer to visit?

dany5:
Go with everything on the checklist and even more(if you have additional documents).Arrange them accordingsly to avoid oga Pauly wahala. One original then two photocopies for each document.Verification of documents follows after you have gone for the interview at the Lagos consulate. You will get a call from the lawyer who will verify your documents and will visit you at home.I wish you the best.Be honest and try to remember all you were asked incase they decide to organize a second interview for your spouse. The VO types while you speak.

Hello all,

Please is there anyone in here that had gone through the family re-union (joining Spouse in Germany) visa process and would be able to share useful information (experience)?

I have the entire checklist but I'm a bit confused with the document verification, is this done during the visa process? Is the questionnaire to be filled separately with document verification checklist?

Thanks

Oh! I thought I responded to that. However, the relationship between BI and MIS is that MIS is a framework in the BI process. In simple terms MIS is a stage in the BI process, it involves staging, warehousing and reporting but the full BI process needs interpretation and recommendation of the reports and how to use the report to answer business problems. BI is more of numerical and statistical analysis which tends towards you being analytical in your approach to problem solving and recommendations to business problems.

Basic foundation is your first degree while you also need to take a step ahead to learn computer programs to gain more experience.

I took some of my BI trainings online via udemy and edx while also working and gaining work experience.

Learn programs like Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Microstrategy to mention a few also be very good with Excel.

okezie007:
Hey! I was looking forward to your response related to my enquiry about the relationship between BI & MIS.. However, can you kindly let me know where you obtained your BI training from?

The journey of getting the job was filled with lots of events, persistence, dedication, rejections & disappointments, discrimination, WORK & Prayer... but I'm sure you don't want to hear all that, so lemme simply put it this way, I searched on job portals, applied, interviewed and got the job.

Useful sites:

xing.com (This was where I got my job)
http://berlinstartupjobs.com/
linkedin.com
angel.co

Generally search online for jobs in Germany.

Gillespie1:
Please, can you tell how you were able to get the job because am considering applying for the German job seeker visa soon.
TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 5 by Sam8850: 1:14am On Dec 04, 2018
Overall my interview experience was great. My interviewer seems to be new at the job (based on my observation and how she kept asking her colleague questions about the blue card visa), above all she was still very smart and mature throughout the process.

Tips: Study your application form quite well because 80% of the questions asked was more like a walkthrough of the application form, also your CV and very few personal questions. Every word you say is recorded (typed by the interviewer) in your words, hence relax when responding as you'd be more comfortable answering the questions.

Here are a few questions I could remember answering (in no particular order):

1. Why Germany?
2. Have you ever applied for a visa to Germany before?
3. What city in Germany is this job located?
4. How did you get this job?
5. What is the company name?
6. What is your remuneration?
7. How many hours a week are you going to be working?
8. What do you currently do?
9. What is your new job title?
10. Are your current job and your new job in the same line of work?
11. How long do you intend to stay in Germany?
12. What next do you want to do? (I got a little confused when she asked this question, but this was my last question)
13. Do you intend to return to Nigeria?
14. Are you married/Single?
15. Do you speak any German?
16. What words can you speak in German?
17. Do you have any relatives or family member in Germany?

These are mostly the questions I was asked that I can remember.

As for me, my job contract was to commence Sept 1 but I couldn't get an appointment date till November, hence I was asked to get a resumption extension letter which I provided immediately and my visa was pre-approved in Berlin by October which I also provided a file number for confirmation. So try to get any document that may seem relevant for clarifications available as it will help make the process easier and faster.

Good luck!

Good morning Sam,

Could you please share the list of documents you had on you and the extra ones they requested at the gate? It would be of great help.

Thanks.
Hi,

It's best to have more than enough copies of all your documents (Original + 2 copies of each set of a document).
On the checklist only a few requested documents were identified as more than one copy but it is advisable to make as many copies as you can.

Here's the checklist:

Passport
2 completely filled application forms
2 completely filled declarations in accordance with Section 54 of the Residence Act
2 biometric passport pictures (Your Int'l passport page)
Curriculum vitae of professional career, including all certificates, diplomas, etc.
German university degree or recognised foreign degree comparable to a German degree
Working contract or binding job offer with details of gross annual salary.
Pre-paid courier envelope from a major courier service

Note the above is for Blue Card entry visa, additional documents like Primary school testimonials, WAEC Certificate, Secondary School Certificate, Old Documents from birth etc are required for Work Permit visa.
TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 5 by Sam8850: 12:19am On Nov 28, 2018
Being a follower of this thread for almost 6months I have gotten some and quite vital info that has helped me.

However, this thread is quite one-sided (from Part 4) considering it started as "General German Visa Enquiries" but now more "...Student visa enquiries". While some of us are looking for either Work permit, entry visa (blue card) or family reunion, it's quite hard to get answers to questions like the process of verifying documents for the family reunion, general support, general information, when you get to Germany what you need to do before you begin work etc.

I almost fumbled during my appointment about a week ago as the guy at the gate was asking for documents not listed on my checklist for entry visa (blue card) but as God had my back, the guy at the gate gave me time to go print the documents because I told him I have them scanned in my drive.

Been searching through Nairaland but couldn't find any thread that is focused on German Work Permit or Blue Card holders or family reunion to follow and get more information, I'm sure there are work permit/blue card holders in here already living in Germany that can help with some information and answers to our few questions. I've seen some questions on this thread related to it but it gets lost amongst the student info.

Please, if anyone got a link to a thread that covers the category of long-term German visa on Nairaland kindly share with us. The German website is very informative and helpful but also getting feedback and the first-hand experience from people who had gone through this before will also prove to be very effective.

Thank you

Hello house,

I have been checking for over a week now but each time I don't find anything, I was told to check 3pm and 11pm but nothing has opened during these times and other times of the day I randomly check.

Thank Bro.

I have been able to get another date for November 19th. Though hoping I can get an earlier date in October or November.

Thanks Guys.

Hi!

Your only option is to book an appointment and hope to get another appointment! You would not be able to attend the interview with the previous appointment that has been obliviously cancelled!

We need to pray fervently! The devil will never succeed! God's will be done! Amen.

You need to Mk a fresh booking since ur appointment was canceled and u got a mail towards that effect. Also it goes beyond security just checking appointment letter, they have list of all those scheduled for interview on that day.
TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 5 by Sam8850: 10:39am On Sep 19, 2018
Hello guyz,

I have an issue that needs urgent help. For some reasons I don't know my appointment booking was cancelled either mistakenly by someone (the person that helped book it) or by the system (I can't really tell). I still have the application booking mail which was scheduled for October 15th 7.30am, then I got a cancellation mail yesterday which I don't understand how.

I'm still trying to book another appointment but my question is can I still take this appointment letter to the embassy on that day? For the guys that have done their interviews, do you think this will be an issue as my slot would still be open? I know the security guys at the gate just want to see the application print out. How else can I confirm an application booking?

Thanks.
TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 5 by Sam8850: 12:13pm On Aug 24, 2018
Hi guys,

Please, how can I get a long-term visa appointment booking? I have been checking since last month and nothing is forthcoming, still no available date. I was online all night (about 5hrs), I kept refreshing the page as I was adviced that the release new appointments overnight yet nothing. To make matters worse while checking through the night the month of November appeared but still no booking slot.

Is there another way of getting an appointment? I'm supposed to resume work by September and my employers in Germany are already working on my permit but I still need an appointment from the Consulate here.

Any advice?

Hello,

Been trying to book an appointment for work visa since last month but no available date even till October. Does anyone know when they usually open bookings or best time of the day to check. I check like 8 - 10 times daily but nothing, I'm sure people cancel appointments so they'd definitely have it open.
