Are there any benefits of drinking alcohol? Alcohol doesn't make a lot of "Top 10" lists for being one of the healthiest things to put in our bodies. But alcohol in all of its common forms—beer, wine, liquor—actually has some unexpected health perks. Here are the best benefits of drinking alcohol. NO ONE CAN SCORE A PERFECT 10 ON THIS IMPOSSIBLE HUMAN 1. BURNS CALORIES This could be one of the best benefits of drinking alcohol. Seriously. New research found that wine can help keep your weight in check. Over a 13-year study, scientists found that women who drank a glass or two of red wine a day were 30 percent less likely to be overweight than non-drinkers. One reason: drinking booze encourages your body to burn calories. 2. SEXUAL DESIRE Women who drank one to two glasses of vino had heightened sexual desire, compared to ladies who didn’t down any vino, a Journal of Sexual Medicine study found. What makes the elixir so beneficial is a rich antioxidant profile that triggers nitric oxide production in the blood, which relaxes artery walls. This increases blood flow down south, creating feelings of sexual excitement. THE ALL-NEW LEARN MORE 3. ENHANCES EXERCISE PERFORMANCE Research published in the Journal of Physiology found that the resveratrol found in most red wines can enhance exercise performance, improve muscle strength and heart function—all benefits similar to endurance training. Also, there is some truth to the whole post-marathon beer thing! A Spanish study suggests that an ice cold beer can hydrate you just as well as water, making it perfectly ok to grab happy hour after an intense sweat session. 4. PACKED WITH VITAMINS Whether you’re a fan of Bud Light or Guinness, beer is packed with B vitamins riboflavin and thiamine, plus high levels of magnesium, and calcium. But dark beers do have a slight advantage of being the better brew thanks to their high iron content, which helps oxygen circulate around the body better. 5. SPARKS CREATIVITY Next time you’re stumped at a project, grab a cocktail. For example, cranberry and vodka can help get your creative juices flowing according to a study from Consciousness and Cognition. 6. STOPS BAD BREATH Any case of bad breath can be helped by a shot of vodka. The high alcohol content in vodka (and other alcohols) helps kill bad odor bacteria. Two pro tips: make sure to spit it out after use, and don't use any liquors with high sugar content, as they can eat away at all that healthy enamel. 7. REDUCES ANXIETY Alcohol helps in social interactions and making awkward situations a little less anxiety-inducing. Consuming alcohol can help us feel like we fit in at parties and temporarily boost confidence. Finally, here are examples of the healthiest drinks: gizmodo.com You know moderation is the key. Drink responsibly. Have alcohol as a kind-of treat or reward for accomplishing something, instead of making it a crutch. Cheers!

There was pandemonium in Ishawo community at Ikorodu in Lagos State, on Thursday last week when rival cult groups, Eiye and Aiye, engaged in a supremacy battle. The clash, which occurred about 8.55p.m., at Olainukan bus stop, forced residents of the community to hurriedly shut their doors and remain indoors, as guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons were freely used After the dust had settled, Eiye group reportedly killed a member of Aiye confraternity, identified simply as Sunday. The clashes between cult groups in Ikorodu are said to be on the increase. Several people were said to have sustained various degrees of injury while trying to escape. A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they were in front of their house when they saw some youths, all dressed in black, chasing some people. Image result for Eiye And Aiye Cult Groups Clash In Lagos Community. He said: “Because we are used to cult clashes, immediately I saw the youth in black, I called my wife who was selling bread in front of our house to pack because anything could happen. “A few minutes later, after we gone inside the house, we started hearing gunshots from different angles. On the fateful day, there was a serious commotion in the community. When the clash was going on nobody could come outside; everyone remained indoors for fear of being caught in the crossfire. Even some of our family members and friends who were still outside at the time of the fight we phoned them and advised not to come home. “There is no day in Ishawo without a cult-related clash, before policemen from Owutu arrived at the scene, they had fled. But the policemen evacuated one of the cult members killed during the clash.” Another resident, who gave his name as Tayo, said nobody could say why the rival groups were fighting each other. He said: “I was at Agric bus stop when I received a phone call from my wife that I should stay where I was because cult members were fighting in our area. What we were battling with in the community before was oil bunkering, but we are now faced with the challenge of cultists. Policemen from Owotu Police Station cannot do it alone. We want peace in our community.”

JOY IN OSHODI AS MC OLUOMO IS ALMOST BACK ON HIS FEET!! Poison Knife unable to down notorious gangster There was joy among the supporters of MC Oluomo after it was revealed that the notorious NURTW leader is recovering fast from his stab wounds. A leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, who was stabbed in the neck last Tuesday, is responding well to treatment and may be discharged soon, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. The unionist was stabbed at a rally organised by the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja He was taken to nearby Eko Hospital, after he was injured in the fracas that erupted among rival gangs of the NURTW at the APC rally. But on Saturday, a PREMIUM TIMES’ reporter who monitored activities at the hospital where Mr Akinsanya was being treated learnt from well-wishers who were at the hospital to visit him that he was out of danger and may be discharged soon. The expression on the faces of many of the visitors, who are mostly members of the Oshodi Chapter of the NURTW, turned from apprehension to relief as they walked out of the hospital. Many of them loudly described how fit he looked. The visitors were allowed into the hospital in small groups by a man that appears to be a lieutenant of the injured NURTW leader, simply identified as Seun. A lady who was among those allowed to see Mr Akinsanya said she was thankful to God that he was okay. “When we went up he was looking good, his younger brother’s wife was also there with him upstairs,” she reported. A man among the visitors spoke excitedly after visiting Mr Akinsanya. He suggested the transport union leader would pay back those who attacked him in the same coin once he returned home. “There will be trouble now because the one they thought they have killed did not die. All who did this will be scared now because they have failed in their mission,” he said in Yoruba. Police Protection Stationed close to the entrance of the hospital were two police vehicles – a van and a Black Maria – with at least four armed policemen. Since the incident last Tuesday, the police have arrested 16 persons and have declared Mustapha Adekunle aka Seigo, the alleged mastermind of the attack on Mr Akinsanya, wanted. The NURTW, apart from being a transport union, has also been a major source of armed thugs for major political parties across Nigeria. In Lagos, members of the union are closely linked to the ruling party, APC.

Nigerian veteran rap act, Eedris Abdulkareem has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is the “most successful fraudster” in the history of Nigeria. He wrote: “Buhari is by far the most successful fraudster in the history of Nigeria. First, he was fraudulently enlisted into the Nigerian army. He fraudulently gained promotion that he wasn’t qualified for while in the army. “He truncated our democracy and rendered Nigerians poor and helpless. He turned the Petroleum Trust Fund to Petroleum Trust Fraud to help Abacha loot his way to the grave. “He came back, deceived 15 million Nigerians with fake integrity and became a president without the required certificate. He gained an unrestricted access to our national treasury and went on a looting spree that made Nigeria the poverty capital of the world. Now he wants to continue…no way, he must be stopped because we cannot continue to reinforce failure.”
