LagosismyHome: Yes UK can lose money for one year even two years if it's that one. Unprecedented times brings unprecedented changes. Even in march nobody knew primary and secondary will be shut this long and now secondary and rest of primary wont be open till Sept. Even as far as like week the Uk government was doing gra gra to force it open. In a pandemic you can never predict
Even if a vaccine comes out in Sept... it takes a lot of man power and resources to mass produce and distribute a vaccine world wide ... it is no easy fix .... The only thing that will determine how it will play out is the death rate. The lower it gets the more normalcy will return. The higher it get ..... you can be sure everything will go back to shut down ....it will become lives before money, even though UK like your money pass anything ......1918 pandemic took 2 years to resolve so it's possible. Nobody can predict and only time will tell In 1918, the world wasn't this global. Response in science and technology were slow. Nevertheless, the death rate in the UK has declined to pre-lock down period |

Earlier today someone asked about address when filling out the Visa application. Another person responded saying hotel booking is a absolute way out. it just dawn on me that with the new immigration guidelines and the two weeks isolation, it may be necessary that you get an accommodation before arrival. This may be a strong condition when the UKVAC opens |

Exactly my dear. I am so confused. My plan was to wait till August. mimilyrics: Under normal circumstances, yes. But it's not always the case. Just make sure that you don't need your passport shortly after submitting your application incase the normal timescales are exceeded. |

Thank you but under normal circumstances, if I apply in July, is there a possibility under normal circumstances that I will get my passport in August? mimilyrics: Your friend is right but it doesn't happen like that in all cases, it could stretch beyond that in some cases especially if the application isn't straightforward. No one knows what the realistic timescales will be when VACs/UKVI starts accepting applications due to several reasons. |

Step-by-step guide to preparing for your IELTS in 10 days… Use online resources. You may not have time to order books if you only have 10 days to prepare. However, there are several online resources you can make the most out of.
Don’t learn in isolation. Although the amount that you need to learn for the IELTS can be daunting, try not to split out your preparation into 4 sections. Rather than plan your schedule with ‘Monday- Reading’, ‘Tuesday- Listening’, it may be more useful to do listening and speaking on one day and reading and writing on another. Try not to be afraid to incorporate all elements of the exam into each day. It may help your language development long-term if you structure your preparation this way. The language skills you need for all four skills are closely linked, particularly listening with speaking, and reading with writing, so it will help you to learn it altogether, especially if you have a short time to prepare.
Immerse yourself in English. Alongside test-specific preparation, it can be helpful to read things that interest you in English, write in English (e.g., reviews of what you’ve read, and also emails and letters if you're taking the General Training IELTS), listen to native English speakers talking to each other, and talk to English speakers themselves if possible. Try to only use English for this 10-day period. Although it might be difficult, it will push you to learn new words and think on your feet.
Tips from an expert:“You don’t have to read long books, as you don’t have loads of time, but blogs, and online magazines can be a great place to start.”
Expand your vocabulary. As you read and listen to conversations in English, make a list of words you don’t recognise or understand. Look up these words online or in a dictionary to make sure they are spelt correctly in your list, and to properly understand the meaning of each word. Note down a synonym or short definition for the words, and practise using them in your writing and daily conversations.
Tips from an expert: “The more you can expand your vocabulary, the better you will understand the reading and listening sections, and the more accurately you will be able to express yourself in the speaking and writing sections.” – Scarlet Edmonds, Curriculum Development Manager.
Become an accent expert. (This one is a time saver!) If you believe you have a good grasp of your English vocabulary, it is time to make sure you can understand and respond to any English-speaking accent. Listening tasks in the exam can come from British, American, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand English speakers. To save time and confusion on the day of the exam, why not watch some British English news channels from various parts of the UK, (YouTube is good for this) or listen to some Australian radio (you can listen online.) Being familiar with these accents will mean you’re prepared for anything.
Practice is your friend. Although this 10-day period is going to be tiring, the more practice you can squeeze in, the better. Even if it’s just writing a short diary entry before you go to sleep each night (in English of course!) or telling yourself what you’re going to eat for breakfast and lunch. You’ll eventually become more familiar with how to form sentences in English quickly. |
