InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by samguru(m):
Today, the tyrant "Mr bear" entered our trading floor through the back door and desecrated our revered stocks that are preparing to reward the patient investors.

As at the time of filing this report many casualties were recorded as the bear was so aggressive to the extent of sparking a bloodbath on the floor.

No thanks to the treasury bill guys as they keep encouraging Mr. Bear to do more damages, but our Chairmen(Dangote cement and MTN) rose to the occasion and repelled the attack.

The situation has been put under control as All Share Index was navigated to the north by our defenders and territory reclaimed from the blood thirsty bear.

All the stocks that sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital of BARGAIN HUNTERS and we are expecting them back on the floor tomorrow healthy and hearty to join in the struggle to put an end to the reign of the wicked bear.

TwiceASGiant:
Hello All,

I would like you to share your knowledge and insights with me on this tax matter.

Assume that you're working for a multi-national company in Lagos and you periodically set aside around 60% of your net monthly pay and invest same into the shares of well-run companies listed on the NSE.

Assume further that at the end of ten years of working with the multi-national company, you decide to resign and incorporate your own company by being a distributor for the multi-national company's products.

However, before the incorporation of your company, you sold all your overvalued shares in your personal name and moved the proceeds into your newly incorporated company's bank account. In this case, would the person be liable to pay any tax to the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) or the FIRS based on the proceeds from his liquidated shares?

Thank you.
At the point of selling your shares, govt has already collected their tax from the proceeds of the share sales.
The moment the fund enters your business,it is regarded as shareholder's fund.
Govt can not tax shareholder's fund rather they tax your profit

BAMOFIN1:
@longlife, @samguru please do have any info indicating that NPFMCRFBK will NOT pay dividend for 2020 year end? I read thorough above report and there is a confusing sentence that the management has not recommended payment of 20k dividend. At page 52 the report states: 'The Board of Directors, pursuant to the powers vested in it by the provisions of Section 379 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act of Nigeria
(CAMA), 2020, has not proposed a final dividend of 20 kobo per share (31 December 2019: final; 20 kobo) from the retained earnings account
as at 31 December 2020. This is subject to approval by shareholders at the next Annual General Meeting'. Am I misreading?
The report submitted is for 4th quarter and not FULL YEAR AUDITED REPORT.

Dividend can ONLY be declared after Audited report is out.

From historical perspective, NPF Microfinance has been declaring dividend since 2014 and this qualifies the company to be called a bluechip, also
the probability that company will declare a dividend for 2020 FYE is high.

'The Board of Directors, pursuant to the powers vested in it by the provisions of Section 379 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act of Nigeria
(CAMA), 2020, has not proposed a final dividend of 20 kobo per share (31 December 2019: final; 20 kobo) from the retained earnings account
as at 31 December 2020.

This statement is just to guide the investing public that though the company declared 20k in 2019 FYE but has not declared 20k for 2020 FYE

I understand that companies usually buy out shareholders at a premium when they want to delist from the stock exchange.. is it therefore wise to buy union diagnostics now in anticipation of the buy out at a premium?
Don't ooooo
If you buy now, your 35kobo per unit will be credited straight to your account after the qualification date.
Union Diagnostic will not be buying the shares at premium thereafter
