I paid 35k, I went with 40k BTW. Yes, I used my online Statment. Bank confirmed it's the same.
Hardheolar:

What is the naira equivalent of the visa fee and will the stamped and signed bank statement printed from my online banking suffice or it must be from the bank directly?

Hi bro. Were you able to get the visa and how long did it take to respond?
heroshark:

Omo to be honest I no know. I booked around April when I was not sure if I will still travel or not, as I was awaiting confirmation from my funders. I tried a couple of times and didn't see any appointment date.
One Saturday morning I tried and saw available dates I just decided to chose 13th May to allow considerable time to get the confirmation I needed and sort my documents.

Mine was just luck.

A journey that began on 23rd March, has finally ended.
I was refused and asked to come in on any Thursday for a follow up interview
I got there and was told to submit fingerprints.
Which I did and application changed to issued.
I picked up passport on 28th April in Abuja.
Same day I got a pick up mail from DHL.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it helped me mentally.
Cos this people are totally unpredictable.

I was able to fly out sane 28th.

Congratulations bro! What Visa category and what's your pd?

Hi guys. Please what's the current wait time to have an interview in Nigeria? My Priority date is 28th of May 2021. Our Cr1 case was expedited but it's in Frankfurt, Germany (Transferred from Kyiv,Ukraine due to war). I'm considering transferring it to Nigeria for ease as traveling to Germany isn't easy either. Please advise

Since Nigeria is your home country, I think it is better for you to contact the US embassy in Nigeria via email to enable them fix an emergency appointment for you here in Nigeria.

I don't think Nigeria is a choice right now. Firstly, I actually do not have any emergency reason tenable to expedite the interview. Secondly, I heard that regular interview dates aren't available until 2024!!!! imagine that!

The reasons are stated in what you posted. It's either those reasons are genuine or they just wanted to deny them.

If applying to a different Schengen country just don’t mention you are applying because you want to go to Germany. You’ll be flat out denied under Schengen visa rules.

That said, if Germany has an emergency visa application, I’d go that route. Perhaps under compassionate grounds with what’s going on in Ukraine, they might consider. Same with the consulate. Write them, explain the situation and provide ample evidence seeking feedback on whether they might consider you under emergency if you were to transfer the application from Germany. Last resort for me will be to apply to a different Schengen country.

Thank you so much bro. I have another enquiry please. Do you think it won't be problematic to apply for two Schengen countries at the same time? I'm considering Germany and Lithuania. Lithuania is said to have 98.4% Visa success rate.

Hi everyone. Please I need your response on this.
I recently left Ukraine due to the Russian invasion. Unfortunately, I was processing US CR1 Visa before this time which was recently transferred from Kyiv to Germany due to the war.

I'm currently in Nigeria and I've been reading how there are no appointment dates for German tourist visa. My US visa processing is at the last phase and I'd get an interview date at the US Embassy in Frankfurt anytime from now and I'd have only 3 weeks-1 month to prepare. My questions are as follows:

1. Do I apply for German tourist visa or official visa?
2. Do I transfer my US Cr1 case to the US Embassy in Nigeria? (Learnt it might take me almost a year to get a date)
3. What chance do I stand applying for German tourist visa and can it be expedited due to my circumstance? Thank you!

Hello there. I need your candid opinion on this please.

I got married to a US citizen but I'm currently in Ukraine and due to the unrest and uncertainty of war with Russia, all US consular services in Ukraine have been shot down. I have until August as a legal resident in Ukraine and our Cr1 (Marriage visa) is at the NVC level, meaning that, getting an interview date is the next thing. My questions are:

1. Do you think transferring my case to the US Embassy in Nigeria is a great option considering how overwhelming the backlog is over there?

2. Do you think remaining in Ukraine makes any sense as to not knowing when consular services would resume?

3. Do you think transferring my case to an African country where US consular services are faster is a great deal? If yes, please advise on which African country.

I really hope I get a helpful response and please I'll highly appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

Hi fam. My wife is a US Citizen and filed for our CR1 Visa since May 2021. Our PD is May 28th 2021. After the notice of receipt for i130, the only response we received from USCIS was "we are actively reviewing your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative..." and that was since 27th of October. Our Service Center is Texas. Please does anybody have any suggestion on when our i130 can be approved? I'm pitying my wife for having to come see me every now and then☹. Thanks for your response!

Are Nigerians still eligible for CR1 Visa and
Is US still granting Nigerians the Visa even at the expense of the immigrant visas ban? Someone told me they're, but I needed to post here as I believe there are a lot that have more knowledge and information on every issue here. Thanks in advance

Very precise! Thanks but I've got this question and will be glad if you can answer. Is US still granting Nigerians Cr1 Visa? Even at the expense of the ban

J111333:
Several Nigerians are of the opinion that the current US immigrant visa ban on the country is more about politics than security as claimed by US government and I'll like to quickly lend a voice against that impression.

Also some people have wondered why there's no ban on tourism visa, medical visa and their likes if it's all about security so let me quickly point out some facts.

For an immigrant visa to be approved and granted, there has to be a comprehensive background security check by Homeland Security which is why an applicant has to get a police certificate from Nigeria police(CID) in Lagos. There have been reported cases of where the police are more after the certificate fees than doing thorough jobs. Tourism and medical visas don't require that.
Unlike non immigrant visas that take short periods of time to be processed, immigrant visas take between two to ten years depending on categories except ofcourse a petitioner is in US military or a veteran. The long processing times give room for long history security checks on applicants.

Again, most acts of terror against the US have been proved to be aided by immigrants and they have noticed that those immigrants were mostly ghosts before moving to the US. Ghosts in the sense that their home countries did not gather and disclose enough security information about them prior to their migration to the States.

Some of these immigrants after becoming US citizens seek government jobs with high level security clearances which give them access to national security and you can imagine what happens if any of them is loyal to a terror group.

So in order to avoid such incident, the Nigeria police was long given some modalities on how to do and share criminal records of intending Nigerian immigrants to the States but their lackadaisical attitude and wuruwuru never gree dem do their job hence the visa ban.

Don't blame a man who protects his house rather fix your own house and if you must move to his house, be ready to abide by his rules.

I had a very concise interview. Before I proceed into proper details, permit to use this medium to thank Samuel (Sammy like I fondly call), Fortune, Fairheart, Mathew, Francis, Acers family, and a host of others I am yet to mention; these amazing lads gave me the mock interview and confidence (some deadly guts) to face my fears.

Sunday (4th Oct, 2020) is just like every other day where I casually mailed Lagos consulate with a view of booking an expedited appointment with no much expectations. I barely recall sending a mail that Sunday! On Monday morning, I got a mail from lagos consulate slating an appointment by Friday! FRIDAY? that must be a huge joke! How could I possibly pay sevis fee, fill my DS-160 form, get an updated I-20 to spring, going through the hassles of documents printing in just 4 days?! Hell no... I'm skipping this appointment. I was so damn sure about this on Monday but by Tuesday morning, I reflect on my thoughts and realized how golden this opportunity is. I presented my case before these great guys, Samuel and fortune who offered to help with documents printing errands and transcript drafting respectively, while I take care of other tasks.

Wasn't really thinking of the mock interview preparations until Thursday afternoon after arriving at my lodge close to the Lagos consulate at VI. It was a tedious experience filled with funny memories.

Thanks to the virtual mock interview organized by Mathew, Sam, Francis et al where I was given a friendly but yet, rigorous drilling, critiquing my transcripts which helped in boosting my confidence. Studied through the night with an open but yet prayerful mind...

By morning, I headed straight to the consulate; tho a walkable distance but I booked a cab. Upon my arrival, I focused my gaze on the scanty applicants (about 35 in total) contrary to the usual expectations. I shaped my mind and blended with the cue while I await my faith. Waited for about half an hour before the rain started (that's a story for another day). The CGFI official instructed us on the document arrangements while we align on a single line heading straight to the interview unit..............

The VO is in window 9, probably in his mid 30s. A very wonderful and yet witty conversationalist. He denied about 4 applicants ahead of me and issued 3 approvals. I won’t lie, my morale was dampened but I kept a straight face. A lady just ahead of me was literally begging the VO to reconsider his denial and almost not leaving the spot! (In my head I was like, hey pretty! Leave that spot before you annoy the VO.. don’t implicate me pls........)

Here goes my interview with the VO

VO: Good morning, pass me your passport and I-20.

Me: I obliged.

VO: What are you going to do in the US ?

me: I am going for a Master’s degree in Political science with Concentration in International Relations and Public Policy, in Texas Tech University, Lubbock.

VO: not a single word from him as he kept typing......(I wasn’t sure if he heard me but I kept my cool).. So who is sponsoring your studies?

Me- Well, I was offered a Graduate teaching assistantships with full tuition waiver and some monthly stipends to help offset my living expenses and my uncle will help with the deficits.

VO: ...keeps typing for a couple of seconds, this time around a bit longer than usual. So what does your uncle do?

Me- He works as a Real estate Developer and owns a wholesale supermarket.

VO: where does he work at?

Me: Lagos

VO: okay. ...keeps typing.... So where did you graduate from ?

Me- The University of Ibadan in May, 2018

VO: Have you ever travelled out of the country ?

Me- No sir, I had no reason to.

VO- Are you married ?

Me- No sir.

VO: What is your program start date?

Me: 04 January, 2021

VO: Oh! You said you graduated from University of Ilorin?

Me: No sir, I graduated from the University of Ibadan.

VO: I see... Okay. I will be approving your Visa. have your reciprocity fee paid at window 23 and make sure you make travel plans not more than 30 days before your program start date.. you will need your I-20 at the POE ...........blah blah blah... I smiled as he utter the golden words!!!

From what I observed, the interview lasted less than 2 minutes! No other documents requested. Financial statement was handy but he never asked.

Very much appreciated! Another blocking block might be simply because I had my first degree in Nigeria already cry

fairheart:

Looking your profile and considering trend of approvals and refusals at the embassies in Nigeria, at least for more than 2 years now, you don't stand a chance.
1, Your age is weigh too up for undergraduate, except you're a transfer student (meaning you're into a program in Ukraine and going to the US to complete it). I normally suggest that if you are above 22 years old, undergraduate visa approval is not safe. 23 may fly with funding on the i-20, but 24...the chance is very, very slim.

2, You said you're self-sponsoring this. Okay, let us say for example, the TCA is $25, 000, and you have $50, 000 in your account (since he said X2), what happens when you're out of fund is that you will become a public burden and probably drop out of status. This is how the consular at the embassy look at self-funding for applicants as young as you are. Now, I am asking you: where will you get money to continue in studies when your current fund is expended? I know you want to say you'll manage and survive and hustle, but looking at it from a consular point of view, it doesn't work that way. These people simply won't see it that way for you.

3, You don't have scholarship. My dear, my 1 cent advise for you is that, finish your undergraduate degree in Ukraine, and while you are doing that, plan for your Masters in the US. In my opinion, coming to Nigeria to reapply for the f1 is a pipe dream. Don't waste more money. Chances that you'll be refused is very, very high, but as Lagosismyhome advised, you choose what you want.

Self funding for a 4 year course.... even with 2x a year school fees that 2 years not to talk of living expenses . How do you intend to explain how you will pay for the last 2 years... even with a running business

I dont know if the VO see undergrad who are going as self funding. At that young age, coming from Nigeria it very difficult to self fund a 4 years degree . Even our parents who worked for donkey years it hard to train a child for BSC with no funding. How much more a 24 years . Even an american without student loans it hard for them to self fund how much more a Nigerian when naira is less

However I am not an actual VO so I can only give you what in my head. It left for VO to reason it and decide accordingly . so best to do what you feel right ...personally BSC with no funding, i would not be self funding. Find an uncle.lol
