A young and promising Enugu-based Nigerian rapper, Rappon D'victor has passed away weeks after releasing a song titled “if I die young.” The musician died after suffering from one illness to the other.
He had on the 10th of March this year posted about his challenges on Facebook saying: "It's being a challenging year for me, from one illness to another but I know God got me. I am getting back on my feet and the hustle continues."
His friends took to Facebook to mourn his death.

Lotanna Kacey Akachukwu wrote: "RIP Rappon. My blood. Your memories still remains fresh in my heart. We had a short stay together but feels like decades. *sad* I can remember I snapped this picture of you back then in ASO ROCK lodge. God knows best."

A woman identified as Mrs . Veronica Igwe, 38 , has reportedly offered her four- year- old daughter, Uloma Igwe, to her creditor as collateral for her N100 debt .

Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki , Ebonyi State on Thursday , the Desk Officer in charge of Child Abuse /Maltreatment Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development , Mrs . Cecilia Elom, said the ministry received an emergency call on Tuesday , informing them that Veronica had exchanged her four- year - old daughter because of her inability to settle N100 debt .
Elom said immediately her office received the report , officials of the ministry rushed to the CAS campus of Ebonyi State University Abakaliki , where the alleged creditor, Mrs . Josephine Nwali , resides.
“On reaching the residence , we saw little Uloma Igwe with another seven - year- old boy hawking . On interrogation , they confessed to have been lured into hawking by Mrs . Josephine Nwali who they were living with.
“Uloma ’ s mother , Veronica , informed our officials that she did not even know the woman she gave her child to . ”
Veronica said she had “business transaction ” with Mrs . Josephine Nwali at the Rice Mill Abakaliki in August 2017 , where she bought some items from her , after which she owed her N100 .

Veronica said she then suggested to her debtor that she could bring one of her children in exchange for the debt .
She maintained that she did not know the residence of the woman she handed her daughter to , but that the transaction took place at the rice mill where they do daily rice transactions.

Elom said the Igwes hail from Okposi Umuoghara in Ezza North Local Government Council of Ebonyi tate ; while Mrs . Josephine Nwali hails from Okoffia in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state .
“Officials of the Ministry of Women Affairs invited Mrs . Josephine Nwali to the Office, from where she was handed over to the Ebonyi State Police Command for interrogation , ” Elom said .

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Women Affairs has concluded arrangement to take little Uloma Igwe to hospital for proper medical treatment .

A final year student of the Department of Nursing, College of Medicine , University of Maiduguri, Fatimah Abu, is in a critical condition at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital , Gwange , after she was reportedly robbed , raped and bathed with chemicals by suspected robbers .
PUNCH Metro learnt that the 24 - year- old had boarded a tricycle at her school ’ s park on Friday en route to her residence when she was abducted by the men.

The two robbers allegedly took turns to rape her in a bush and poured chemicals on her body.
The chemicals reportedly caused blisters and burns on different parts of her skin .
Our correspondent learnt that the victim ’ s purse , containing her phone and some money, was taken away by the suspects , who dumped her by the roadside .
The victim , upon regaining consciousness, reportedly flagged down a tricycle rider, who took her to the Dandal Police Station .
The police then rushed her to the state specialist hospital, Maiduguri .

The victim ’ s friend , Musa Alkali , said she could not identify her assailants .
He claimed that the victim was bathed with acid.
He said , “ She is a 500 level student of the Department of Nursing, UNIMAID. She lives at the Federal Low Cost area and had boarded a tricycle from the university ’ s park .
“ That was the last thing that she said she could remember . She just woke up around a cemetery in the Gwange area with acid on her face . Her legs and different parts of her body were affected .

“She stopped a Keke Napep (tricycle ) rider who took her to the Dandal Police Station . She managed to come down from the tricycle and collapsed . She was taken to the state specialist hospital from where she was transferred to the UNIMAID Teaching Hospital .
“From what her sister told me , the robbers raped her and collected her phone and purse . The assailants were two in number . She said she boarded the tricycle around 5 pm . ”
Alkali said while he suspected that the attack might not be the handiwork of ordinary robbers , he could not tell if Fatimah had any problem with anyone .
He noted that the school ’ s park was usually crowded around the time she boarded the tricycle .
“We hope that when she recovers , she will give further information on the attack , ” he added .
Alkali told PUNCH Metro that Fatimah , who hailed from the Biu Local Government Area of Borno State , was in dire need of medical assistance as the family could not afford to raise money for her treatment.

The victim ’ s sister, Zara, while wondering what could have triggered the attack , told our correspondent that Fatimah was an easy - going woman .
She also maintained that acid was poured on her .
“She is my younger sister and I have been sleeping at the hospital since she was admitted . She cannot talk much because the acid affected her mouth as well . She does not know those people ( responsible for the attack ) . She is innocent. She does not quarrel with anybody . Even her classmates testified to it , ” she said .
Zara urged the police to identify , arrest and punish the culprits.

The UNIMAID Public Relations Officer , Mohammed Ahmed , said he was aware of the incident , adding that he could not comment because the incident happened outside the school .
He said , “ I am aware because I saw it on the television and the state Commissioner of Police commented on it . When something happens outside the university , I cannot comment. I just arrived from a journey and if I will say anything, I will need to get back to the school to make more findings .”

The spokesperson for the UNIMAID Teaching Hospital , Mabruka Gaji, said she had scanty information on the incident .
She promised to send the contact of the Chief Information Officer of the hospital, Ibraham Abacha , but she did not as of press time .
The state Commissioner of Police , Damian Chukwu , told our correspondent that acid was not poured on the victim , saying the police were on the trail of the suspects .
He said , “On the day of the incident , she said she went to a bank for a transaction and after she was done , she came out and boarded a tricycle . She said there were two other passengers in the tricycle and she sat in their midst .
“She said along the way , one of them came down , remaining her and another passenger . She said suddenly, the passenger brought out an handkerchief which he started waiving. She said she suddenly lost consciousness.
“According to her , she was sexually assaulted . She found herself around a railway line and she managed to get a Keke Napep which took her to the Dandal Police Station.

Tragedy struck in Ilorin, Kwara state over the weekend when a taxi driver suffering from epilepsy reportedly rammed his cab into an oncoming trailer, which ran over the taxi and instantly killed all five occupants who are reported to be students, including the driver.
It was gathered that the four other victims were students of the Mass Communications Department of the Kwara State Polytechnic, said to be returning home after finishing their examinations.
They were said to have boarded the taxi from the polytechnic gate to Oke-Ose area, on the outskirts of Ilorin, where the students reside.
The victims had reportedly said they would travel to Lagos on that fateful day to meet their families, having completed their examinations.

Eyewitness accounts said that the driver was seen behaving strangely behind the wheel after he took off from the polytechnic gate, and had to force the cab to a stop, a development that prompted the students to disembark from the cab.

However, following the interventions of passers-by and other colleagues of the driver, the students agreed to continue the journey.
The driver was also reported to have said he would go home and take care of himself immediately he dropped off the students.
But after driving for a few kilometres, it was gathered that the driver suffered a seizure, while the taxi was on top speed.

The cab, which lost control, initially hit a vulcanizer’s machine, which was by the roadside, before it swerved to the other side of the road, this time in front of an oncoming trailer, which crushed all the five occupants.
Sympathisers at the scene of the accident used an axe to cut through the squeezed taxi cab to remove the remains of the students and the taxi driver.
The corpses had been deposited at the nearby University of Ilorin Teaching hospital mortuary.

At least seven people were killed when a small plane crashed into house while trying to take off just outside the Philippine capital on Saturday , police and aviation officials said .
The twin- engined aircraft crashed into a house just after taking off in Plaridel town , killing all five aboard as well as at least two people others on the ground , said Superintendent Julio Lizardo

The death toll could rise as rescuers were still going through the ruins of the house, Lizardo , the town ’ s police chief said .
“We are still digging through the rubble. There may be more dead, ” he told AFP .
Officials declined to say what may have caused the crash of the Piper PA - 23 Apache operated by a local charter company .

Wife of the President , Mrs . Aisha Buhari , on Thursday , urged Nigerian women to make the abduction of girls in parts of the country the focus of the International Women ’ s Day .
Mrs . Buhari made the call in a message she posted on her Facebook page , Aisha Muhammadu Buhari . She described this year’ s celebration as one with a difference especially coming not long after 110 girls were abducted in their school in Dapchi, Yobe State .
She said she has decided to develop a local theme , # LeaveOurDaughtersAlone, as a strong call for the end to abduction .
The President ’ s wife wrote , “ Today, I congratulate Nigerian Women on the occasion of International Women ’ s Day . “ For us in Nigeria , this year’ s # InternationalWomensDay comes with a difference .

Residents of Jeun Makadi community in the Masaka area of Nasarawa State were shocked on Tuesday when they saw the corpses of newborn twin babies at a dump in the area .

Our correspondents learnt that the babies , who were suspected to have been dumped on Monday , were reportedly killed by wandering pigs .
When one of our correspondents visited the area on Tuesday, one of the corpses was still at the dump . The baby was injured in the face .
Residents said the other corpse had been carried away by the pigs .

PUNCH Metro learnt that some community leaders reported the incident to policemen from the Masaka division, who visited the dump .
A resident , who spoke on condition of anonymity , said people staying close to the dump confirmed that the babies were brought alive to the spot .
He said , “ We believe that the babies were left at the dump on Monday evening or Tuesday morning . When we got to the dump , pigs had already eaten one of the babies and escaped with the corpse . Some people staying close to the dump told us that there were indications that the kids were alive when they were abandoned .

“ There has been pandemonium in our area. People have been trooping to the dump when they get the information that newborn twins were abandoned there . Residents, who were at the scene of the incident , rained curses on the person that dumped the babies . They could have taken the babies to an orphanage or to a government ’ s shelter , not at our dump to be eaten up by pigs .”

A youth in the community , Garba Julius , said the community and the police were investigating the incident to unravel the culprits.

The Police Public Relations Officer , Nasarawa State Police Command , DSP John Kennedy , however , said the command had yet to receive information on the incident .
