I was surprised too when I found out.

As they say-Necessity is the mother of invention. The Bantu who lived in the African Savannah was quite comfortable with life,this is to say that he didn't need much innovations to better aspects of his/her life.Food was plentiful in the Savannah-he didn't think much about inventions such as irrigation to add more food stock.The weather was quite favorable-the need to build strong weather proof houses wasn't a concern,there was no snow or desert storms.There was no need for hot showers,no heating technology was needed .It is this kind of life that made us not think 'outside the box'

The environment made us who we are.We were also socialists in nature and religious.When Europeans separated the church from the statehood,they greatly made gains in science and tech.Read about the renaissance.In Europe we had the royal families and the noble men,educated men and the common men.This structure made them more capitalistic that they even thought of conquering distant lands to add more into their wants.

Africans couldn't come up with world changing ideas because of our diversity.We are so diverse.Our continent was so large.How could we communicate to even effectively share ideas in this large continent or even move about.In Africa,you'll have a small country like Kenya with 42 tribes,in UK you'll have the English,Scottish,the Irish and who else?

It is more like the tower of Babel,everyone speaks differently so that renders communication impossible! THE SHEER SIZE OF THE CONTINENT AND OUR DIVERSITY ARE ONE OF THE MAJOR FACTORS THAT MADE US LESS DEVELOPED IN TECHNOLOGY THAN EUROPEANS. We only have Eight major linguistic groups in Europe,large tribes enjoy large advantages.A piece of information that landed in Greece,would quickly reach the English group.You couldn't have this happening in Africa! Because this good innovation would have to bypass several languages and massive distances.

There are so many factors that make us have this 'low IQ' that everyone is talking about.However, you might say that you are more 'intelligent' than a bushman or a Khoisan but you probably won't survive if you were dropped inside the Kalahari or the Amazon simply because you aren't intelligent enough to survive in such an environment! You might have to rethink what intelligence really means and how to measure it effectively!

But there are so many factors that we Africans can't even phantom that draws us far away from development.

I still think the only thing that can make Africa great is togetherness. By depending less of Europeans.

If there is any technology innovation, such idea should be passed across every African country to also see if there could be any better innovation to drive and establish it.

If Only Nigeria sells cars,the rest should try to patronise, then there can be a check to further spur improvement

If we want to go on vacations, we should try to reduce the way we go to Dubai eg maybe going to lamu in Kenya,Zanzibar in Tanzania, travel to see the Great pyramid of Egypt etc

Organize various inter - relations amongst ourselves

The African Union should formulate more policies to strengthen ties between its member countries

etc

But I still think we need the Other world to still enhance and fast track our togetherness.
Shying away from them at this stage might still suffer us setbacks

Strictly speaking there is no difference btw Kenya and Nigeria.Niger-congo dominate with significant afro-asiatic and nilo-saharans.Nigeria is definitely the cradle of niger-congo so is the diversity of that ethnic group.Sudan possibly for NiloSaharan.Afroasiatic has to be either Egypt or Ethiopia or Sudan or Libya.

I think the issue of Ethnicity is very broad and complicated.


For instance

Yoruba in Nigeria is spoken in some parts of Brazil,Cuba,Jamaica etc

The government has invested in emergency and disaster management

Ensured that every major cities in Lagos has pedestrian bridges.

Increased no of road signs,every road in Lagos surely have road signs.
Invested heavily in health care system by upgrading all general hospitals and healthcare systems to world class.

Electrity, we aren't having adequate power but we know that there us a power project ongoing

Transport projects scattered across are to improve the welfare of its commuters,like wise the introduction of new buses and ensuring WiFi in public places and bus stops.

I can almost say that the government has done too much in investing in human capital.

There are low cost housing Estates on the mainland for low income earners



Nigeria has huge challenges but Lagos is lifting the burden for Lagosians.

We are not even contempted with Lagos because we want the whole Lagos mainland to be like or even better than the island
