Politics / Re: Only Few Nigerians Are Complaining About Buhari's Government - Lai Mohammed by samstels: 10:27am On Nov 07, 2017
nairavsdollars:
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture in this interview with select journalists in Lagos spoke on efforts being made by the Muhammadu Buhari administration to revamp the economy, Mainagate scandal and the recent threats by Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to resume bombing of oil installations. Excerpts:

What is your perspective on this Mainagate scandal. Don’t you think it is a major dent on this government especially on the anti-corruption war?

The fact that Mr. President, immediately the issue came to his knowledge ask for Maina’s disengagement is the most important thing. That to me is a clear signal that we do not condone corruption. There is no better way to handle the issue than this.

What is the federal government doing to revamp the economy and ensure the ordinary man on the streets feel the impact of our exiting recession?

YOU ARE A BIG FOOL .

IDIOT !!!!!!
As you are very much aware, this administration’s contract with Nigerians sits on a tripod: the fight against corruption, tackling insecurity and reviving the economy. Even our worst critics acknowledge the progress we have made in fighting corruption and tackling insecurity. But one area in which they have consistently criticised us is the economy. Right from the inception of this administration, we chose the path of seeking a lasting solution to the economic crisis plaguing the nation instead of engaging in a quick fix that may attract accolades but will not endure. We chose to be painstaking instead of engaging in palliatives. I am happy to inform you today that we are winning! Our well-thought-out policy, encapsulated in the administration’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), launched on April 5th 2017, is working and the results are beginning to show. In September, we exited recession and returned to the path of growth, after five consecutive quarters of contraction. As we said then, taking Nigeria out of recession did not happen by accident. It was the culmination of months of hard work by the administration and fidelity to its well-articulated economic policies. This administration will not relent in its determined effort to usher in a new dawn for Nigeria. We are winning the battle to revive the economy. We are fighting corruption like never before. We are tackling insecurity with a renewed vigour. While the naysayers, who are obviously in the minority, persist in their pastime of acting as a distraction, discerning and well-meaning Nigerians will continue to appreciate and encourage the good work of our administration.

You are the face of APC and the mouthpiece of the federal government. How do you feel when you say something and issue statements and people keep saying ‘It is a lie?

I have two burdens. The first is that I happen to be the face of the opposition and PDP has not forgiven me and they will never forgive me. I think they look at the magnitude of what has happened to them and they hold me solely responsible; which is not fair. But, I did my bit. Now becoming the face of government again, so it is automatic that whatever comes from Lai Mohammed, we must shoot it down as fake news and a lie. Unfortunately, my father gave me the name Lai also. So, it makes it very easy for them. But what I challenge them every time is please, give me one thing I said that is not true. Emotionally, you may not agree with me but in terms of facts and figures, I have never said anything which they can dispute. You don’t have to like it but you can’t deny that they are facts.

Politics / Re: "Muhammadu Buhari Toying With Jonathan’s Gentility" – Ijaw Youths by samstels: 6:54pm On Oct 26, 2017
HungerBAD:
And what can Jonathan do?

Herein lies the problem with Nigeria and that is tribalism, and this is bad.

I have repeatedly said it that the problem of Nigeria is not corruption, religion, bad governance or such. The number one problem is tribal and ethnic affiliation.

Everything in Nigeria is looked at from a tribal view. Nigeria has had plenty of Presidents, some corrupt and some not too corrupt.

But when Goodluck Jonathan came into the picture, even the Webster dictionary was forced to re-define the term " Corruption"

That the Government of President Buhari did not file corruption cases against Jonathan, his wife, PDP as a political party, thousands of Jonathan's hangers on and enablers is perplexing to me.

That a toothless bulldog like the IYC is suddenly talking and supporting Goodluck Jonathan , when even the corrupt Jonathan did not develop any part of Bayelsa as the Deputy Governor,Governnor,Vice-president and President is enough to show that the leadership of the IYC is a disgrace, and they should be overhauled.

I have started my gradual withdrawal of support for President Buhari,And the APC as a political party, for the simple reason that the fight against corruption that made me support them, is now a joke.

Goodluck Jonathan And his wife, just like the corrupt people inside APC now should be arrested and tried for crimes against Nigeria.

And the Government should not forget to pick up Obasanjo and Atiku along the way too. They got Nigeria into this mess collectively.

You should include IBB ,Abdulsalami and all former heads of state .IBB and co put us into this great mess and not GEJ

zoba88:
In a move to promote national unity and peaceful coexistence , a high-powered delegation of the Northern Governors Forum on Monday visited Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, commending him for taking urgent steps that led to the protection  of Nigerians living in the state.

The Northern Governors Forum delegation led by its Chairman and Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima had

Katsina State Governor, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri, Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu,  and Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong as members.

Shettima said that the Northern Governors were in Rivers State  to identify  with Governor Wike and commend the governor  for nipping the unfortunate  conflict  that erupted in Oyigbo Local Government Area.

I thought they said the ibos are the major problem of Nigeria ............Let them go you refused ......

Mad cows

The Northern Governors Forum said that the actions of Governor Wike, especially his state-wide  broadcast helped to restore peace, despite  the challenges.

He declared: "Governor Wike we are mightily proud of you.  We are mightily  associating  ourselves  with you. Nigeria is greater than political  differences. We belong to one political  family  and that is the Federal Republic of Nigeria .

"No interest should be bigger than the Federal Republic  of Nigeria. You believe in the Nigerian Project  . For that, we remain eternally  grateful ".

The Northern Governors Forum called for the enthronement of Peace building  measures despite the challenges  facing the country.

According to the Northern Governors Forum, no law-abiding Nigerians  deserve to be punished because of where they reside and do business.

Governor Shettima said despite the unfortunate incidents in Abia, steps have been taken  to ensure that there are no retaliatory  attacks in different parts of the country.

In his response, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike declared that he will continue to protect all Nigerians and foreigners  living in the state.

He said: "Rivers State  believes in the unity of this country. Rivers State will not be a part of those calling for the disintegration of Nigeria. We owe it as a duty to protect every Nigerian living in the state.

"I will not allow any group intimidate, harass or attack other Nigerians living in the state.  We are Rivers people and we belong to the Niger Delta ".

While stating that violence  can never lead to the resolution  of any grievances, Governor Wike  urged those who are aggrieved to embrace dialogue  in the interest of Peace and development.

"I am not against anyone who wants to protest  any grievances, but there are channels for such protests", he said.

Governor Wike added that the people of Rivers State have their own peculiar grievances  against developmental issues in the country.  He pointed out that as Governor, he has raised such issues, but will never  support the disintegration .

The launch of Operation Python Dance II by the Nigerian Army has raised tension in the South East of the country, leading to reported deaths in Aba, Abia state, and disruption to economic activities. Diamond Celebrities talked with Nollywood Director, Tchidi Chikere to know his view on the issue, read what he said below;

“Delia..do you believe in Biafra? I don’t believe in Biafra as a Geographical Entity, but as a state of mind and an economic entity. We remain in Nigeria and make our place an Economic hot spot. But with the kidnappings in the east..and murders etc..even that is a tall dream.

Except the south east government make security in the region topmost priority…Igbos will not bring their investments back home and develop the south east.

Let us continue to make noise about secession..it will only cost us more igbo blood and worsen the distrust and hatred of Igbos .

Who is this ?Is he looking for work

Right now there is no plan no strategy nothing..just noise and petitioning the UN..like the UN doesnt have enough problems on its hands already…Syria…North Korea…Isis. Etc
It is ill timed…before camouring for any Biafra..first things first..and those things will determine if Biafra is a worthy venture or not. These days you fight with your brains..not your fist.”

Politics / Re: No Igbo Person Is In Support Of IPOB Agitation For Biafra - Okorocha by samstels: 2:25pm On Sep 14, 2017
itsdumebi:
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has rejected reports that some Igbo leaders are throwing their weight behind the agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for secession.

Okorocha, who is also the deputy Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, made this statement recently at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State where he went to sympathize and donate relief materials to victims of the flood disaster in the State.

He noted that no sensible Igbo person would leave behind their responsibilities and support an agitation that appears to be childish in nature.

"I have always said IPOB is an agitation group but the captioning is bad when you talk of sovereignty within a sovereign nation and also talking of secession

Let me assure you that no Igbo person or man is in support of secession and people must see this as a childish act and we must stand up and address it before it becomes a national problem.

As for us leaders in that area, it will be insane for anyone to think that the IPOB leader will ask us to follow him to seek secession. So Nigerians must learn to address it specifically. If you are addressing IPOB you should be specific and not to address it as if it’s an Igbo affair.

So I must say unequivocally that no leader in Igbo land is in support of the IPOB activities."
