Nigeria's vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and presidential entourage arrived Makurdi, the Benue state capital to assess the level of damage caused by the flood in the state.
They were received by Gov. Samuel Ortom, members of the executive council and elder statesmen.

Thebest12: The senior special assistant to the president on prosecution, Mr Okoi Obono-Obla on Tuesday, September 5, urged the federal government to take over empty houses in Abuja and sell them.
Cross River-born Obono-Obla, who is also the chairman of the special presidential investigation panel for the recovery of public property, made this known when the Say no Campaign, a civil society organisation, paid a courtesy call on him in Abuja.
He stated that it was important for the government to collaborate with civil society groups in order to search out properties of looters of national treasury. . “I want the houses taken over, that is where CSOs will have to work together with us. “We have to take over those building and sell them and maybe put the money into education for our children. “I was appointed to work to galvanise the anti-corruption war this assignment is a very important one and I will do it well,”he said.
Obono-Obla also said that there was a law known as the Recovery of Public Property Special Provisions Act which had been in existence for the past 40 years without being implemented by successive governments. . He said that if that law was used, corruption would have been reduced drastically in Nigeria. “If you know public servants or directors that have properties, bring their names. I have been asked to focus on the public sector corruption which is the endemic one.
“We can investigate anyone with a source of wealth that cannot be explained.”he added. Earlier, the director of Say No Campaign, Mr Ezenwa Nwagwu, expressed the organisation's worry about the mode of prosecutions, especially those carried out by anti-corruption agencies.
He stated that the Say No Campaign and other Civil Society Organisations are ready to partner with the presidential aide to make his job easier. His words:“There are compromises involved. There are constraints in government that we don't have, so if we partner together, we'll be able to do much more. “We want to be able to screen out particular areas where we will be able to assist you. “There is a personality cult around the fight around the anti-corruption fight and that is not helpful. We want the citizens of our country to own the fight.” . The party made the allegation on Monday, September 4, in relation to series of allegations levelled against the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, by the senator representing Bauchi Central, Isah Misau.

aminulive: The Centre for Civil Society and Justice (CCSJ), made of members from the six geo-political zones of the country, on September 5, 2017, held a Peace and Unity Rally in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The rally terminated at the precincts of the Presidential Villa, where the people were addressed by Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The CCSJ members pledged support for President Buhari in his resolution to keep Nigeria together, saying they opposed any effort to balkanize the country.
They were led by Comrade Prince Goodluck Obi. Adesina, on behalf of the President, assured them that they were on a good course, stating that the President would uphold the Constitution of the country, and keep the nation as an indissoluble entity.
He added that just as good news had come on the economic front, with the country exiting recession, the salutary news would equally come from other sectors of national life, in the lifetime of the Buhari administration.

VastFinder: https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/59a8f892f292c.png Over 100, 000 persons are said to have been displaced by the massive flood currently happening in Makurdi, the Benue state capital. President Buhari in a statement released on his Facebook page, sympathized with the victims, adding that he has ordered officials of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, to mobilize its personnel and resources that would aid the affected communities. Read the statement below;
I have received with great concern reports of the flooding in Benue State, displacing, from early estimates, more than 100,000 people. I have directed NEMA to immediately mobilize personnel and resources to the aid of the affected communities and persons.
I will be monitoring and getting updates on the rollout of the Federal Government's humanitarian response to the disaster.
My sympathies go to the Government and people of Benue State.
I assure that the Federal Government will make available ALL the support and assistance needed by the Benue State Government and the affected communities.

These cars are almost 20 years old and will cost the drivers dearly in repairs, fuel and wasted time.
If he's genuinely trying to help, the least he could do is help the drivers, with state backing, to hire-purchase newer, low-fuel consumption vehicles. Nice analysis . Those passats are disaster waiting to happen .Any driver that accepts it is gone . |

This man as far as i can tell means well for his people. He might not be getting everything done or right, but at least he is making an effort, and that is why i don't get where the hate against this man comes from.
I mean a Kudos to any positive effort will not be out of place. I think they hate him because he dared to be different, and most importantly he does not share the warped sense of false biafran patriotism that most criminals share upstate.
