True you are in the wrong forum, you would get more advise in the property section. nevertheless, you are not supposed to pay for period of notification of a quit notice except if you were given before the expiration of your regular term. e.g. 6 months to the expiration of your 1 year advance payment. I hardly get into BB debates, cos 90% of people that argues about it have not used it before or used it once and cant keep up the subscription. What is there to hate about it? BB is costly to maintain cos of the monthly subscription but its not a reason to hate it. Half of what BB does Nokia can't do it, (Nokia is just coming up with the OVI) I would say iPhone greatly competes with a BB but its service/subscription is not worldwide so thats a major setback. I am not claiming BB is the best phone but its quite a useful device if you subscribe to the services. Please be objective and stop being sentimental. Also i am not excahnging derogatory terms with anyone so spare me the reply.

You can upgrade your blackberry OS or firmware or whatever its called, the advantages are numerous, your machine runs faster, smoother and it even resolves any problem your BB must have developed, eg hanging, short battery lifespan, improves performance greatly and adds new features.
How to do it? Well, download the latest Blackberry Desktop Manager from blackberry offical site to your PC, its like version 5.0.1, plug in your BB to your laptop or PC, it scans your BB and gives you applications on your phone that needs upgrading. Follow the prompt and you are on your way. For those with 2010 model BB, you are running on latest OS already so you don't need upgrading.
WARNING - Ensure you have a reliable internet connection cos long internet breaks may harm your phone.
NEVER NEVER disconnect your BB while the process is on or else forget you have a Blackberry phone.

The whole process takes like 1 hour but when its finished your phones comes out like a car that just had new engine.
