Angry Siasia issues deadline to Awoniyi, Alampasu

Abuja - Coach of Nigeria’s national U23 team Samson Siasia has expressed disappointment over the lackluster attitude of some Flying Eagles players, and as a result issued Friday deadline to report to the team's camp or forget about the invitation.
Goalkeeper Dele Alampasu, forward Taiwo Awoniyi and Captain Musa Muhammed are among the home based Flying Eagles players invited by Siasia for the African U-23 Championship qualifier between Nigeria and Congo, scheduled for Sunday, July 19 at the National Stadium, Abuja.
Expressing anger at the attitude of the players to the invitation, Siasia said he cannot understand why players who called to beg for permission to see their families and rest a little (after the FIFA U20 World Cup) would fail to report to camp after the one -week grace he granted.

"No player can hold the nation to ransom. This attitude of theirs is unprofessional. When the players arrived from the U-20 World Cup, they called me to beg for a grace period to rest a little, which I did, and they promised to report after one week. Siasia disclosed that the Friday deadline is to give the players the benefit of doubt.
It would be recalled that Coach Siasia had invited Captain Musa Mohammed, strikers Godwin Savior and Taiwo Awoniyi and goalkeeper Dele Alampasu who are based at home to report to camp on Monday 22nd June, while the overseas-based players Kingsley Sokari, Musa Yahaya, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon have been given until two weeks to the African U-23 Championship qualifier against Congo billed for Port Harcourt on July 19.
Already, Sharks FC defender Chima Akas and his Warri Wolves counterpart, Semiu Liadi alongside the overseas-based Umar Aminu, Shehu Abdullahi and Ikechukwu Okorie have all reported to camp, cutting short their break.

Something is telling that Buhari is not smart enough to lead us. he's not good in decision making (military roadblocks for example) He's not good in talking to the press(West Germany for example) he's not a good Positive motivator(babbon and Dog for example) even the corrupt people he promised to jail no single step have been taken to curb corruption talkless of jailing them. How will he do that when the people that are suposed to be in jail are still the people that will make the law for him. (Tinubu,Atiku,Saraki, Stella Odua, Alison Maduekwe,etc not to talk of our corrupt past leaders including the imidiate) he's too dull to or old to monitor what is going on in NAANs (for example: saraki the oposition candidate becoming the Senate President without his knowledge ) Buhari may be a stooge to the American government just as he was to Tunde Idiagbon during his military regime.

AN Osun State judge, Justice Oloyede Folahanmi has called on the state House of Assembly to investigate the alleged mismanagement of the state’s financial resources by the governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy in accordance with Sections 128 and 129 of the 1999 constitution, saying there is no moral justification for their continued stay in office.
Folahanmi, in a 30-page petition urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC, United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, Amnesty International, Transparency International among others, to investigate any other person found to be responsible for what he described as ‘’ deliberate mismanagement of the economy of Osun State.’’
The petitioner further accused Aregbesola of acting in defiance of some sections of the constitution which bordered on the welfare of Osun indigenes.

The petition reads in part: ‘’I am propelled by the desire to see the pains of my fellow human beings ameliorated and to possibly, help take away the reproach of our state as “A bankrupt” and “A failed state” and the desire to join hands with other like minds to help salvage the sinking ship of Osun State.
‘’I declare that in addition to the media-hype of Osun’s parlous financial condition, I have firsthand experience which constitutes evidence of the unfortunate situation in which Osun currently finds herself.
‘’Even Mr. Governor has admitted publicly, the fact that Osun is in financial quagmire and that he is clueless on how to pull her out of the doldrums. Mr. Governor’s argument that salaries can only be paid from statutory allocations is also faulty, we demand that he substantiate his claim by giving the section of the law that so provides. In any event, all funds, all allocations and all expenditures are expected to be backed by legislation, and are statutory, otherwise, they are illegal.
‘’Consequently, the admitted inability of Mr. Governor and his deputy to pay pensions, salaries and allowances for periods ranging from eight to 11 months now, as a consequence of their own decision to accumulate debts beyond the capacity of the state’s internally generated revenue, whilst the very ‘ actors’ Mr. Governor and his deputy continue to enjoy their security allowances in hundreds of millions, is a violation of their oaths of office.
‘’Their action in this respect is as illegal as it is immoral and unconscionable. It is an evidence of their inability to discharge the functions of their office. There is therefore no legal or moral basis for their continued stay in office.
‘’Neglecting the welfare of members of the community under the guise of wanting to provide infrastructure, runs contrary to the teachings of Christ, the son of God, Jesus of Nazareth. The provision of infrastructures at the expense of human lives and the dignity of man is therefore repugnant to natural justice, equity, and good conscience and must be denounced as abominable. It contradicts Principle 1 of the Stockholm Conference.
‘’Instead of pursuing the noble ideals enshrined in our constitution, the ideals of social order, and “ensure a just world economic order” and “universal brotherhood” Mr. Governor and his deputy are assiduously working against it, as exemplified by the cruel, and harsh debasement of pensioners and civil servants by deliberately and maliciously withholding their salaries for months, in an attempt to brow beat, subjugate to take away their God given free will, and reduce them to mindless robots, with herd mentality, devoid of the ability to take any decision for themselves and unable to assert or actualize themselves!
‘’To this end and for this reason I am sure other well -meaning and concerned members of the Osun community are hereby calling on honourable members of the state House of Assembly to pick up the gauntlet and redeem themselves by giving effect to the provisions of Sections 128 and 129 of the Constitution, empowering them to investigate and bring to justice, all those who have corruptly enriched themselves at the expense of Osun and her people.’’

Siasia invites Norway-based defender Akinyemi

Nigeria U-23 coach Samson Siasia has invited Norway-based central defender Sola Akinyemi ahead of next month’s crucial CAF Championship qualifier against Congo.
Siasia’s Dream Team will welcome Congo to Abuja on July 18 in a first leg qualifier for the Olympic qualifier to be staged in Senegal in November.
The 22-year-old Akinyemi has previously tried out with Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, prior to the 2013 U-20 World Cup in Turkey. He is expected to shore up the defence of the Olympic team which Siasia has admitted could be a lot better.
Akinyemi is due in the team’s training camp in Abuja later this week.
Siasia has embarked on a massive reorganization of his team a month to the Congo clash with the dropping of seven players and the drafting of several Flying Eagles stars led by Taiwo Awoniyi.

ABUJA- CRISIS rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC over the selection of principal officers for the Senate, Tuesday deepened as the meeting of the caucus members of the party in the upper chambers ended in deadlock.
At the meeting of the APC senators to address the problem, some senators engaged in physical combat thereby bringing the meeting to an abrupt end, leaving the wounds further opened.
At resumed plenary, Senate President Bukola Saraki had after adjournment announced that a meeting of the APC caucus was fixed for 2:00pm.

According to a source, the meeting which was the first time the two camps (Saraki and Lawan ) would agreed to a meeting after Saraki edge out Ahmad Lawan in the race for the Senate presidency. The meeting was held behind close door in meeting room 3: 01 and had about 40 APC Senators in attendance.
At the meeting, Senator Danjuma Goje, Gombe Central led the group loyal to  Saraki on one side, while Senator Barnabas Gemade, Benue North East led the group loyal to Lawan.
Declaring open the meeting, Saraki said, ” I appeal to you all to let us do those things that will unite us than to those that will divide us. For me, I am ready and desirous, as colleagues to work with all of you in order to provide that focused leadership in the Senate and National Assembly as an institution.
A source told Vanguard that the position of Saraki’s group was that candidates must emerge through an electoral process, the four favoured zonal caucuses should meet, conduct elections at zonal levels, then communicate winners of such elections to the Senate President and that once the zonal caucuses conclude their elections by the end of Tuesday, the Senate President would announce those to fill the posts at Wednesday plenary.
The Unity Forum which supported Lawan were opposed to it as they insisted that the names nominated by the APC leadership to take the positions be adhered to.
 
There was a melodrama when  Senator Kabir Marafa, Zamfara Central,  pushed and attacked Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Ondo Central for daring to challenge the decision of the party.
Alasoadura was saved by the timely intervention of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara) who held Marafa firmly and prevented him from hitting at his target. Other Senators also joined in saving the ugly situation even as rains of abusive words intensified from all angles in different languages.

Abuja - Embattled Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has advised the Nigeria Football Federation to offer the Super Eagles job to another coach if they no longer want his services, instead of ‘spoiling my name’.
 
The ‘Big Boss’ is set to appear before the NFF Disciplinary Committee today after the Ivorian Football Federation claimed he had applied to coach their senior men’s national team, a development which has forced the Glass House to summon him before its Disciplinary Committee.
 
But speaking ahead of the hearing, Keshi said he would speak to the committee first before making more comments, but says he is tired of the whole issue.
 
“I have to talk to them (disciplinary committee) first,” he was quoted on Brila FM.

Osogbo—Governor  Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has expressed regret over his inability to pay salaries for months now.
He however added that contrary to reports, he was not helpless about the unpaid salaries of civil servants in his state because he has Allah.
Delivering a Ramadan Lecture at the Women Development Centre, Abuja, the governor used the occasion to debunk reports that he ever said he was ‘helpless’.
He delivered a lecture titled : “Ramadan, Living in The Season of Positive Change”at the event organised by the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society.
Aregbesola said, “It is extremely painful that I cannot pay salary. It is painful that I have to be in this condition.
“I am not helpless because I have Allah and the people with me. And whoever has Allah and the people has everything,” he said, assuring that he was making efforts to pay the outstanding salaries of the civil servants soon.
He noted that the state borrowed up to N25 billion from banks to support the allocation from the federation account to pay workers salaries but the banks have refused to continue lending him money.
He explained that the state’s wage bill was N3.5 billion monthly and his administration has found it difficult to pay in the face of dwindling allocation in spite of increase in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N900 million to N8 billion annually.

“I didn’t envisage that 400,000 barrels of crude oil would be stolen daily. But the whipping boys must be the governors and I am the ‘Chief’ of the whipping boys,” Aregbesola said.
He expressed delight with the re-emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s leader. Also, the governor hailed the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society which organized the event.
Aregbesola said “terrorism is a challenge to Islam and it is the Muslims who will solve it”.
He maintained that Islam does not support killing without judicial ruling.

Meantime, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Osun State has described as insensitive and callous the statement credited to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC that workers in Osun state constitute less than one percent of the population.
Speaking on behalf of the party Prince Diran Odeyemi, the Director, Media and Strategy said the APC has publicly shown to the world that it has lost focus and not responsive to the plight of Osun citizens.
According to the party, “The APC arithmetic of 1% civil servant is a formular coined for them after the election forgetting that these hard working servants are financiers of over 90% of the populace in the state.

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday said that he inherited a “‎virtually empty treasury” with debts running into hundreds of millions of Dollars and appealed to the media to explain the true position to Nigerians so that “they won’t match on us”.

The President who spoke while meeting with members of the State House Press Corps said it was a disgrace that Nigeria is not able to pay workers salaries adding that this was as a result of bad management.

According to him, there was ‎already a lot of pressure on his government due to the huge expectations of Nigerians on what they desire from the administration.

While calling on the media to cooperate with his administration‎, President Buhari said he choose Femi Adesina to be his Adviser because he is ‘one of the best’.

“It is not by accident that I got the best of you to be the special adviser, one of the 15 aides  I had to get clearance from the Senate‎. ABUJA – CIVIL Groups in their hundreds on Monday morning trooped to the streets of Abuja in a peaceful protest against the Amnesty International (AI) report against the Nigerian Military, describing it as vindictive, lacking in merit and an international conspiracy against the people of Nigeria.
The protest, which started around 9am from the Catholic church close to AYA junction down to the United Nations office in Abuja, according to the group, was to register its displeasure against AI report which discredited ‘our military’.
The AI report tagged: “Stars on their Shoulders, Blood on their Hands” had alleged extra judicial killing and human right abuses by the Nigerian Military in the ongoing war against Boko Haram in the northern part of the country, recommending top military officers, serving and retired for trial in International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes.
The President of the Coalition of Civil Society Group (CCSG), EtukBassey Williams, who spoke on behalf of the protesters, told newsmen that most of the information in the AI report was largely false to satisfy a clandestine motive.
He alleged that the AI was commissioned by “some Muslim elites in the north, who are sympathetic to the Boko Haram cause” to sabotage the county’s efforts against insurgency.
Williams disclosed that they were in UN office to submit their stance to the UN Secretary General, Ban-ki-moon, demanding apology from AI while passing vote of confidence on the Nigerian Troops.
He maintained that Nigerians could not be pinched against their military through ‘cheap blackmail’, wondering why AI refused to focus its activities on Boko Haram and their sponsors, saying “AI should not play politics with terrorism, but be objective, meticulous and holistic in their assessment and investigations.
Continuing, he said; “Enough is enough! This is political witch-hunting, AI should be stopped. At this point, we are calling on UN secretary to call Amnesty International to order.
“The report of AI is political, inhuman and international conspiracy against the Nigerian Military and the people of Nigeria.
“AI should leave the Nigerian military alone with the good work they are doing against the Boko Haram. Since the Military started this war no international support, why should they (AI) come now and victimizing our military?
“We pass a vote of confidence on the Nigerian Military and also call on AI to withdraw that petition against the Nigeria Military in the International Criminal Court (ICC).”
While collecting the letter from the coalition for onward submission to the UN Secretary General, Ban-ki-moon, the UN official , who preferred anonymity said they would ensure that the report is delivered timely to the appropriate authority.
“We are not suppose to react to this, ours is to collect and submit to the UN Secretary General,” the official told reporters who asked him for reaction.

Buhari To Provide Free Education, Social Welfare For Unemployment With Subsidy Removal


As part of his new administration’s plan to enforce total fuel subsidy removal, president Mohammdu  Buhari is considering using the proceeds for the provision of free and compulsory primary secondary education across the country.
The administration is also said to be working on unbundling the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to make it more efficient in the production and delivery of products to Nigerians.
These proposals form part of the strong recommendations made by the transition committee raised by Buhari to work out a blueprint for his administration.
Asked if the proposal for the total subsidy removal had been discussed with labour, the source said that members of organized labour in the country were consulted by the committee and they made presentations on what should be done over the matter
