Billyonaire: Tinubu keeps making himself look stupid 99% of the time, the remaining 1% is when he is serious in the bedroom. A political philistine who believes in money more than his people. A man who had a little less than 10million naira before contesting political office but enriched himself with billions straight from the Government purse, with billions worth of properties at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and United Kingdom, has no reason to criticize a President who owns a moderate house in his village and little or nothing more but ascends the top position to listen to the poor who needs a forum to vent their displeasure on salient national issues including State Police, Equitable Distribution of Resources, True Federalism etc.hmmmmm, the great yoruba dynasty?oga you are nothing but a fraudster, tinubu state his own personal opinion and all you guys are shivering, hmmmm I guess he saw through Gej and his aides tricks,if the president is sincere he wouldn't have responded to an individual opinion, tinubu never oppose the dialogue,he stated his own opinion and he asked questions,Gej,Okupe should have answered those questions rather than attack his personality. The people of the SW have being clamoring for sovereign national conference, not national dialogue whose recommendations would have to be approved by the Government, that to us the people of the SW is the Greek gift. |
ballabriggs: Like Abati, to expect the truth from Okupe is to expect a dead man to dance.flip flop?that's too much grammar for an average Nigerian, the president said he won't contest in 2015,(I pray he does btw)he has the right to whether he promised or not, after he was elected in 2011 he introduced the single tenure bill which was rejected,Abati said the president was not going to benefit from it,only for the President under the current brohaha to say that not contesting in 2015 was based on the single tenure bill which was rejected, please whose face is now volte? The point is that Gej is economical with the truth. Like tinubu said, dust the recommendations from Obj's national conference remove the third term issue from it,let's start from there. BTW am totally for National dialogue,I know the SW will ask for true federalism,SS will ask for resource control or 50% derivation,I don't know what the SE will ask for, maybe succession?I have no idea what the core North and the middle belt will bring to the table, either way its going to be interesting. |
Sloan: LOL...see whopping! The same guy was in an argument about how the whole of Nigeria depends only on the oil in the ND and refuses to listen to any rational arguments. It doesn't matter if you add bold and italics to your capitalized posts (SHOUTING), he is programmed not to reason from basic facts since the retardeenic government propaganda and agenda has already gotten into him.am with you on true fiscal federalism, all the talk on Gej national dialogue won't work, but can you guys enlighten us on the non oil revenue that is more than oil receipts? |
kalokalo: You are absolutely right. The contract sum for this project has been grossly inflated by at least 200%. The standard international benchmark cost to produce a megawatt of power is $1million. That power plant should not cost more than 1 billion Naira at the very highest in Nigeria.I don't have a problem with the power plant, what I have a problem with is the cost,3billion for 10mv?its a disgrace and disgusting,we need to know the details of the contract, its ridiculous, As a Lagosian and an admiral of BRF,pls I need to ask question on this project, pls EFCC /ICPC kindly find out how much it cost to provide this kind of project elsewhere. |
I don't have a problem with him contesting,I think he should, but what I have problem with is his integrity, our president is a blatant liar. Trying to twist fact in 21st century that he never said he was not contesting is nauseating,he could have own up and ask for more time people will understand, but lying.......nah that's too bad. |
eGuerrilla: You are right actually. The prolonged ASUU strike is like an ill windplease help me to inform/tell/educate senator Egba the % of $5.9billion from $15 trillion,my phone will pack up if I try to compute the 0.0000 whatever, compared to the 5% of the budget he talking about, that is not too much, thanks. |
manny4life: Should LG be seprated from the state govt? Can't NASS amend the Constitution?shift your focus to your state house of assembly, that where the power to control the LGs resides,we are too transfixed on the central,I bet you don't know the name of your rep at your state assembly, try and get his name, find out how many wards is he representing,if you can(get the list of the registered votes in those wards from inec)that is if you can oooo or go to court they will give you the list, with that list people in those wards can recall a rep in state house of assembly if he didn't do their wish and he is a stooge of the Governor. If we can recall them they will serve us better, Now the question is Have we ever tried or succeed in recalling them? |
anonimi: Thanks for the above. Yet we call Jonathan clueless when indeed the 160 million of us citizens are the most clueless hence we do not know who our LG officials are and what they should do.please enlighten me,this post you just quote there,is it part of the constitution? If it was,WHO THE HELL WROTE that crap? The 1999 constitution is just full of mistakes, Federation can only have two tiers not three not four not ten, just two,the central/union government and the states. Local government is just a nomenclature, before they were called LGAs they were called town councils, municipals etc just like you have them in other countries where they can be called district/provinces/county/circuit,its all in the name. The problem with out LGAs is the constitution, the constitution calls Nigeria a federation at the same time recognise LGAs,that's an aberration,an abnormality. A state might decide to have just two LGA another one might decide to have 100 depending on its resources, That is why the lagos state government won its LGA case at the supreme court. It doesn't matter what we call them,it has always being there and it will always be there. The solution. For them to functions effectively we must hold our state assembly to account, they are the real problem, most Governors have the state house of assembly in their pocket,we has the people must wrestle the house from the Governor,it is only then that the LGAs can function well,if the house refuse to sign a budget for the governor, the money will get to the LGs and they will fix the road on your street. Pls forgive me for my epistle...this country is just annoying we need true federalism not national dialogue or SNC,we done that before it didn't work then it won't work now. |
eGuerrilla: After pointing out my obvious gaffe, is it not rather shameful that you managed not to contribute one iota of sense to this debate?please don't mind him,its ASUU strike jare, BTW,I think it will be better if you can give us the budget of either the USA vis a vis the cost of running their congress, the UK is a parliamentary system, the executives(ministers)are part of the legislative body. Ndoma Egba should understand that their budget is just ridiculous, the budget is not for people in government alone, but all Nigerian. I pray for fiscal federalism, let the states pay for their senators and reps, states with more money will pay more for their senators and reps, the ones without money will look for ways to make sure they have to measure up. |
solomon111: only three states can survive without federal allocation?dnt know why you guys have to mention SW everytime,Agricultural power house in SE?well that's a new one, Maybe ekiti will be asked to merge back with Ondo, but the other states would fare well once they are allowed to control their resources. I don't see anything coming out of a mere dialogue if its not sovereign, what we need is true fiscal federalism, not talk talk workshops,Abacha and Obj did it nothing changed. |
Just saw a clip of the man all of you are having hypertension for on tvc news,he was on a stationary bike,he looks hale and healthy to me sha,so you guys can close this thread now ooo, sorry most of you were disappointed. |
Sincere 9gerian: I can understand sporadic attacks by few Boko Haram elements but seriously I cant understand why they should still have the capacity to stage such massive attacks in areas under lock down by the military in the last 6 months? This is a serious indictment on the military and the leadership of Ihejirika. Is there a connection between the disbandment of JTF and replacement with new military division and this upsurge or relapse? This is very sad. It seems we started celebrating too early. Boko Haram seems to have recovered from the initial set back and even overcomed the problem of disconnection of GSM. Maybe the GSM should be restored so that atleast people can call for help when the need arises seems it no longer hinders Boko Haram attacks. The military itself seems to lack information or intelligence on the capacity of Boko Haram because they gave the impression of a dying Boko Haram before this upsurge.please let's face this issue and leave politics out of it,way back in 2005 I told a friend that Nigeria should watch out because of the militancy in Niger republic and Chad,a fellow nairalanders serving in the military told us that most of the boko haram people are kanuri and mercenary, banditry is a common thing in that area, boko haram are bandits using religion as a disguise. If Nigeria military need help they ahod just request for it.if the French didn't step in Mali conflict,do u think we can do anything there?I think they need help. |
omonnakoda: Do I know you? What is this "we" you are talking about?you are on a faceless forum and you are asking if you know someone?is that the best you can come up with?I don't know you either, and I don't want to,unless you are not YORUBA,then the "we"is not applicable to you. |
omonnakoda: I doubt very much you went to school otherwise you will not ask me to prove a negative. Can you prove there is nothing like mami water? If any body claims there is mami water it is there job to prove it not the job of those who disagree.the way some of you guys go about asking some questions is way below belt, and you are making enemies for other yoruba people like me,how many thread have you opened to ask what fayemi and Ajimobi are doing?how do we in SW industrialise our region? Akpabio said he will do it before the end of his tenure, that statement is subjective,it might mean that he will start work on it,someone just told you that they are building the longest bridge in the state to connect to the port, you are asking for roads and rails to link to other states, are the roads and rails going to be on the water? Abeg let's face our own problem first,if the port comes up Good, don't let others think we don't want them to develop with a thread like this pls. |
I do share your opinion, those guys are giving channels TV a sleepless night,if they get on Dstv they will have a wider reach |
Billyonaire: The Crude Oil comes from the Soil of Niger Delta and belongs to the masses, but it is the Federal Government that expended her resources to dig up the ground and bring it out. It is the reason that Amaechi, Akpabio and the rest of the Governors are shared these funds, based on Revenue Sharing Formula so they can provide amenities for the masses.really?Ameachi is the sole reason why Ghana's economy is booming?....hmmmmm you need to tell us more about that oooo. BTW let him boast about all he has done until it become a norm for politicians to do their job in Nigeria,Ameachi can raise his head among them. Mr smart billionaire, there is a difference between the federal govt and the federation.Ameachi gets money from the federation acct not the federal govt.gerrit. So he can say whatever he likes about the federal govt. |
I don't think the idea of either sovereign or not national conference is the answer, what if they don't agree what will happen?fiscal federalism is the answer to our problem Let everyone use what they have to develop their state.most state gov are to lazy. |
amarilo: Funny enough their wishes seems to be the command of the south west at the moment.funny enough, their wishes seems to have being the command of the southeast, from independence,Zik Ahmadu bello,2nd republic Shagari EKwueme,3rd republic Nzeribe court order used by babangida against Abiola,4th republic SE voting Obasanjo against the wish of the southwest, which was the wish of the generals nd the north, plus PDP a northern party always hold sway in the SE. So tell me who is really the master and the slave here? |
chima12: This guys account has been hacked.its difficult to find a yoruba who doesn't live a life of denial.very funny,am very much in control.there are a lot of Yorubas like me. |
gregg2: Is there pipeborne water in Lagos? The so called water works is only on pages of newspapers and internet sites.av got pipe borne water in my house in ilupeju, same with many place in Ikeja,Anthony, bode thomas,Adelabu, apapa, shomolo, ikoyi, those are the ones am aware of,Uyo city is not even bigger than Ikeja local government, why are you guys comparing Fashola and Akpabio, its a sacrilege. |
emiye: Arisekola is also in to manufacturing, he has an industry in ibadan, lister mills.noted,am also aware of leyland motors, for the acclaimed richest man in ibadan,he can do better and employ thousands. |
geeez: This man is only all about 2015 and has since ceased to attend to the business of governancewhy can't you guys be objective, yrs we dong like Gej but where the hell is he going to get $12billion to bribe them, how much is Nigeria budget for him to take out $12 billion? |
ketoprofen: in dat case, state how oyo state is beta dan enugu state.in that case I can see the why you fail in comprehension, when some one says there is no basis for comparison, you are still saying one is bettefthan the other,I told,GDP oyo is better, standard of living Enugu is better, now let me ask you again, would you prefer to live in Norway or China? |
Orlando Owoh: What then are you saying? I brought these people when you said the South West is not doing much in industrialization like the South East. You mentioned Akure, Ife, Ogbomosho, etc as not being industrialized.two out of the 5 names you mentioned do not have any industry I know of,apart from Adenuga, okoya and adedoyin has being in business since the 70s,they are getting old, can't we have younger industrial mavericks?is this not stagnation? Why can't we have another innoson in akure, another emzor in ilesha, another Zinox in ogbomosho? Porsche the headquarters and main factory are located in Zuffenhausen, a district in Stuttgart, but the Cayenne and Panamera models are manufactured in Leipzig, this are not the major cities in Germany. |
Sincere 9gerian: Ignorance is indeed a DISEASE. Did you just say railway REHABILITATION has been going on since Abdusalam regime? Are you dumb, joking or what? Do you think it takes forever to rehabilitate railways? The rehabilitation of the eastern line (PH- Enugu-Makurdi-Maiduguri) started only in 2011 and will be completed end of this year. Even construction of new railways do not take that long.Ehmmmmm you are so right ignorance is truly a disease,I wonder how you got infected,I just told you I have a first hand knowledge that the Lagos narrow gauge rehabilitation was 75% complete before Gej assumed power you are asking me if it takes for ever to build rail tracks?you said pH maiduguri line will be ready before the end of this year?ha ha ha ha you are very funny because you don't have any idea about what you are talking about.let them commission it by the end of the year, then wecan talk.Guy pls upgrade or your boss will fire you. |
Orlando Owoh: Are you saying people like Okoya, Iyiola Omisore, Adenuga, Arisekola and their likes should go into manufacturing?do you reside in Nigeria?okoya Adenuga are already into manufacturing,I don't know about Omisore and arisekola those are political jobbers. |
4 Play: This analysis is flawed. When foreigners invest in Nigeria, they bring in foreign capital into the country which is a good thing. Of course, they will repatriate their profits, but if you add the capital they brought in plus the multiplier effects in terms of jobs and skills created or enhanced for their Nigerian employees, the net outcome is good for Nigeria.I don't know where/how/when/who told us that big lie that without foreign investors or FDIs we can't be industrious and earn foreign currency through export. Japan, china, even America at one point in time in their history had closed economy. All the multiple effect of creating jobs, paying taxes were put into consideration in my analogy. When you invest 1 million dollar setting up a factory in Nigeria in the 1st two years, after the two years you did not bring in a cent into the economy, rather you make ten 10million dollars in five years which u take out of the economy to your own country, how is that good for the economy? You can't have a business in China without the Government making sure 40% of your profit stays in their country.corporate taxes in Scandinavian countries is 45% on the average, have you asked your self why are all this places better than places with lesser tax regime. |
Sincere 9gerian: This is why I love true yorubas. They know the TRUTH and will stand by it any day, any time. They voted massively for GEJ in 2011 and they'll do it again and again, notwithstanding the lies and propaganda of false yorubas (NL Tinubu rats) and their evil partners.oga in your dreams,we don't like Obasanjo,Gej still has two years to atone for his sin,he has ruled for four years now,all we can ascribe to him is refurbished airports?please don't tell me railways cos I know a lot about that project,he did not buy a single locomotive, the project was nearing complete 75% before Gej came on board, the chinese has being working on the narrow gauge since Abdulsalam administration #fact, they never foe once abandon the project,go to railway compound in ebute metta they will tell you the truth. To be honest power has improve but giving Gej the credit is anothe crazy lie,are the improve power generation coming from plants he built?the ans is no. Se expected a lot from him he is busy fighting Ameachi,he was vice president of ASUU uniport chapter, now ASUU is on strike.he should perform we will vote for him,if he doesn't we won't,btw we don't like Obasanjo either. |
Orlando Owoh: Why type of industries should be built in places like Akure, Ondo, Ife, Ilesha, etc, that you mentioned? And what is wrong with having industries built by foreigners?my brother there is nothing wrong with foreigners building industries, but its better if one of our own build those industries to prevent capital flights,do you know how much MTN is taking out of the economy?let me brake it down for you. We sell our crude oil, earn dollars lodge it with Cbn, Mtn makes profits in naira buys the dollars we lodged at Cbn takes the dollar to a bank in south Africa. The naira get weak, the rand get stronger, because the dollar is now in a south African bank. Imagine if mtn nigeria sells at least 60% of its shares to the Nigerian public, that means 60% of their profits will remain in Nigerian banks, thereby making the Naira stronger and the purchasing power of Nigerians higher. Can we identify why we can't have more indigenous industries in SW? Please we all know power is a problem, But if they can have innoson, zinox computers and other indigenous manufacturing companies in the southeast, what the hell is stopping us in the SW?all the billionaires in the SW what are they doing? |
asha 80: are you sure you are from the sw?if you want to know, just go to my profile and view my earlier post,am from the SW,I think we can do better than all this.if there are industries in those cities and towns I cited please name them cos I need to know. |
We YORUBAs need to start healthy industrial competition among our cities and towns, most of the cities and town in southwest are either civil servants or agrarian,to be honest most are nothing to write home about, apology to who might be offended, ile ife is a ghost town without OAU,Oshogbo a capital is sleepy, ogbomosho has nothing to write about, akure, ondo, ekiti are all civil servant town,I dare call them cities,Ibadan has some places that are wonderful, oluyole estate, new bodija, ashi, other suburbs are just there,Abeokuta has a lot of potential but its just a semi commercial city, truth must be told and am happy the southeast is giving us a run for our money. One of the thing that I have noticed, which is a major drawback is unionism of all commercial activities in southwest, why would I invest millions in a business and am expected to do business at the fixed price from the union?what if I decide to sell at a lesser price? The truth is bitter we need to wake up. |
I don't know why you guys are not tired of all this nau? A simple question, where would you prefer to live Switzerland or Russia?Norway or China?Australia or India? GDP does not reflect the true standard of living Oyo state might have a higher GDP than enugu state mainly because of higher population but the standard of living in enugu is higher. Its not fair when you compare the two states, population, land mass, you will get five enugu in oyo,yet the federal allocation is almost the same, for the month of May,oyo state got 24 billion, enugu got 16 billion, remember that population and landmass oyo state is five time bigger than enugu, its only natural that enugu will have more funds for development than oyo. What we need is true federalism, let every state use her resources to develop, let's leave the SS state with their oil, without that Nigeria will remain where we are. |
