***SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL GREAT IFE PCMs WHO ARE YET TO SEE THEIR NAMES***

I can now authoritatively tell you that more lists will be added in the coming days. There are several names yet to be printed and pasted on the SA Notice board. If you've not seen your name, stay calm. What I cannot ascertain is whether all 2015 graduates would be following. Regardless, some 2015 graduates will be seeing their names before Friday. Stay calm and stay alert.

The article seems loose. Seems like a soliloquy than an opinion piece. However, let me correct an error in the article;
After abusing President Buhari, after accusing him of being a Boko Haram sponsor, after denying him of votes from the South East and South South...
The Ohaneze is NOT recognized and does not influence a thing in the SS. The SS voted Jonathan because he's a son, not because the Ohaneze influenced jack. There's no such thing as "Ohaneze" in the SS.

Nice! But, there's a part of Concord that you didn't talk about-Notional Concord. In notional concord, which is very predominantly used in British English, the idea of plurality is embedded in a word, even if the word appears singular. For instance, government, team etc.If you notice, during English Premiership matches, you hear commentators say things like:'Arsenal are a delight to watch...Or, 'Chelsea are desperately defending...' The idea of plurality is hidden in words like Arsenal and Chelsea. These commentators, it has to be stated, are professional speakers.
Wrong! Notional concord is not restricted to Britain or any other English speaking country.

Notional concord is flexible to be termed singular/plural pending on which ever suits you. While this is very much debatable, the concept of notional concord, same as other types of concord, has its exceptions.

There are over twelve types of concord in advanced grammar.

It's very much possible! Some departments are faster than others. English language department, Arts faculty may not be mobilized for this batch. Reason for this is that they're very slow when it comes to their students. I'm sure of some departments under the faculty of Admin and Education are good at mobilizing their students who even graduated two weeks ago. Not to worry, you should be seeing your name (hopefully) come Thursday.

Mistake in DOB is largely the fault of students who don't visit the DSA board often. Those whose profile, DOB and gender are issue-based, are notified on the board with their full names, matriculation numbers and a directive asking them to see the DSA immediately. When PCMs don't get the info, the DSA skips them and move on to those without issues.

Good morning PCMs. I honestly don't see any reason why everyone should place more emphasis on the online list when their schools are yet to publish their pre mobilization lists. I'd recommend that calmness be exhibited. And for those whose names have been published, it is recommended you also stay calm as your schools' lists may be uploaded on the NYSC website anytime.

2el, Xcozee, Gazaliah, elmisti, et al, please continue updating the names of institutions whose graduates have affirmed to seeing their names uploaded on the NYSC senate verification portal.
A periodic update should keep newbies at rest.

Finally, to Great Ifes in here, if you've seen your name on the premobilization list at the DSA's office, congratulations. And if you've not seen yours, fret not, as I heard some departments may be added to the list before Friday. This information was relayed by a friend who contacted her Part Adviser whose department's list was not published alongside the ones at the DSA. For 2015 graduates, I doubt if they would be going with B15. Regardless, staying hopeful till Friday is recommended.

Politics › LASG Removes Fashola’s Budget Spending From Website by Sanchez01(op): 6:31am On Aug 25, 2015
The Lagos State Government has removed the list of contracts awarded under the administration of former Governor Babatunde Fashola.

The list which was published on the website of the state’s Public Procurement Agency, www.lagosppa.gov.ng, stated that Fashola’s administration spent N78.3m on his personal website, www.tundefashola.com, in 2014.

The list further stated that Fashola spent N139m on the drilling of two boreholes at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

However, checks by our correspondent on Monday showed that the section which lists all the contracts awarded under Fashola’s administration between 2013 and 2014 could no longer be accessed.

The website of the PPA was inaugurated by Fashola on July 15, 2013.

According to Fashola, the website is aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, accountability and value for money in the area of public procurement and asset disposal through the enactment of the Public Procurement Law, 2011, and the establishment of the requisite agency.

He had stated during the inauguration of the website that the details of contracts awarded by the government would be published periodically on the website.

Reacting to the development, the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders said secrecy was one of the trademarks of the state government.

CACOL’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Debo Adeniran, said that was why the state government failed to implement the Freedom of Information Act.

He said, “The development gives credence to the belief that the state government’s activities are shrouded in secrecy. They believe that the government is a cult and only the initiates should have information.

“It is for this reason that the Freedom of Information Act has been frustrated by state governments, especially Lagos. Such websites are only accessible when the state government’s have some interests to serve.”

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Mr. Habib Aruna, said he was not aware that the details of the executed contracts under Fashola had been removed from the website.

He, however, promised to investigate the matter.

Calls made to Fashola’s spokesperson, Hakeem Bello, rang out. He had also yet to respond to a text message sent to his telephone.

Politics › Godfathers Are Not True Leaders, Says Dogara by Sanchez01(op): 7:24am On Aug 24, 2015
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has condemned the influence of godfathers in Nigerian politics, noting that godfathers are not true leaders.

The Speaker said ‘godfatherism’ was hindering the delivery of good governance in the country.

He said after corruption, the next issue that Nigerians must confront in order to enjoy the dividends of democracy was to end ‘godfather politics’ which he said was another form of corruption.

The Speaker, who represents Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa-Balewa federal constituency of Bauchi State, said this on his official Twitter handle.

In the series of tweets, Dogara, however, did not mention any particular godfather.

He said while true leaders raise competent leaders, godfathers only focus their attention on raising sycophants.

“Are godfathers true leaders? True leaders raise leaders while godfathers busy themselves in raising sycophants,” he said.

It will be recalled that Dogara defied the directive of his party to emerge as the leader of the lower legislative chamber on June 9.

The All Progressives Congress, led by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had favoured Femi Gbajabiamila, who is presently the Majority Leader of the lower legislative chamber, to be the Speaker.

Dogara, however, defeated Gbajabiamila in an election held in the House on June 9.

The Speaker said, “After killing corruption, the next thing to kill is ‘godfatherism.’ In fact it (godfatherism) is corruption in another form. So let’s kill both.

“With godfathers always breathing on the necks of their godsons who hold public offices, we can’t kill corruption and make progress. Why should the success or rising profile of a godson turn into the godfather’s insecurity? Why do godfathers always want to have followers who do not and must not have a sense of self-worth?

“Why does certain godfathers’ security rest on the insecurity of those they claim to have helped to power? Thank God for the social media but how many of us can stand up to what we hold dear, especially when our godfathers say no. Where is the place of character in our leadership recruitment process? Why are we no longer convicts of our own conviction?

“Why should the success or rising profile of a godson turn into the godfather’s insecurity? Why do we abandon our convictions at the caprices of a godfather without demonstrable evidence that we are wrong?”

The plot to probe only the GEJ admin is just an event to further divide the already divided south.
Still the same. And at the bolded, it's still quite funny because it's just as taking Panadol on someone else's headache. The Ijaws and the South South at large know GEJ mis-represented, yet the Igbos are saying otherwise. Last I checked, the Ijaws are unfazed about this. Perhaps you remember PEJ's infamous "I don't want to serve my husband food in prison." See, if Jonathan is guilty as assumed, I see no reason why he should not be probed/tried. Or maybe we should start believing that the likes of you are screaming because of NOI and AMD and not just because of a South Southerner.

zuchyblink:
Nobody is defending anybody, all we are saying is that if you want to probe, probe everybody and don't select people to probe.
As simple as that
Honestly, you cannot expect Buhari to probe every living past leader Nigeria has ever had because it is not done that way. Ideally, PMB's probe quest should be restricted to GEJ for certain reasons;

1. Late Umar Musa Yar'Adua was supposed to probe OBJ's tenure since he was the latter's predecessor but since he passed on and could not achieve that feat, the onus rested on GEJ to do so while completing Yar'Adua's tenure.

2. GEJ again, had the opportunity to do so upon his 'proper' first term. It wouldn't have been impossible to probe Yar'adua's tenure because he was the Vice Present then. Moreso, the person to be probed is no more. He ought to have shifted his attention to OBJ's tenure but he obviously had no balls to do so.

3. And since GEJ is Buhari's predecessor, it is only proper that Buhari focuses on him. If others had been doing their work, you would not be here saying Buhari should probe the dead and the living.

Annoyingly, OBJ, Yar'adua, and GEJ are from the PDP, hence the lack of balls to take on themselves. Buhari has no blame if he faces the one who had just vacated the office.
Politics › Corruption: APC Knocks Igbo Leaders For Defending Jonathan by Sanchez01(op): 6:22am On Aug 24, 2015
The South-East chapter of the All Progressives Congress says Igbo leaders who are opposing the probe of former President Goodluck Jonathan are desecrating the Igbo tradition.

It said the Igbo leaders who are supporting the former President are in breach of the traditional admonition which forbids Igbo from identifying with thieves or alleged thieves.

Several Igbo leaders, including the Chairman of the Igbo Leaders of Thought, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, and the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Joe Nwaorgu, had in recent times opposed President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to restrict the planned probe to Jonathan’s administration.

They insisted that Jonathan’s government should not be probed unless other previous administrations were included.

However, reacting to the development on Sunday, the South-East APC, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, told the Igbo leaders to stop desecrating Igbo tradition by supporting Jonathan.

In the statement titled, ‘Stop desecration of Igbo tradition’, Okechukwu wondered why Jonathan’s defence was being championed by Igbo leaders, rather than the ex-President’s Ijaw kinsmen.

The statement read, “The South-East zonal chapter of the APC calls on Igbo leaders, in the name of defending our dear ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, to stop the desecration of the long standing Igbo tradition and by extension, our revered ancestors.

“Our worry is that the timeless Igbo tradition which admonishes us not to steal, and not to defend or associate with rogues or even alleged rogues is being flagrantly breached by prominent Igbo sons, crying more than Ijaw sons and daughters.

“We have yet to find any sentence where any of them, even our revered icon, erudite and constitutional lawyer, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, in any form denied the mindless, pervasive and unbridled corruption which pervaded ex-President Jonathan’s regime.”

Okechukwu equally condemned Nwaorgu’s advice that Buhari should extend the probe to the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The South-East APC spokesman accused Nwaorgu of deliberately blocking a planned meeting between Buhari and Ohanaeze Ndigbo before the elections.

According to Okechukwu, Buhari conveyed his request for the meeting, where he intended to “chart the way forward with Ndigbo”, in a letter forwarded to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo secretariat in November 2014.

The statement added, “May we appeal to Chief Joe Nwaorgu and his cohorts, if actually the interest of Ndigbo is what they are fighting for, to climb down from their high horses and stop the hate narratives and embrace the true position that Ndigbo stands to gain more from President Buhari’s regime, if ever we gained from our massive support to former President Jonathan.”

The South-East APC argued that “Ndigbo like all hardworking groups in the country” stand to gain more from Buhari’s administration than Jonathan’s, which it accused of dispensing patronage to cronies.

The party added that the Igbo were more likely to realise their wish to have one of their own as President of the country through Buhari.

According to Okechukwu “The Igbo ethnic merchants and gossip-terrorists who bandy all manners of conspiracy hate theories against President Buhari must come to terms that an eight-year tenure of the man of uncommon integrity is the surest route to the actualisation of President of Igbo extraction, given the zoning convention.”
