What is wole wole? Are we moving forward or backwards? We have passed that era please.

do you really understand what wole wole means in yoruba? In case you don't know it means environment inspectors. Every sane country have sanitary officer to enforce environment sanitation. they have it in the US, they have in UK, they have it in sane climes. so what are you talking about

those countries are not looking clean without strict enforcement of environmental sanitation. always get your facts right before you criticise

yes you are spot on with the enforcement.
But then they wont sustain it. And everything would crumble and streets worse than before.
In my area we do clean up during the sanitation.Infact the day after my street is usually sparkling. I save all d visitors for that sunday.lol

yeah sustaining the enforcement is a big issue

good for you..it cant work if you live where i live.. The compound is too big for one single tenant to sweep..besides nobody would quit going to work for a day just to sweep. The compound is clean most of the times.. As there are just few kids..as adults if you throw your dirts in the bin. Everywhere would stay reasonably clean.

For Nigerians that 3hrs compulsory break must stand.we havent gotten to that level of cleanlines to let everybody be. Besides its almost like a culture now.

Ambode made a bad decison and i strongly urge him to reconsider. If every adult in lagos throws his daily purewater and gala in the bin.. Our sanitation levels would record an exponential increase. People litter the roads with whatever junk they buy on the way. That is the major problem

people litter the streets with junks because there's street trading all over the place. so eat while on the road and end up leave the rubbish on the road.

those overly busy people still leave the house before environmental starts which means they are still not part of the sanitation exercise. Only a few ppl utilises the 3hrs to clean their house, majority busy themselves doing other things while it lasts.

despite the weekly market environmental sanitation, the markets stilll remain dirty. it took the closing down of the markets by the government for the markets to become cleaner again

the only effective way government can force the people to clean their environment is by strict enforcement and sections

abeg leave trash for lawma..you clean your gutters and drainages everyday? Or you sweep your compound everyday??
Even in developed countries, they dont do jack.. They have dirt trucks that sweep the streets maybe every 3 or 4 days. See this one forming sanitary prefect.

in my house , the compound is swept everyday and it's rotated among the tenants weekly, as for the gutter, whoever's turns to sweep the gutter also ensure the gutter is clean.

those that are too busy to do this themselves pays sweepers to do it for them. besides this things are in your agreement paper for anybody wanting to rent an appartment in the house.

as for the developed countries they don't joke with sanitation of the environment, infact you get sanctioned and fined for leaving your lawn overgrown talk more dirts littering your compound.

with strict monitoring and sanctions , we don't need to declare an holiday to have our homes cleaned

Chairman with all due respect, i believe this is the thread you are talking off: https://www.nairaland.com/1909933/post-entry-level-industrial-trainee/123

Go and look at debbie first posts, it's not for those looking to manage just 50k....

I don't know why this is even an issue, was only asking for job posts to come with salary ranges. How is that offensive? That you would manage any job doesn't mean others would. I don't condemn you for that so why are you talking off arogance smh

oga it's an issue, it's quite embarrassing. why are you people like this. are you paying Debbie and ochocho for this service? if you can't follow the thread the way you met it , I will advise you stage a walk out

nay nay nay. Ambode ( THE GOVERNOR ) goofed in this regard. what da Bleep? This is completely a wrong decision. i support the monthly environmental exercise.
Lagos is so busy that people hardly have time for cleaning if not compelled to do so. The monthly restriction of movement between 7am to 10am helps alot. PLS AMBO REVERT THE LAW IMMEDIATELY IF NOT BE READY TO WELCOME BACK A DIRTIER LAGOS.
trust me

by the time the dirty folks are slammed with heavy fines nobody will teach them to clean their environment, if you are too busy, pay people to do it for you.

This decision is so so wrong. Do the markets constitute the whole of Lagos? This monthly exercise is the only way Landlords force their tenants to clean the envinronment. Lagos is going to go back to the days of "dirty lagos". I hope the governor changes his mind.

by the time "wole wole " start locking up houses, there will no longer be need for landlords to force tenants to clean the house.

this is a right step in the right direction

keep quiet man.
Its quite a big compound and open to some parts of the streets as they come in to fetch water from the well..which we seldomly use.
Everybody cleans his own part. But the general cleaning of the whole compound...like sweeping the floor and scrubbing the walls and clearing the whole drainage pipes, as well as the well area and all is done by the whole compound on the last saturday of every month. as everybody will be around and participate accordingly. So mr man.. Keep quiet, cause my compound is cleaner than 80% of the streets in lagos.

everything you just stated is what is supposed to be done daily my brother. it's not to be left to be done once in a month.

lagos in 70's and early 80's uses "wole wole " to keep people on their toes and lagos was way cleaner then. the monthly sanitation is unnecessary if the tax force is brought back to life

besides most lagosians don't even utilise the day to clean up their environment. they spend those hours watching films, playing football and having meetings. so the scrapping of the sanitation day is long overdue

The problem with this action is that there is no type of enforcement in place that will make sure sanitation exercises are done daily as insinuated by Ambode. Not impressed with the explanation behind the policy (too simplistic), I assume there must be more behind it.

what's too simplistic? I don't think you understand the value of time. we don't place premium on time that's why the country is where it is today.

serious minded countries don't toy with time, they don't give unnecessary holidays as we do here. that's why people go to work on election days. that's why they are always moving ahead with jet speed why we are still hopping with our back side

A very foolish and useless move..of all the policies to scrap. Why not scrap agbero fee collecting from transporters.

Now nobody in my compound would agree to come out for it. Because that last saturday nobody get excuse. We are forced to clean every nook and corner of our compound and immediate surrounding. Rubbish

you guys are dirty o, so you mean you guys clean your compound only once in a month.

People like you are not supposed to b living in a city, anyway "wole wole" go visit una soon and lock that una filthy compound up since una dey expect government to force una to clean una house #smh
Politics / Re: Ambode Abolishes Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise by santori: 3:54pm On Mar 31, 2016
ambode seems to be the real deal, I see this guy surpassing fashola in all ramifications, I for one have been clamouring for the abolition of the so called sanitation days for a very long time.

For instance, Thursdays is like a total waste for the traders and other services related to their trading. proper trading commences after twelve which means about 6 hrs of the day is already wasted. the pathetic part of it is the traders even spend those hours playing football or watching film at home cos they already did the cleaning wednesday evening before closing shop

environmental sanitation is supposed to be a daily thing and not a weekly or monthly thing. I will implore the government to set up health task force to ensure all markets and streets are always clean, if sanction defaulters to serve as deterrent
