Shagari was a bad leader, and IMHO, if there was no coup, the NPN would have been voted out by landslide in 1987, assuming the opposition got its act together, and united...because Nigerians would have been tired of them. (Signs were there in 1983 already)

Not only was the massive corruption a bad thing, but Shagari then, like Buhari now, kept our country more and more dependent on oil. He failed to also anticipate and deal with the decline in most of our other sources of income (groundnut pyramids ended under his regime, tin mining went to zero , and so on), and when the oil crash happened in 1982, our economy began its slow decline.....

Shagari should not have been overthrown, (we lost a lot of things as a result of the 1966 and 83 coups) and the 1983 coup was illegal, but in the end, he was not a brilliant leader.

But all the economic indicators at the time state otherwise .... within 18 months after that coup Buharis bad leadership made thing much much worse and there began the slide of our economy to a point of no return

Nigeria is seriously under-policed and battling with very high youth unemployment. We should be looking at how to bring more personnel into the Police force and Civil defense and not thinking of scrapping one.

This is not a good bill considering the security challenges that we are facing. It should be thrown out immediately.

Lol. The problems of Lagos are the same problem any mega-populous City will encounter if population density swells uncontrollably and detrimental to deveopment.

Lagos was near moribund in 1999 when Tinubu took over. Popuation of Lagos in 1999 was officially 7 million. Let's even call it 9 million max.

As soon as Tinubu began improving the State Nigerians, in their tens of thousands, to include your fellow Igbos, began trooping in daily into Lagos from all over Nigeria. Today, the population of Lagos is more than 21 million.

The unfeasible and astronomical increase continued after Tinubu left office and till today to get us where we are.

If the optimal population of Lagos is circa 9 million, which ensure the State functions and develops optimally per popoulation to space/resources/infrastructure challenges and limitations, how objective are you not to understand Lagos will continue swimming against the tide, at 21 million and increasing, till her population reduces appreciably?

Do you think there is no elastic limit that will see population becoming the actual problem of a State or Nation? Why do you think China came up with the one child per family rule in the past?

People cannot just keep trooping into Lagos and naive folks like you expect the State to somehow continue coping and moving forward with that serious challenge.

Please go and ask a competent town planner, if you know one, about the veracity of my point or I can refer you to one of their offices to get educated.


Stop ignorantly and unintelligently asking Lagos to provide things her unfeasibly huge population will prevent from the State achieving.

Double Abuja's poluation in the next ten year and you will see it will be 50 times worse than Lagos. Ditto Anambra, Imo, Kaduna or anywhere else.

The administrators of Lagos are actually trying but unobjective people like you will never appreciate thst.

No one is telling you Ambode was useless. Tinubu does not promote mediocrities or failures in Lagos. Never.

Every Governor since Tinubu has been a mediocre if they weren't :

Lagos will have pipe borne water today

Good sufficient roads

Better town planning

Streets will be lit

Bus stops will be sanitized of gangs

Lagos will have some type of sewage treatment

All Lagos governors since 1999 have actually been mediocres ..Tinubu is only good in choosing place holders that can hold the seat for him
