Ekiti1: I understand you completely my brother. I was about using wp autopost or wp robot to gather the contents cos i want to base use wordpress for my website. I asked cos of the risk of google ban while using those applications. I dont really know java but Will try and read up tho. let me digest the hints you gave above first and I will ask questions later. By the way check your NL mail.

Yeah, using wordpress autopost etc might get you slammed by google for duplicate content but you could combine that intelligently with a little php code that will change complete sentences in your article(using synonyms) and then juggle the sentences so that the first paragraph appears as the second while the last appeared as the fourth etc. This way google might still nab you but you have reduced the chances.

From google's panda update, they also look at website structures to compare similarities.

Also that wordpress plugin you mentioned can only scrape data from wordpress blogs.

I will advice that you stay away from automated means if you want to build a solid blog with proper following. Only use this methods if you want to make quick cash as an internet marketer or to increase the pr of your other sites(i.e building linkwheels and farms)

- I cannot list all my broda, i use the tool that best suits the job. In other word, they are many and i also built a few myself if the job at hand does not require a full blown CMS or framework. the popular ones are listed in my pevious posts. BTW, i used zend framework for that "quick" site: www.freesoccernews.com in case you were wondering.

I know you know some of them. I have already listed the technologies i employed to acheive that. all you have to do is raed up and practice.
I will be more than willing to answer questions as you progress and i must warn that depending on your current level it might be tough at first.

Nutch is a web crawler similar to google bot that u can customise it. it is part of the apache project so it has a very solid backing

-Download hbase- http://hbase.apache.org/
This is modeled after google's BigTable. This is where you store your scraped data.

Most importantly, YOU MUST KNOW JAVA. if you dont know java then goto sun's (i mean oracle's) website to start.

@anicho : you don't any tutorial to craete a facebook fans page just scroll down to the end of your wall and create ur page.

HURRAY my page now has 3700± fans now from 3000 yestaday. I should clock 4000± today.

ebook means electronic book. It is just a book you can read on your laptop. Most of them come in pdf others in chm or even html.

Though ebooks are not free DON'T pay a dime for them. As I said earlier, I have thousands of them. Just tell me the programming language and I will give you books on it. FREE.

If you check my page name again.i.e Just Have Fun, you will observe that I just created and named it without any vision or main purpose. It is just a call for everyone to just have fun. I intend creating a website that will spread like a virus and simply tranfer the page fans to the websit for a start. And the members participation will help me raise fund to even market the website and buy likes for my website's real official page. Did you take a look at my site: www.freesoccernews.com, the content of that site are automatically posted on it. i did not post anything myself. I am one of the most lazy programmers in nigeria and once i write a line of code i will never write it again.

I designed a web spider using nutch(java) that crawls all the top football sites eg(goal.com, football265, givemefootball, skysport news, supersport.com, bbc.co.uk etc) in the world( they are currently about 1290 of them ). and then breaks them page by page and extracts data storing them into a hbase table.

The above action is done every 0.2 seconds using a linux cron on my server. so the website is always up to date about the latest happenings in the world of football

This data is what you see on my site.

To answer your question, i did not go thru all this hassle just to make a quick cash but to lay a foundation for something i have been working on for a year now(also built around soccer.). I am just using euro 2012 to test and see people's reactions and perceptions.

Also remember that your fans on facebook is like an email list you get to keep forever. That is a major plus.

You can target sex, Male, Female or both. that is why those options are there. They must have refused your advert based on other grounds. Can you please provide a snippet of the email. I am saying this cos i know for a FACT. I have ran campaigns targeting only women too and it works. Pls give me more details.

Peterson1993: ^^Who does'nt have the money to advertise and who does'nt know illegal advert on face book is ban prone. Wake up man. Instead on you to use your cash on something better, you spend it on likes? Horrible..!! To avoid you loosing your account and page, it is very simply to advoid. Simply create a fake fb account you will be using for illegal advert purpose. Dont use the actuall account with the admin right because you may get blocked and you loose your page in the process...Creat different accounts and transfer admin right to them in case any of your account gets problem, it will not affect your page.. Facebook dont delete fan pages for any reason. because if they do, I can easily set your page up by simply spaming ruthlessly just to get your page deleted

u are in for a shocker my friend. anyway, i just racked up 3000 fans in 2 days or so spending $28 and its absolutely hands-free.
what you failed to realize is that we both play the same game but differently. $0.01/like is fu**ing cheap to me.

if i recall, u did all that hard work in three months, i will acheive this in a month or less and also do other things too. This is what people call "putting money to work".
Since you dont want to spend money at all, you HAVE to do the manual labour. it works too, but slower and more hectic.

I dont want to bust your bubble but that technique u are using is old and i lost my very first (and genuine) facebook account cos of this. The point is you will eventually spam to the point that facebook spam triggers will be activated and then ban u (((for life))). Once your account is banned, it is near impossible to get it back trust me. All my hard went to waste.

Apart from risking your account being banned you also do the hard work of posting spam statuses all over facebook: i dont have time for that. Facebook is not the only place i an trying to build an audience.

What i do is simple:
-Facebook advert at $0.01 per click. ($200) gives me 20,000 fans which is also set and forget. this is achievable in a month or less.
-i do a cronjob on my linux server that auto post from my website to my facebook page every 20 minutes with the facebook API so that my fans are engaged.

Basically i dont do anyhting, i just watch my fans grow.
This gives me time to run after other things.

I dont disagree with your method but i just think things should be simpler, faster and more professional
if i did not have the money i would probably have executed your method.

BTW good work with your fanpage, its pretty cool.

i am using facebook to build an audience for my new website www.freesoccernews.com and i now have a dirt cheap and easy way u too can learn from.
I do not post on nairaland much (since i have not had much to post) but i feel i should share with you something i am about to achieve. We all know how expensive online advertising can be especially for small time website owners like us. Facebook ads especially are quite expensive when one considers the ROI so it is important to aim your CPC to the very minimum: $0.01

This was what i wanted from the start so i set up my advert on friday and it ran for a while. BAM!! $10 already gone just like that and i got just around 23 clicks.
I had $100 in my account and i knew that if this continued i will just have a mere 230 fans. (help me do the math if i am wrong )

Enough small talks, here is what i did:
1. i changed the photo of my ad from a well dressed young woman to a hot lady baring a little of her clea**ge . Pls guyz just a little cleavage or else facebook will not approve your ad. This move alone increased my CTR from 0.13 to 0.22 (afterall sex sells)

2. Narrow your target. If your audience is women of age 18 - 40 that lives in nigeria, speaks english, not in a relationship and like chris brown, then so be it. Dont target anyone else. Infact once the facebook traffic estimator starts to read above 5 million people that ad is probably not well targeted.
-I have also come to find out that women between the ages of 30-50 have the higehest CTR while people btw 50 and above do not even look at ur advert. avoid them.
-When targeting men (working class), run your adverts only in the evenings when they are back from work.
-Also average CPC drops by 30% at night (depending on the country you are targeting) and drops almost 50% by weekend(big players go to sleep)
-Muslim countries have the highest CTR . It seems these guyz just love to click on ads (i am still looking for what i can market to this region)

Okay, i am still researching and i will post more. Just remember that CTR is king in facebook ads. aim for a CTR of 0.2 and above and you will be fine.

I had $120 in my account and i am currently paying 0.01 per click now for my ad. if my math is right i will get around 10,000 fans b4 the money is exhausted. attached is a picture of my progress: i have a CTR of above 0.5 and my page i opened on friday now has 2015 fans
