@justwise and all: Am submitting my application on 15th. kindly confirm that the appendix 8 form submission is compulsory. Also my CAS says the following concerning documents: Qualification evidence; BSc Electrical and Electronics Engineering. English evidence; Assessed at CEFR level B2; Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Lagos. I have my University of Lagos Certificate and am thinking it should solely be enough for both the english and qualifications evidences as suggested by the CAS. Is this rigth? If not kindly advice on other documents to include. |
Congratz man. ...........how long did u wait from your application date? Aristoqrat: Hello guys. |
justwise: Congratz man..........how long did u wait from ur application date? |
owenklay: . Your CAS will be updated with the amount paid. You will need the updated CAS to apply for your Visa as an evidence of payment made. From my experience with University of Leeds, the payment should be updated on/before Monday. You r very correct bro.......I paid the money in tranches(due to xfer limit of CBN), the first tranches of £6000 pounds was confirmed jst within 24hrs as I got a mail to that effect from UoL the next day of d xfer(thumbs up to GTB and UoL). I did the last two tranches from 2 different dommy accounts yesterday and hoping it should get to d school by monday. Also did my online visa application ysternyt with an appointment date of 15th Aug. Jst pray my CAS would av bn updated b4 then. |
I have my CAS number already bros, what am putting accross is: if I can apply for visa as my sch is yet confirm my fee payment. What is left in my acc now is my maintenance money. spikes C: you can't apply without ur CAS number |
hello all, I paid my sch fees via bank transfer between yesterday and today, and my local bank has approved the payment(have also got the telex copies via mail). Am now waiting for confirmation from my school. Is it safe to submit a Visa application yet? How do I confirm or know when this payment reflects in my CAS? |
hello house, Kindly help out on this: I booked a one way fligth to London Heathrow from Lagos through Wakanow as I will be travelling some time mid September (in sha Allah). On reading the recieved booking confirmation email, a part of it says: "First travellers are required, by immigrations, to have a return flight ticket, confirmed hotel/Accommodation and a minimum $ 1000 for personal travel allowance (PTA) or business travel allowance (BTA)" The part am worried about is getting a return ticket as a first traveller. How strict is this rule? is this applicable to someone going for MSc (over 12months) or just for short term travellers? Wondering why am to buy a ticked in 2013 for a return trip of 2015. |
@justwise and all: I now have my complete tuition fee in a friends dommy acc as GTB refuse to open 1 for me and my sch also refused to debit ma Mastercard. While all my maintenance is in my personal saving acc. The idea is my friend will pay this money on my behalf to my sch. But the problem now is, I heard its not possible that one transfers more than 6000pounds a day to a foriegn acc from a Nigerian acc., how true is this? am to pay 13500pounds into ma sch's Barclays bank account. Kindly advice on how I can get this done. |
@admin: How do I connect someone from this from/thread? I don send PM tire. I dey get the guy PM too but na so so bounce my reply dey bounce. Pls help, I need contact this guy badly. |
damilolaz: @justwise my bank statement was not returned back to me when I collected my visa at vfs, but I was given visa. Do I complain or is it normalCongratz on your visa grant man! how did u pay or intend to pay your sch fee? Was it directly from ur naira acc or dommy? If from dommy, how did you source for the pounds? sent u a PM, check ur mail. |
justwise: If you friend has checked out the room then good. As for address for UKBA, you can use your school International office address, that will be accepted.place school to do the conversion That's where the problems lies bro, GTB(where I have all my fund) is saying I have to do the conversion my self and bring the pounds physically to be saved in my domm acc n later tranfers it to the sch's bank acc from there. Think its a new CBN directive that banks should not sell foreign currencies to customers again. The most annoying part is they still refused to link me to a credible placce or person where i can safely do the exchange. What I want to confirm now is if other banks are also implementating this directive. The whole process is becoming too complex. |
justwise: Don't sign contract with anybody if you haven't seen the room, forget about pictures they showed you, the reality is miles away. Wait until you get to the UK, view the room then sign. My opinion thoughAppreciate your advice bro, will sure give it a second thought, a friend in Leeds already checked it for me though. Going by you advice, dont I need to show a UK address to UKBA? Bros abeg let me ask u this: been having issues with paying ma tuition as my sch doesn't give in to using a Nigerian Mastercard. I need to stuff ma dommy acc with sterling to pay d fee but naija banks av stop selling. I have approach like 2 Aboki( in Warri n Lag) but the least price I got is #252/£, do u see this as a gud deal? Can u suggest another way of getting d fee paid? |
damilolaz: Oh Minee is Digital Communications Networks, we will definitely share some modulesI see! Trust u be effico. What r u doing on accommodation? How do you see Carr Mills? Am about signing a contract with them. Need your advice please. |
damilolaz: Who is going to the University of leeds?I am Sir, Communications and signal processing (elect/elect) September 2013 |
@justwise and other experienced people; na confusion I dey here o. After opening a GTB dommy acc as adviced to pay my University of Leeds tuition fee, the Bank still refused to help convert my cash to pounds sterling o. Instead they gave me black market Aboki number ni. Wondering how safe and cost effective it could be to get pounds from black market. The Aboki I called said his rate is 256Naira. Could this be a good deal? Any better way of doing the payment? Am running out of time o! |
Really appreciate dis info bro particularly d glad tiding ( that I migth not find it too tough to get a job). So I can do contract jobs from the end of my course till the expiration of my visa? Is there a possibility of getting a telecoms partime job during my course? cipslim: Leeds University is a good school and the city is a nice place and you will be fine. I don't think it will be difficult for you to get a job from your experience in Telecomms...Honestly i have never work in a Telecomms company... even though i have a masters in telecomms engineering.. I have work with more banks and other industries mainly in ICT Department, It might be due to my lack of work experiences in the field.Really appreciate dis info bro particularly d glad tiding ( that I migth not find it too tough to get a job). So I can do contract jobs from the end of my course till the expiration of my visa? Is there a possibility of getting a telecoms partime job during my course? |
worry 359: Might not be such a clever move!Guy thanks for this insightful hint. I can't withstand a racist gang attack o. Can u please recommend another close by accommodation as am yet to sign Carr Mill's agreement? Am a self sponsored student, leaning solely on my years of personal savings, I cant afford £100pw sch accommodation bro. Will appreciate all advice from u. |
owenklay: Hi all... I'm resuming at University of Leeds in September 2013 for my postgraduate studies - please do you suggest campus residence accommodation or off campus and WHY? Kindly advice. Please is there anyone going to University of Leeds for academic session to start including September bill plus internet ld like us to talk, kindly reach me. ThanksGot an offer to study Communications and signal processing with them too. Am at the point of making ma visa app. Cheapest sch accommodation is £92 per week. I have arranged an excellent off campus accommodation for my self with Carr Mills (just 10mins walk distance from sch) @ £69 per week including bills plus Internet. sch accommodation is a rip off man! |
@cipsli; see my loads of questions above oh! Am counting on u man |
hello all, I must commend d efforts of every contributor to this thread. Its indeed a great service to humanity. @justwice n other great minds: I got an offer @ University of Leeds and will possibly move in September. Kindly gist me on the school's reputation. I am currently arranging accommodation with Carr Mills, hope to talk to a forumee who has info abt their apartment. MOST IMPOTANTLY I AM IN DILEMA NOW AS I HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE ON THE BEST WAY TO PAY MY TUITION FEE WHICH I ALREADY HAVE IN MY GTB ACC. I was considering a friend's suggestion that I should pay the fortune into d sch's Barclays account on arrival using my master card to withdraw d money from my GTB acc until I confirm on this thread that this is not feasible considering a max ATM withdrawal of £600 a day( and am to pay £16500). Somebody mention using CBN within the thread but the question is how do I go abt doing that when my money is in another bank? GTB suggested I open a dommy acc for them to make d payment for me but am not comfortable with that as I dont know the exchange rate they would use. PLS ADVISE! @ cipslim and other tech gurus: am glad to kno u studied Telecomms Engineering, am also pursuing Telecommunications and Signal processing @ MSc level @University of Leeds. I have over 3years telecoms in Nigeria here ( with Starcomms, Nera MW and currently Huawei Technologies as a TX Engineer), also bagged a couple of ICT certifications along the line. Though I dont issues with comming back to Naija after ma MSC as getting my self back into the telecoms sector should be my least problem (plus Huawei would readily take me back, but what's my professional job prospects in the UK? putting in mind that my company( Huawei) is fast growing in Europe and particularly in the UK( in fact they have a massive head quater in Readings now ). I am also considering relocating to the gulf region after my MSc if I get a good offer there........how do I get agents in the UK to help me on this regard? Finally a senior colleague warned that I should think outside Telecommunications for MSc as the field is too narrow, he suggested instrumentation n control(because of oil n gas)which sounds weird to me as I have next to zero hands on experience in the area( I also heard one's hands experience must tally with his/her MSc to get a professional job in the UK). Whats your take on this........do u have any regret studyind Telecoms? |
am still comtemplating on if i should go or not, cos going will cost me missing a scheduled lunch with my company's new MD @1pm 2day |
