PoliticsFACT-CHECK: Did Peter Obi As Anambra Governor Order Deportation Of Northerners? by SATANICALLY666(op): 6:03pm On Jul 14, 2022
Conclusion:

The Anambra State Government enacted a policy that did not favor beggers in general as is the case with even some Northern States who have done same. It is therefore not an identity profiling.

Claim: The Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, is in the eye of the storm with several allegations of bigotry, hatred and maltreatment of northerners levelled against him. He was said to have committed all these while he held sway as the governor of Anambra state.

Full Text: In a widely circulated article titled “The insolence of Peter Obi against the North and Northerners part (1): A personal experience or a community’s travails in the hand of a Tribal bigot,” the writer, AG Mahmoud, claimed that Obi ordered the deportation of Northerners of different religions to their respective states.

Mahmoud wrote: “It should also be noted that Peter Obi equally deported people of Northern extraction to Kaduna during his tenure as governor of Anambra state.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are a Christian of Middle Belt origin. Once you are a Northerner as far as Peter Obi was concerned, you are simply unfit to stay anywhere in Anambra state in his days as Governor.”

Verification

In its attempt to confirm the validity of the deportation claims, PRNigeria conducted a fact-check on deportation that took place during the period when Obi was the Governor of Anambra State.

PRNigeria findings indicated that the Anambra state government ordered the arrests of beggars in the state and their repatriation to their respective states, mostly in the South.

The findings showed that the Obi government actually arrested beggars on the streets of Awka and Onitsha and swiftly repatriated them to their home states of Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom.

PRNigeria could not trace any credible media report during the tenure of Obi as Governor of Anambra where Northerners were repatriated or deported to any part of the North.

A report in the Leadership and Champion Newspapers on December 4 and 5 2011 merely stated that the Anambra state government issued a warning to all street beggars, especially children used by their parents to beg for alms, to vacate the streets or be arrested. 29 of such women who displayed their children as strategy for getting alms were arrested in Awka and Onitsha, and repatriated to their home states; Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom states.

The then Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Ego Cordelia Uzoezie, decried the attitude of some parents who used their children to beg for alms, and warned that any beggar seen in the state would be arrested and deported by law enforcement agents.

Conclusion:

The Anambra State Government enacted a policy that did not favor beggers in general as is the case with even some Northern States who have done same. It is therefore not an identity profiling.

PoliticsDrug Lord: Tinubu's Supporters Labour In Vain To Defend Him by SATANICALLY666(op):
"Bobo Chicago" trends as Nigerians share funny and satirical memes to mock Tinubu. An unfortunate day for his supporters who have been labouring in vain to defend him. cheesy

On Twitter, it's like a battle of 30 BATians vs the World. What can they do? grin They've all deserted him, making BAT the most unpopular man on the bluebird app.

On Nairaland, the story is pretty much the same. His popularity keeps decreasing. Apart from few anti-Tinubu's threads getting locked and deleted here and there, there's nothing going for the Jagaban. To add insult to injury, Seun, some weeks ago, blocked his praise-singing spambots, causing BAT to lose over 1000 supporters, and leaving him with only 10. cheesy grin cheesy

PoliticsPortable: I was Once Paid To Insult Tinubu, Now I Was Paid To Praise Him by SATANICALLY666(op): 10:53pm On Jul 13, 2022
Street-pop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has revealed that he was paid to endorse the All Progressive Congress’ presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Portable had come under fire on social media after declaring support for APC in the upcoming Osun State governorship election on his Instagram page.

In the video posted on Wednesday, he also asked Nigerians to vote for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Portable, however, fired back at his critics, saying he was only doing his job, as the ruling party had paid him to support its candidates.

In a new video posted on Wednesday, the Zazuu crooner who said he was once paid to insult Tinubu, revealed that he has changed his tune because he was paid by the APC.

“If they pay you money, you have to work. I was once paid to insult Tinubu during the protests. That was a long time ago. Now, APC has said Akoi Tinubu.

“If they pay you, do your job, no ripping. When I was asked to insult Tinubu, I collected my money and did my job. Now Tinubu is the next. They’re the ones that gave me money, and I must do the work for the money I collected. Akoi APC,” he said in Yoruba.

Politics2023: Yoruba Nation Agitators Constitute Committee To Campaign For Tinubu by SATANICALLY666(op):
The global leader of the Ilana Omo Oodua, the apex body for Yoruba Nation Agitation, Prof Banji Akintoye, has allegedly constituted a team to lobby Yoruba professionals and elites to back the 2023 aspiration of former Lagos State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The agenda is being funded by a South-West APC Governor, multiple sources told SaharaReporters.

The Committee, tagged Elite Mobilisation Initiative (EMI), is headed by an Ado-Ekiti based popular Medical Doctor, Adebayo Orire.

Orire, a Chieftain of the APC and former Governorship Aspirant, is the current Chairman of Ekiti-State Chapter of Tinubu Support Group (TSG) and a close associate of Tinubu.

Inaugurating the EMI team few days ago in Cotonou, Republic of Benin where he is based, Akintoye charged Orire to ensure that all professional elites in Yoruba Land were brought into the self-determination struggle.

However, a source close to the development told SaharaReporters that the real agenda of EMI was to mobilise the Yoruba old and professional elites to counter Afenifere who already sided with Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party.

The source also revealed that Akintoye never consulted anyone in the leadership of Ilana Omo Oodua before taking the decision to appoint Orire and inaugurate EMI in Cotonou because he knew the agenda was going to be dead on arrival.

“Sensing that he was on his own and members of Ilana Omo Oodua would never buy into the idea of endorsing Tinubu for President, Akintoye has now told some people that EMI is not an initiative of Ilana Omo Oodua but that of a Diaspora Group known as YSM,” the source told SaharaReporters.

“Akintoye, a Senator in Nigeria’s Second Republic under the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), is the Chairman of Advisory Council of the group.

“The real agenda of EMI is to ensure that Tinubu wins 2023 Presidential election with a wide margin in Yoruba land. It is just to counter Afenifere who has endorsed Peter Obi for President. The agenda of EMI is to be funded by a South West Governor who is like a son to Akintoye.

“EMI is just to be masquerading as a self-determination lobby group but when the time comes, the group will start canvassing for a Plan B, stressing why the political space should not be left alone and why a Yoruba Man as Nigerian President would help the Yoruba people to negotiate their way out of Nigeria which is a Scam and gimmick.

“Every Intelligent person watching the body movement and utterances of Akintoye would know that he was recruited to force the Fulani Elites to concede the APC Presidential Ticket to Yoruba Land, an assignment which he has delivered. The Fulani can never allow Yoruba people leave Nigeria because of their business interests.

“The next agenda now is to ensure that Tinubu triumphs next year and Bayo Orire, a strong ally of Tinubu and a respected figure among the home-grown old professionals was drafted in. Orire is from Ekiti State like Akintoye.

“Akintoye took the decision unilaterally without consulting anyone because he knew he would never have his ways. Akintoye had this mind-set that the Yoruba Nation Agitation is built-around his personality without knowing that the struggle has outgrown him”, the source said.

When contacted, the Communications Secretary of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Maxwell Adeleye, did not respond to calls and messages sent to his phone has not been replied as at the time of filing this report.

PoliticsWe Can No Longer Campaign For Tinubu - Northern APC Christians by SATANICALLY666(op): 5:42pm On Jul 12, 2022
CHRISTIANS of Northern extraction in the All Progressive Congress (APC) have said they can no longer campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, because of his choice of a Muslim running mate.

They made this position known in a communiqué issued to journalists, on Tuesday, following an emergency meeting of the group in Abuja where the issue of the religious colouration of the APC’s presidential ticket and its implication for the nation was on the front burner.

According to the communiqué jointly signed by Prof. Doknan Sheni (Chairman) and
General Ishaya Bauka (Secretary), the group explained that Tinubu’s selection of a Muslim running mate had exasperated the Christians in the North, and portrayed the APC as a party that is insensitive to their yearnings.

It warned that if the selection of Senator Kashim Shettima as the party’s vice presidential resident candidate is not reversed before July 15, there would be serious and grave consequences.

The communiqué read, “The christian politicians in the nineteen (19) Northern States within APC met in Abuja to deliberate on the issue of the party’s Muslim – Muslim president and vice president candidates and the implications for the nation.

“The meeting decided as follows: that as Christians within APC, we cannot in all fairness to our consciences and our faith go to our various constituencies to campaign for a Muslim – Muslim ticket.

“Nigeria is a multi religious and a constitutional democracy and NOT a theocracy. The current political atmosphere of the nation is different from what occurred in 1993 and therefore a Moslem-Moslem ticket is unacceptable.

“The selection of a Moslem vice presidential candidate portrayed insensitivity to the Christians in the Nation

“The fear of the Christians in the north and the nation in general is that the APC party will be viewed as an Islamic party, and that the Muslim – Muslim ticket was not possible in 2015, why should it be possible in 2023?

“More so, that we are apprehensive that the person picked might have had a hand in the Chibok girls’ saga and other terror activities.

“Muslim – Muslim ticket would undermine the election chances of Christians candidates in APC in the various states in the North.

“The Christians in the north and the whole nation are highly aggravated, considering that the chairman of the party is a Muslim, deputy chairman (North) is a Muslim, the president of the Senate is a Muslim, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives are Muslims, and now both the presidential and vice presidential candidates are Muslims.

“Apart from this violating the constitution section 14 subsection 3, if this was to be reversed that all these were Christians, can any Muslim in the North be able to sell the APC presidential tickets to any Muslim Ummah?

“If this selection of a Muslim Vice President candidate is not changed, there will be serious and grave consequences.

“At this moment of national peril, what should be paramount in Nigeria is unity and not infrastructure or economy. For without unity we cannot build.

“Any party or candidate that elevates the greed of a few above the needs of the many has no business running the affairs of Nigeria.”

PoliticsNorthern Governors Angry Over Shettima's Selection As Tinubu's Running Mate by SATANICALLY666(op): 11:42am On Jul 12, 2022
The All Progressives Congress governors on Monday at a meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), expressed reservation over the manner the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, handled the selection of his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

The PUNCH gathered that it took the intervention of the President to pacify the governors and rally them to support the Tinubu-Shettima ticket when they visited his Daura home.

Sources at the private meeting between the President and the nine APC governors said although the APC candidate reserved the right to pick his running mate, they had not concluded their discussions with Tinubu before he went ahead to announce Shettima.

The PUNCH had on Monday reported that the North-West governors preferred the Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu; or his Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; because of the voting strength of the zone.

It was learnt the governors were angry when they heard that Tinubu had picked Shettima. Tinubu had earlier revealed on Sunday that he hadn’t even informed Shettima of his decision to pick him as his running mate.

“At the meeting the governors expressed their anger over Tinubu’s decision to pick Shettima. It was as if he didn’t even care about the opinion of the governors even though he will rely on them for mobilisation. Buhari, however, pleaded with them to accept Shettima since he is a loyal party member,” said an aide to one of the governors.

A source close to a North-West governor said the governors were all surprised by Tinubu’s announcement.

“We all watched the announcement on television just like every other Nigerian. Tinubu did not discuss this with anyone. He even admitted that he had not informed Shettima of his decision to pick him as running mate. This was not proper at all and the governors made this known,” he said.

An associate of Tinubu also told The PUNCH that Tinubu was not supposed to have made the announcement in that manner.

“What happened was just like Tinubu’s announcement at the Presidential Villa in January when he told the media about his intention to contest. Sometimes, he makes these announcements in the spur of the moment. Many of us were shocked,” he added.

GOVERNORS REACT.

Confirming the governors’ surprise at Tinubu’s announcement, the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Abubakar Bagudu, told journalists at the end of the meeting that they were surprised by the choice of Shettima as the APC vice-presidential candidate.

He said, “We were pleasantly surprised when Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu announced in Daura on Sunday that Senator Kashim Shettima was the vice-presidential candidate. We were happy that it was no less a person than Senator Shettima who was announced the vice-presidential candidate.

“No doubt, Senator Shettima would complement the good qualities of Asiwaju Tinubu. We are very happy with the choice. The two will complement each other and will surely consolidate on the achievements of the President in the past seven years.”

Bagudu added that their visit to Daura was to felicitate the President over the Sallah celebration.

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong also said that while the choice of vice-presidential candidate was the prerogative of the Presidential candidate, all the APC governors would work to ensure the party’s victory at the 2023 general elections.

He declared, “A Presidential candidate has the prerogative of picking his deputy, but ours is to ensure the party’s victory in the presidential election.”

But the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, said Shettima’s choice was a collective decision by all the progressives governors, adding that all the governors would work hard to ensure victory for the APC in the 2023 elections.

He said, “The choice of Senator Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate is a collective decision. We shall work hard to ensure victory in all our states.”

Other governors at the meeting were: Aminu Masari(Katsina); Abdullahi Ganduje(Kano); Abubakar Bello(Niger); Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa); Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Simon Lalong(Plateau) and Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna).
