Earlier today, I received Hon. Yakubu Yusuf Soja who has decamped from the ruling APC to the fold of true democrats. He came to express his support and allegiance to the PDP and also fix a date for the official decamping ceremony for him alongside his 5000+ supporters.
APC national chairman Abdullahi Adamu has urged party members to close ranks and work as a team to ensure victory in the 2023 general elections. He warned that he would not accept blame for electoral failure.
Mr Adamu made the call while speaking with journalists after inaugurating an eight-member Abia Reconciliation Committee.
“We have to do some work and forget some of the prejudices and stand together. We don’t want anybody to come here after the elections and start crying and laying blame on us for our failures. I will not listen to that. This is the time to unite. This is the time to work for unity. If we do, God will be with us,” said the APC chair.
He said comprehensive meetings were held between the party’s leaders in Abia before inaugurating the committee.
Mr Adamu added that they were involved in negotiations and its National Working Committee (NWC), especially during its primaries and after, expressing optimism that the committee would ensure peace in the Abia chapter of the APC.
“We are not going to hold reconciliation meetings again. We will now leave it to the leaders of the party in Abia to play their politics in the state. Abuja is not about Abia. Go to Abia and play politics there, do the necessary, lobby and reconciliation there because all politics is local,” he advised the party faithful.
Mr Adamu, however, added that the party would not be satisfied with just 25 per cent of votes cast at the general elections.
“All the national elections, house of representatives, senate, governorship, likely the presidential election, we will not be satisfied with just the 25 per cent of votes cast. No halfway about it. If we are to win, we must try to win every state,” Mr Adamu asserted.

A former member of the House of Representatives and steering committee member of the Tinubu Support Group in Borno State, Hon Abdu Musa Msheliza, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to work for the party candidates including the Borno South Senatorial District flagbearer, Hon Kudla Satumari Haske.
Msheliza, who is also a two-term member of the Borno State House of Assembly representing Hawul State Constituency and later represented Askira Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, until leaving the APC, was a member of the steering committee of Tinubu Support Group (TSG) heading Borno South.
Msheliza who was an aspirant for the House of Representatives, Askira Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in the just concluded APC primaries, where he was not allowed to partake in the primaries is an astute grassroots politician with a track record of citizen engagement in representation. The politician has already obtained his membership card of the PDP.
“I am a lover of justice, fairness, equity and consultative decision-making processes in every leadership selection process, and the people should take center stage in deciding who they elect as their leaders, and not somebody or some people sitting somewhere picking and appointing who is presented as candidates in a democratic Nigeria of 21st century,” Msheliza said while giving reasons for leaving the APC.
“As such, I hate the politics of suppression, and subjugation, where democrats cannot be allowed to test their popularity freely and openly,” he said.

To checkmate the growing popularity of Peter Obi on Nairaland, some supporters of a self-styled 'national leader' of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have concluded plans to smuggle in spambots.
According to my source, the desperate supporters are not happy about the declining voices loyal to the Jagaban, hence, their resolve to use bots to spam threads that has Tinubu as a keyword to create a false impression that their leader still has followers.
This is not the first time bots have been programmed to spam threads with praise songs for Tinubu. Some weeks ago, Seun, the founder of Nairaland, confirmed their presence and blocked them.

Lawan Mommodu Kori, a former member of the National Assembly that represented Nangere, Potiskum federal constituency between 2007 to 2011 has announced his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) expressing confidence that Atiku Abubakar will win the forthcoming elections come 2023.
Kori disclosed this on Sunday during an interview with Daily Independent in Potiskum town of Yobe State.
According to him “I have decided to dump the ruling APC and join PDP because in the past I belong to PDP family who gave me their mandate to represent them at the National Assembly between 2007 to 2011, I ever remain grateful for that. I left them to APC after sometimes I felt I should return to my actual beloved party, the PDP”.

Hundreds of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ardent loyalist on Saturday threatened to dump the president and APC over what they described as wanton political neglect and very poor governance.
The loyalist who gathered in Birnin Kebbi under the leadership of the state chairman, Buhari support organisation, Alhaji Musa Abubakar Dan malikin Argungu said that the motive behind the gathering was to consult with members drawn from the 21 local governments in Kebbi state to arrive at a decision to stay or quit APC.

The battle for the soul of Cross River state has continued to gather momentum as about 5, 000 All Progressives Congress (APC) members have defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Northern senatorial District.
Vanguard learned that the defectors include, former APC wards and chapter officers, women leaders, leaders of Hausa community in Ogoja, Yala, Bekwarra, Obanliku and Obudu as well as LP candidates in the last Ogoja/Yala federal Constituency and aspirants in the last congresses.
Receiving the defectors at TTC field Igoli-Ogoja on Saturday, the Vice Chairman of PDP Northern Senatorial district, Chief Austine Edibe, lauded them for their courage to join the party at this nick of time.
He enjoined them to go back to their respective wards and work for the success of PDP in 2023, adding that the wards that deliver highest votes would be re-warded with more dividends of democracy.
Also welcoming the defectors, Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, advised them to be loyal to party leadership at their various wards and be steadfast, assuring them of more empowerment programmes to accommodate them.
Jarigbe said: “This is the time for the defectors to tie their belts and reject any form of inducements in readiness for the battle ahead.”
Earlier, the former Deputy Governor, Efiok Cobham, said the defectors should join the “operation vote APC out” and called on them to get their PVCs ready to bring back PDP.
Some of the defectors expressed their readiness to work for PDP, saying “we are back to our root.”
One of the defectors and a former chapter treasurer of APC Obudu, Agim Joseph Agim, said they came back to PDP because of the love for Sen Jarigbe and to be part of the success story ahead of 2023.
On his part, Ushie James Odey, former APC secretary Ukpah ward in Bekwarra, said: “We have worked for APC for seven years and I got nothing neither was I empowered. So, I decided to defect to PDP where I can be given human treatment.”
For John Brown Ugbada from Yala, he said: “I came over with about 300 APC members. We are returning to PDP to enable us to work for PDP and reposition Yala local government area.”
For Dominic Ebi, a former LP candidate for the last Yala/Ogoja federal constituency by-election, he said: “I have returned to PDP because it is a family that has a reward system.”
Ahead of the 2023 main elections in Nigeria, hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government Areas of Abia State, have defected to the Accord Party (AP).
They also pledged total support towards ensuring that the Accord Party form the next government in Abia State come 2023.
The defectors from the two local government areas were led into the fold of Accord Party by Chief Chibuzor Imo and Mrs Nwanyiom David, respectively.
Speaking during an event held in Ukwa Local Government Area of Abia, on Friday, the leader of the PDP defectors, Chief Chibuzor Imo, hinged their move on the worsening condition of affairs in the State and lack of people-oriented policy by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State.
According to him, “it is not hidden that the ruling PDP in Abia State has failed in all indices to improve the welfare of the populaces in the State. It’s indisputable fact that the citizens are facing hardship, hunger, poverty, penury, and these are as a result of lack of well-defined and development-oriented templates by the PDP-led administration in enhancing the poor standard of living and affairs in Abia.
“We join Accord Party at this remarkable electioneering period, as the only alternative that can foster and provide the needed dividends of democracy to every doorsteps of the Abia masses, and we are saying come 2023, we will work harder and collectively to effect a change in the number one political leadership of Abia, and join other like-minds to vote in an effective and responsive government for the general good of Abia people and the State”.
On her part, Mrs Nwanyiom David, lamented the height of insecurity and joblessness in the State and the country at large, assuring the State leadership of the Accord Party that all members and women within and outside Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government areas in Abia would fight for freedom.
Stakeholders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, on Tuesday, set up a high-powered committee to reconcile aggrieved party members and halt the gale of defection in Kaduna State.
Led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai, the team comprises the State Working Committee, chairmen of various local government areas, elected representatives, elders and members of the State Executive Council.
The development was coming five days after the APC National Vice Chairman (North-West) Malam Salihu Lukman, announced that efforts were ongoing to reconcile aggrieved party members and stop the gale of defection reported in Kaduna and Kebbi states.
Lukman disclosed that stakeholders and party leaders of the North-West-had met to review and take a decision to douse the rising tension at the zonal level.
The APC vice chair made the clarification after a meeting of the North-West APC leaders last Thursday night at Katsina Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
At least, 15 chieftains of the APC in Kaduna State have dumped the party, citing lack of internal democracy.
One of the defectors had told our correspondent that 500 additional members would join them over unresolved matters at the state party level.
Those who dumped the ruling party on Thursday included Mallam Audu Bode, Shuabu Ahmed, Habila Latu, Boniface Ubandoma, Mr. Yakubu Simon, Jashua Peter, Camio Bitrus and Patrick Paul (Pato).
Others were Samuel Wyah, Zaka Makoshi, Jonathan Fedelix, Barnabas Samuel (Barry), Shua’ibu Yusuf, Alexander Danladi (Lulu), Samuel Ibrahim.
The APC Legal Adviser in Jema’a Local Government Area, Ibrahim Samuel, in a letter addressed to his Ward Chairman, said, “His decision to dump the party was based on the internal crises of the party, lack of internal democracy and total disrespect.”
Another statement jointly signed by Barnabas Samuel and Ibrahim Samuel (Oganto) lamented that the names that emanated during the last party congress were entirely different from the ones brought to be used for the primary.
In Kebbi, hundreds of the APC members also dumped the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday in the Argungu local government area of the state.
The horde of aggrieved party supporters who defected were led by Mansur Yargyra, a former House of Representatives hopeful in the ruling APC.
According to Yargyra, he left the party over the act of injustice meted to many members of the party by certain selfish elements, who did not have the love of the party at heart.
But Lukman reiterated that a high level committee would be set up in each state to address the issue of alleged imposition of candidates and other abuse of privileges with a view to reconciling all aggrieved members.
According to him, politics is all about contest, adding that it is normal to have disagreement during negotiation among party members.
In fulfillment of his earlier promise, Lukman announced again in another statement signed by APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Musa Mailafiya Mada, on Wednesday morning that a high powered reconciliatory committee led by El-Rufai has been constituted in Kaduna.
The APC vice chair stated that the committee “will be saddled with the responsibility of reaching out to co-contestants of all the elective positions that did not win their primaries for the forthcoming 2023 general elections and other aggrieved party members in the state.”
He said that the order came up when the Zonal Leadership of the APC visited Kaduna on Tuesday on a continued fact finding tour of the North West Geopolitical Zone.
The statement read, “the National Vice Chairman of All Progressives Congress North-West, Malam Salihu Lukman, urged participants to be sincere in their contributions because to him, the worst thing people can do in time like this is lying to themselves.
“As witnessed in all the states visited by the zonal officials, numerous issues were raised and deliberated upon but post primary election reconciliation takes the center stage. As a result, stakeholders therefore, decided to setup a committee of highly respected individuals among party men and women across senatorial districts of the state to form the Reconciliatory Committee at the state’s level.
“The Local Government Reconciliatory Committees will also be constituted afterwards. Respected party members were nominated by the participants for the task and the Governor assured the meeting of his readiness to give necessary support for the success of the Committee’s assignment before campaign starts.”
Hon Jacob Orban, member representing Katsina-Ala west at the Benue State House of Assembly, has defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to Peoples Democratic party, PDP.
Orban’s defection was contained in a letter to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Titus Uba and read by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Christopher Adaji who presided during Tuesday’s plenary on 26th July, 2022.
He cited lack of internal democracy in the APC as the major factor that informed his defection, noting that the development had led to the spring up of several factions and aggrieved groups within the broom Party.
The lawmaker, who is the chairman of Benue State House of Assembly standing committee on Culture and Tourism, expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress for providing him the opportunity to contest on its platform.
Reacting, Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Christopher Adaji, on behalf of members, congratulated the Katsina Ala West representative on his defection from the broom Party to the umbrella party and assured him of equal opportunities in his new fold.
The defection of Hon Orban to the PDP has brought the total number of PDP members at the State Assembly to twenty-six.
Two-faced activist, Deji Adeyanju, has again debunked a tweet he made himself about Peter Obi offering him money.
Mr Deji had accused Obi of offering him money which he rejected. He then debunked it almost immediately by deleting the tweet. Unfortunately for him, the tweet was spotted by Sahara Reporters before it was gone. As soon as SR published it, Mr Deji popped up a disclaimer almost immediately debunking it. He also accused Sahara Reporters of reporting what he didn't say.
However, the double-tongue activist, earlier today, trashed his own disclaimer again.

The Labour Party, LP, at Gaube electoral ward on Monday, received over 200 defectors from both the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kuje Area Council, FCT.
The defectors, who handed over their APC membership cards, posters, brooms and the umbrellas of the PDP, said the move had become necessary for true democracy to thrive in the country.
Fanimi Oluwabusayo, the FCT Auditor of the Party, while receiving them assured that the party had come to deliver Nigerians from the hardship the two major parties had put Nigerians.
Mr Oluwabusayo, who is also known as Biggy, said “Labour Party is coming with full force to change the narrative of democracy in the country.
“I want to enjoin Nigerian youths to go and verify our candidate and to also come out en-mass to vote for reliable candidate come 2023.

The Chairman of Labour Party in Kuje, Oguh Hyginus said more defectors were still coming to the party before the 2023 general elections for the development of democracy in the country.

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Sunday said the ‘bishops’ who attended the recent unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may not be real bishops.
Amaechi, however, said they are Christians.
Following the event, there have been public criticisms and allegations that some persons who wore cassocks to the programme, appearing like bishops or other senior Christian clerics, were hired by the APC.
The incident caused a stir at the entrance of the venue as the crowd taunted them and shouted, "The bishops are here."
Meanwhile, the so-called bishops could not get seats at the main hall, as they were seen being ushered to the gallery which took care of the overflow.
Amaechi while speaking over the weekend at an event to mark the 60th birthday of Eugene Ogu, General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Mission in Port Harcourt, the Rivers capital, said the persons in question are Christians but many not be bishops, as portrayed.
“Those bishops you saw (at Kashim Shettima’s unveiling in Abuja], they may not be bishops, but they are Christians,” Amaechi said.
Rotimi Amaechi also said delegates, who sold their votes at the APC presidential primary election won by Bola Tinubu, were already regretting doing so.
“I don’t believe that is the solution to Nigeria’s problem — giving money. I hope you know. I give you N10 million now and when it finishes, what happens? The solution to Nigeria’s problem is that all of you must rise.
“God should save the ordinary Nigerian because they are the problem. Those who voted at the APC primary, who are they? The ordinary Nigerian. The small money they got solved their immediate problems.
“Now ‘oh we made a mistake,' ‘we didn’t make a mistake.' We are hearing different things. Pray for the leadership of the country, but also pray that ordinary Nigerians choose the right person to govern," he said.
Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation, says delegates who sold their votes at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary are regretting their actions.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers state, polled 316 votes and was second in the exercise.
Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, clinched the ticket after securing over 1,000 votes.

Thousands of the ruling All progressives congress, APC, members on Thursday dumped party to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gulma town under Argungu local government area of Kebbi State.

Receiving the defectors in Gulma, the former Senate leader, Senator Dr Yahya Abdullahi expressed joy over their defection saying their coming into the PDP fold means they are comfortable with leadership exhibited while in the ruling APC which speak for itself, he said that party belongs to everyone but since some have flexed muscles to silence others because at the moment they hold the four aces “as free Nigerians we moved to another party to continue to serve our people because that is our calling, we will strive to strengthen our democracy by peacefully effecting meaningful change through the ballot box, so i urge you all to get your PVCs as it’s the weapon needed to enshrine sustainable democracy and bring in good leaders", he said.
15 Kaduna APC chieftains, 500 Others dump party - PUNCH
Fifteen chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State have dumped the party, citing a lack of internal democracy.
One of those who decamped told our correspondent that about 500 members are joining them following unresolved matters in the State Party.
The latest party chieftains, who left the party on Thursday were: Mallam Audu Bode, Alh. Shuabu Ahmed, Hon. Habila Latu, Boniface Ubandoma, Mr. Yakubu Simon, Jashua Peter, Camio Bitrus, Patrick Paul (Pato), Mr. Samuel Wyah, Zaka Makoshi, Jonathan Fedelix, Barnabas Samuel (Barry), Shua’ibu Yusuf, Alexander Danladi (Lulu), Samuel Ibrahim.
The APC Legal Adviser in Jema’a Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Samuel, in a letter addressed to his Ward Chairman, said, “His decision to dump the party was based on the internal crises of the party, lack of internal democracy and total disrespect.
Also, in a press statement signed by Hon. Barnabas Samuel and Hon. Ibrahim Samuel (Oganto) and issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday, the decampees lamented that the names that emanated during the last party congress were entirely different from the ones brought to be used for the primaries.
The different names, they claimed, were responsible for the present court case between Sen. Uba Sani and Sha’aban.
“Another reason was that the State House of Assembly party primaries has come and gone but certainly not without some avoidable challenges. It is only logical and ideal that after every contest all the aspirants that lost in the contest are brought together for genuine reconciliation with the flag bearer.
“Last month, instead of calling for reconciliation, the party stakeholders of our local government met at Kaduna under the guise of reconciliation, but the meeting turned out issuing warnings and threats to those that lost in the last primaries should any of them be caught in any anti-party activity in the forthcoming election.”
The Catholic Church on Wednesday said it did not send any representation to the public presentation of Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Consequently, the prominent Christian body said unidentified persons dressed in robes at the event in Abuja earlier today were imposters.
“We have seen the photos circulating online, they are not Catholic bishops. The Catholic Church did not send any representation to the event held today by Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima,” Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku, a spokesman for the Catholic Church Headquarters in Abuja, told Peoples Gazette. “If you look at the manner the imposters dressed and conducted themselves, you will see they are not Catholic Church officials.”
The event at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, was initially scheduled for last Thursday but was shifted till today following a hail of complaints that trailed the selection of Mr Shettima, a Muslim former governor of Borno State, by the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The fake bishops were apparently hired by Mr Tinubu’s campaign to give Christian voters a false impression that his decision to pick a fellow Muslim despite strong objections and national security implications was accepted by the Christian community.
The Christian Association of Nigeria, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and other concerned bodies had registered their opposition to the presentation of a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the ruling party for the 2023 general election.
Christian leaders in the APC had also warned that the same faith presidential ticket would spell doom for the party in the upcoming polling as there were already accusations that the party was tending towards an Islamic supporter of APC inclination.
But in an apparent move to douse the criticisms, the unknown persons appearing in Christian leaders’ apparel were led into the venue of the unveiling amid taunts.
