I actually called First Logic yesterday afternoon.

The lady on the phone said GRE is 30K while TOEFL is 26K

So from these prices, it's not the offical rate of $170 (GRE) and $150 (TOEFL).

getting someone to register for you abroad will save you about 10K. Like I said, it takes about 3 to 4 weeks to get exam date, plan accordingly and make early payment if you want to write the exam soon.

@trillions

I didnt register at First Logic, registered at another test center around Igbosere, Lagos Island.

Am not sure about mailing your forms. Have her call TOEFL here and let her get clarification.

I intend to write my GRE/TOEFL in October.

I was just wondering, even if someone pays for you in the US, won't the Testing center stil collect some form of money for writing the exam in their centre?

No, the center wont collect any money from you for writing the exam there. The funny thing is that I didnt even write my exams at the centered I registered. I wrote the TOEFL at Yaba and the GRE at Ikeja.

My TOEFL exam was postponed 3 times. Each time, about 2 or 3 weeks. So I got to write it after about 10weeks I registered.
Why is was postponed was because the centers I was told to write the exam didnt have a good Internet connection on the day of the exam. And because TOEFL is iBT, the results and questions are been downloaded and submitted real time. Without a good connection, if you get disconnected, thats the end of the exam.

Which is why I suggested First Logic because they have good Internet connection and the chances of your exams being postponed by this issue will be low.

I didn't get GRE exam date until about 5 weeks after I registered though it wasn't postponed unlike the TOEFL.

If you plan to write either exams, I suggest you register like 10 weeks before your desired exam date.

thank you. this is so wonderful. can you please tell me how i can get materials for GRE and apply for the test. toefl inclusive. also if i can start earlier in the year in the US instead of waiting until september. advice on choice of appropraite school will be appreciated. i want to apply fo a masters degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering. my email address is timadi2000@yahoo.com

You can either get the materials at a book store, or check online. There are some websites you can get them for free. Kaplan and Barron materials are good choice both for GMAT and TOEFL.

To apply for the test, you can visit First Logic as well, they can help you make the payment and register you for the exam. Or if you have someone abroad who can make payment for you, its kool too and probably cheaper. But TOEFL wont accept payment directly from Nigeria.
The test centers also have people abroad that does payment for them , its not like they pay directly. or so I think.

Search for schools that offer your desired degree program on google or cuil. Check the department's goals of the program and see if it meets your expectation, that way, you know which school is appropriate for you and which is not.

lets call a spade a spade jare, he was surely the cause of the goal!!! tell me what a short goalie is doing rushing out of his 18 yard box?
he caused 3 of the 4goals we conceded at the tournament

its not even about he being short, its about him using his common sense. I mean, the guy have not even gotten in the 18 yard for crying out loud and whats more, he was driving in from the left side corner, not the center, otondo!

@bigboyslim and sayhi2ay, I was asked by the school im applying to to forward my financial statement to prepare an i-20 for visa preparations., please i have 2 questions. 1- should the financial statement be in dollars or in our local currency?
2- what is the minimum amt that should be in my account so as not to hurt my chances of getting admission and who should own the account? Thanks
1. If the statement is in Naira, they know how to do the conversion. Dont worry about that.

2. The balance in the account I used was 30000Naira or something similar. What they actually look at is the total amount debited and credited to the account, not the current balance. So that is the amount that would be printed on your I-20. Well, it could be different from other schools.
But am not saying I used the same statement at the embassy. I used that account cos I was posting it and dont know what could have happened along its way, lol,
At the consulate, they check the BALANCE.

I think its better your parents be your sponsor.

Obama can pick whoever he wants but if it's not Hillary, then I don't know what strategy he will employ to win the white house in November. Besides, his nomination as democratic candidate has not been inked in yet, his name is still written in pencil and can be erased if the Superdelegates stage a coup in Denver to favor Hillary.

YEAH RIGHT !!!

the tools are free to download, its not about that, its about knowing the information to look for when the software hack into the network. like i said, the are not processed data.

@sayhi2ay and bigboyslim.Thank you very much for your assistance you guys are Godsent. i still have some questions,
1-I made my application online and i intend to pay the application fee next week, will it hinder my application?
2- How should i send my Transcript currently in my possesion to the School being that they do not accept transcripts directly from students?
3- Can i send certified photocopies of my transcript?
4- I intend to write GRE come november this year will it hinder my plans for the fall of next year?

1. Once the school get the application fee, they will begin the admission process. Without this fee, they wont touch your application.

2. It doesnt matter if you send the transcript yourself or through your school, what matters is that the transcript is sealed and doesnt look tampered with. Also, there should be a letter in the envelope saying that you asked that your transcript be sent to them.(very very important). I got my transcript from my school, and FedEx it myself, if the school had sent it for me, God knows when they will get it, that is if they even get it at all.

3. Ask the school if they will accept. I strongly doubt that though.

4. No it wont. The result expires after 5 years I think. Why wait till next Fall anyways?

Wow, have been a waiting a long time for this kind of thread. Ok down to business.

1. Cracking a WEP encrypted network is so easy i can do it falling asleep. There are two levels of encryption for a WEP encrypted network 64bit and 128bit encryption. To crack a 64bit wep key you need a minimum of 250,000 ivs while for a 128bit key you need over 1million ivs. However, the most important thing is your wireless card must support both monitor mode and injection. Linux is the best OS to use for hacking a wireless network. period.

2. Cracking a WPA, WPA2-TKIP or AES network also is easy but a little bit trickier. All you need to do is disassociate an already connected computer on the network and as it reconnects, the password is grabbed. However, the password is encrypted (the advancement over wep) and so you need to bruteforce the password using a dictionary. Most naija passwords are simple and easy to crack.

3. However, there are certain networks whereby they will prompt you to use a username and password once you open IE or mozilla using softwares like mikrotic or antamedia hotspot manager. This is where a sniffer program comes into play. A sniffer is a program that sits on the network sniffing out peoples messages and passwords. All you need is patience, and the software will grab a password for you.

4. For those networks that use mac filtering, get a mac changing program like TMAC which will change the mac address of your network card to whatever you want. You can then enter the network disguised as an already authenticated system.

There is more but am getting tired and hungry. So stay tuned.

How about WPA2 sir ? grin

If I may ask - how does capturing a full authentication handshake from a real client and the AP gives you access to WPA keys. Have you stopped to consider that the WLAN admin might be using WEP key that are over 20 characters long including non different case and non-standard characters? Brute forcing on this would take years millions of years to crack even with extreme processing power.

Not saying WEP is impossible to crack but there are more variables to consider and usually not as easy as you've made it look. Really depends on how it's been configured. Regards

are you talking about WEP or WAP ?

The FBI demonstrated a WEP crack at a conference (summer of 2005) that took only 3 minutes using freeware cracking tools.

for WAP , your theory is true, but because each laptop has to be aware of the password, most administrator use simple passwords out of ignorance which makes cracking it more easy than WEP . But if it is 20 xters long like you said, and not "words", then it might take sometime to crack.
but if you capture enough packets, say hundreds of thousands, maybe you could still sniff it out,

I'm sure u guys are speakin english, but for the average dude, that is just so much gibberish, i mean if the guy knew even half of what u assume he knows he wont be shoutin for helo here wuld he, besides am interested also, so please spk english

for you to want to hack into a network, you must have an understanding of what networking is all about and how protocols work. Without these knowledge, using the cracking software will be a bit difficult.

because these tools sniff out packets(not the actual data), its left for you to figure the information you need, IVs, pass-keys, bla bla bla .

If we begin a tutorial on it , this website wont be enough.

with a very good tool, you can hack WEP enabled network in 3 minutes. and for WPA , just sniff the authentication handshake (password authentication) and do the rest of the hacking in your bedroom.

You need to check to see if the wireless network u are talking about is security enabled or not.

If not you are in luck. you can just click on the network and you should be connected.

If it is WEP -security enabled this can be cracked if WPA sorry dude u are out of luck

very wrong !

for a WPA enabled network, all you need to do is capture a full authentication handshake from a real client and the AP, bingo !

please i have a laptop with wireless facilities, and also a hot spot around
my area. but they charge me alot i want i way to hack their network so
i could browse free. any hint?

Depends on the kind of router your ISP uses. Most routers are configured so that they can only give access to approved MAC addresses, that way, there is no way you will be able to have access to the network talkless of hacking it, unless of course you have an idea about an approved MAC address of a laptop, then you change your MAC address to that. Then you have unlimited access to the network.

Another way is camouflaging a web page on the network, so that if an approved laptop wants to browse, the web page will ask for the password of the network, and the web page will direct the password information to you.

All the best.

What subject do you study? That seems like a very interesting and unusual application experience you had. I'm certainly not trying to talk down the importance of the GRE. It can be crucial in some circumstances. For social sciences, humanities, and other liberal arts departments it's pretty common to put a strong emphasis on one's personal statement and GPA over their GRE score.

I am a M.A student at San Diego State University. Whereabout in the US are you staying?

Thats true, I can agree with you it might not be strongly emphasized for social sciences, humanities, and other liberal arts departments.

My major is Computer Science, wright state university.
