deols: well, I heard of the pairing from people who have been paired. Can you explain how the hajj commission is allowed to act as Mahram? In what book is that written. I have also heard that a group of fifty women may not need one. But I'd require a reference before believing that.

No relative of mine was involved but I feel their pain as a Woman and a fellow Nigerian. In fact more Importantly as a fellow Muslim.

Maltreating them would be wrong. They did not commit any crime to warrant that. The Nigerian government should seriously address that.

I wasnt defending the Saudis. I am more concerned about earning the respect we so much yearn.

btw, do you work with the hajj commission? who are the 'we' you are talking about.
Women were there with their husbands- and who is to say they are lying?

The below is an audio interview of a woman who said that they split men from women and did not allow the wives to meet up with their husbands.

i dont know whats there to really laugh about the sad case in the north has an even bigger effect on the south.

I hear southerners complaining more about north's backwardness/illiteracy/poverty than Northerners themselves.

PoliticsRe: Message For Yoruba by sbeezy8: 12:23am On Sep 28, 2012
lol youre own type of tribalism is pitiful feuled by jealousy, anger AND joblessness MAINLY JOBLESSNESS. no really i cant imagine a GROWN MAN sitting on the internet looking up tribalistic articles.

even me as immature as i am- dont give two FUQS about what other tribes say or do in naija.

When i say Im from the SW- I'm really from the SW doesnt matter how good or bad outside people are doing- i can careless.

as an igboman- if ure truly a THOROUGH igboman you should focus more on good igbo issues that make youre region better than other instead of focusing on yoruba.

its like an obsession of yours. like do you google search "yoruba" and pick what ever is negative about them?
IslamRe: Saudi Deports 71 Of The Detained Female Hajj Pilgrims by sbeezy8: 3:29pm On Sep 27, 2012
CALL A SPADE A SPADE- SAUDI government are HYPOCRITES and so are Nigerian Muslim who do not protest this! Fact is Quran state that women should not travel without Mahram - but Saudi women do, ALWAYS TRAVEL IN GROUPS and BY THEMSELVES so do the indonesian women, Malaysian women and co who go for Hajj why would Nigerian Muslim women be any different.

This is not a thing of xtian vs muslims or Jews- this is pure facts the Saudi government is racist and HYPOCRITES- any muslim who has been to hajj KNOW that women travel in group without male counterparts.

the below pics- where are these women - mahram?

I dont see where this is coming from. His assessment is based on the number of slots each region is given.

If all SW officials are ACN opposition why would they want to be apart of the government they are opposing?

Its people like Akintola that are the anti-SW. The time the SW was the MOST marginalised was under Obasanjo No doubt about. President came and left the region with the SW being divided even among PDP members.

maclatunji: It's so funny to see so many comments of people falling upon each other to post upon ignorance. The Saudi authorities know why they deported those women, which some of us also know and understand.

Enjoy your ignorance festival here. It's a party for you lot. However, I hope those in charge of hajj operations from the Nigerian side would learn to follow due process instead of ignoring rules and hoping to get away with it.
ur missing the point and being an apologist- people like you act as if this is the first time women have traveled to hajj - 2012 isnt the first.

and women were normally given temporary escorts. they also deported women with husbands

even saudi women travel alone or in groups there

Emary: @shymmex, it is because of persons like yourself that I rarely comment on Nairaland. I was merely stating the facts of the situation and if you don't agree, please use your brain to make an intellectual argument against it but kindly refrain from addressing me in such a manner again. If you read my post properly, I said my maternal grandfather contributed to the development of Lagos and fought for independence. I never said I claim Lagos.
the same can be said about the many hausas yorubas edos urhobos that were commissioners, teachers, mayors council men in the south east during colonial times. but we know its not like that.
PoliticsRe: Who Is A Lagosian? by sbeezy8: 6:43pm On Sep 26, 2012
Emary: People will always find ways to segregate rather than integrate. There is no one indigenous to anywhere in the world if you want to be honest about it. From caveman to modern man, people move about in search of better pastures or why else are Nigerians prepared to go wash toilets and dead bodies in America? The principles of economy dictate that people will migrate for prosperity in search of a better life and as long as people legitimately enter an environment and contribute to the growth of the economy, why should there be a problem of origin? These are the contributing factors that are developing societies such as the United States and Great Britain. They keep those who make meaningful contributions and weed out the chaff. Fashola should tackle the Agberos and Omo-oniles Tinubu created first as they are the miscreants in Society. You can hardly find Igbos who are idle, they hustle. If you do a ratio of boys selling stuff in traffic, 5:1 is an Igbo person. The truth is if a people are lazy, the outsiders they bring in to do their work will over time dominate them. It is the reason that Pharoah tried to kill the Hebrew children. He should focus on empowerment programs instead of claiming over population. Yes, Lagos is densely populated but it is also the largest workforce in the country which gives it the most viable growth potential. For people who have been here above 15 yrs, it might be too late to start evicting them now.
I dont understand what ur saying- In America Majority of people who indulge in street hawking and selling oranges are Overwhelmingly Mexicans, El savodorians. has nothing to do with Lazy, people generally from outside places see opportunity in the easiest trades that require no concrete investments, and bring back easy cash- which tend to be those trades that people will not want to do.

Nigerians clean toilets abroad- is it because British, Americans are Lazy? NO but its not attractive, tends not to ahve any benefits such as health care, etc.

Fulanis cattle- is is because southerners are lazy? No, because it is not as attractive to most southerners like banking, engineering

pic below is in America- a non american lady selling oranges on the street.

CrimeRe: Lagos Robberies: Three Suspects In Police Net by sbeezy8: 6:32pm On Sep 26, 2012
bashr8: Police foil robberies, arrest three in Lagos
PUNCH NEWSPAPER August 20, 2012 by Eniola Akinkuotu
The suspects

Policemen attached to Bode Thomas Division, Lagos State, on Sunday foiled two robbery incidents in Surulere and arrested three suspects in the process.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects were operating about 8:30am when a resident sent a distress call to the police.
Our correspondent, who visited the area, learnt that the Divisional Police Officer, Bode Thomas, Mr. Bode Ojajuni, led policemen to the scene and arrested one of the suspects identified as Lekan Jamiu.
The residents said the other two suspects, Lukman Bioku and Dare Johnson, immediately ran into a nearby compound.
They said when the policemen chased the suspects, they (suspects) jumped over the fence into another compound.
It was gathered that when the robbers entered the compound, they held one of the occupants hostage, threatening to kill the victim if he alerted the police of their presence.
It was learnt that in their bid to escape from the compound, they took clothes which had been spread on a line and wore them. They were about escaping when the policemen arrested them.
A resident, who preferred anonymity, said, “As the robbers kept jumping from fence to fence, the policemen pretended to have left the scene so that the robbers would think the coast was clear.

“After the robbers had changed their clothes, they were about escaping when the policemen arrested them.”
The incident was said to have caused pandemonium as the residents almost lynched the suspects before the policemen saved them.
A landlord in the area, who declined to give his name, said he was impressed by the manner the police displayed professionalism, noting that robbers usually chose festive periods or weekends to unleash mayhem on the area.
He said, “It seems the new modus operandi of these robbers is to attack on Sundays when people are careless as regards security or festive periods when people entertain many guests.
“I was really impressed with the way the police handled the situation. The three suspects were arrested and they did not succeed in robbing any of us.”
The spokesperson for the state Police Command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident.
She said the command was not resting on its oars in fighting crime, adding that the beefing up of security was not only during festive periods but beyond.
She said, “The Bode Thomas Police Station received a distress call that robbers were operating. So the DPO led his men to the scene. On seeing the policemen, the robbers opened fire but one was immediately arrested while two others escaped.
“The two, who escaped, jumped over a fence into a compound, held the occupants hostage and changed their clothes so that they would not be easily identified by the police but they were arrested and a locally-made pistol was recovered from them.”
Meanwhile, the Bode Thomas Police Division also foiled another robbery attempt at Adisa Badua Street, Surulere. The robbers had attempted to snatch a black Toyota RAV 4 with number plate NT427KJA but abandoned the operation on sighting the policemen.

PUNCH Metro learnt that efforts were being made to arrest the fleeing suspects while the car was taken to the station.
robbers are allover Nigeria but I dont expect a yoruba armed robber to terrorize the North or Southeast.
If they did everyone will be sayin yorobbers blah blah

afam4eva: We all know talk is cheap. I wonder why the Yorubas in oil companies in the east are not thinking like you.
cause they want to make money for themselves- like the whites in oil companies all over the world- but when it comes to concrete investments and infrastructure I would like to impact the area in which I live and its surroundings.

One of the reason I've grown not to care about Oil, fast money, not concrete development.
PoliticsRe: Who Is A Lagosian? by sbeezy8: 5:25pm On Sep 26, 2012
Igbos can claim Lagos all they want I dont care- but at the end of the Day KNOW that I will never invest outside South west Nigeria.

even if they gimme free oil block in Imo- ill sell it as soon as they give it to me. use the money for agriculture in Ogun,Oyo,Osun,Kwara projects in Ondo. and banking in Lagos.

geeez: Okay Imo , Ananmbra, Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi are also NO MAN''s LANDS
you cant even play those games with igbos mehn- even if I was given freeland and everything in the southeast I would not GO. I would not even go to any part of Nigeria that isn't yoruba speaking.

shiorr even everyone in my family that have mother from all over Nigeria will not even think about living outside Southwest Nigeria- I'd rather go to ghana, freetown, coutonou, Lome.

straight like that.
PoliticsRe: Who Is A Lagosian? by sbeezy8: 5:08pm On Sep 26, 2012
Emary: Lagos can never claim to be a place with only indigenous roots, For one, a lot of the land in Lagos is reclaimed. Who was occupying it before then. Two, there were many people who settled here before independence and contributed to the growth and development of the place. It would be impossible to chase away their descendants now. My maternal grandfather though half Igbo and half Ghanaian was a Councillor in Lagos as far back as 1953. There were also several resettled slaves who have intermarried with the communities. 95% of the families on Lagos Island have them. Three, this is a federation and our constitution gives all Nigerian citizens the right to live anywhere in the country so long as they are not convicted criminals. The governors you have in Lagos, Tinubu and Fashola inclusive are not full blooded Lagosians so who are they fooling?
sorry my sister this makes no sense. maybe in another 200 years. they will all become Lagosian but not now wouldn't make sense.

You are talking about independence wetin concern us with independence ?

Bukola Saraki and his father Olusola- grew up in Lagos went to become Governor in Kwara.

Olusegun Agagu grew up in Lagos- became governor of Ondo.

Rauf Areagbesola grew up in Lagos- and lived in Lagos over 30 something years Governor of Osun.

not true- even a lagosian will laugh at an ilorin, ife, oyo person claiming lagos. I've seen it many times
PoliticsRe: Who Is A Lagosian? by sbeezy8: 4:34pm On Sep 26, 2012
Lagos is yoruba land- with the exception of egun,ewe...- they are too if talking state. but Lagos was only an island before that did not include surrounding areas.

I dont know what the talk is about I know PLENTY of yorubas who are Ijebu, Oyo, Ilaje and will say they are not from Lagos- and return to their towns FREQUENTLY.

I hear more people non yorubas mainly igbos fixated on Lagos than yorubas edos hausas(who have been in Lagos longer)nupes,- Give it up its not that serious.

When I say Im from Lagos - im really from "Lagos" even my family have been senators in Lagos, commissioners in Lagos and Obas of Lagos.

Same as being a person from Southwest- Nigeria. When I say im from Southwest Nigeria- Im really from Southwest Nigeria I dont care what goes on in the north east or Niger delta excluding some-parts where grannys, aunts come from.
