coolio2014: All these talk about zones and so on. I understand the part about slots for indigenes of Bonny - afterall it's their immediate community. But what is all these talk about senatorial districts and zones?
NLNG NLNG NLNG!!! Pick the best hands for the job! Do not compromise on mental soundness on the platter of zoning! NLNG is a worldclass company and should act as such.
In the UK and other developed countries you can be disqualified in a recruitment process for stating you gender or age, not to mention where you are from. They do not want to know and do not care. All they are interested in is getting the BEST hands for the job based on pre ascertained qualifications. NLNG PLEASE follow the same standards. Being WORLD CLASS should not be "by mouth".
Actions should make this clear.
My bit.
My thinking on the call up date:
Working backwards If we are to resume January, We should already know by Ending November (to give room for quitting from previous jobs, getting ready for the NLNG resumptions et al)
If we are to be informed by late November, Medicals should have been concluded by October.
If Medicals are to be concluded by October, we should have been notified about medical call ups by September.
I believe September is when we will be notified for the NEXT stage - Medicals.
Like I said, my thinking. You just dey worry yourself on "what has always been, what will be and what will always be" If you were asked, Do you think NLNG has been run all these years by the best of the best, hence their sustainable development? If your answer is yes, then you should understand that there must be something working with this their zoning process and take a Chill pill.. Hehehe |

TruthisOut: As long as it is back door entry, it is wrong! Stick to due process! Some jobs come with high recommendations. Yes! that's if the company asks for it (eg. situations where the company requires referrals from staff and note this is not back door entry).
Yes, man will still be man and there will always be fifty shades of grey as you call it but that still does not make it right! If there are injustice done to you, cry out and let your voice be heard - a fix might come and there will be lessons learnt.
Nepotism or favoritism should not become a norm because a lot of people wish/hope for it or are already doing it. Let's as a people develop the attitude of reporting, finding solutions, fixing wrongs/sub-standards and condemning that which is bad! (we will get there someday).
My two cents.
P.S: Imagine if after two years of waiting and struggling to get recruited into NLNG and your name gets substituted by one rich man's son who just earned a Masters degree from MIT or Harvard? will you take it in good faith? (Reply Scarletdp and Npcomplete). This one na direct question sha. lol. Look you need to understand that people are very very different. And life has taught me that EVERYTHING happens for a reason and I always thank God for all my prayers answered and I thank Him more for those that seem unanswered because he alone knows best. After my service year few years back, I tried getting into the Nigerian Navy, after exams and all we were suppose to go for screening at Onne, They chose 10 form every state, I was number 2. On getting to Ph, my state we were 30, 20 people entered through IM, other states were 25, 20, 33. after screening they chose 3 from every state. None of the legal 10 made the final list from my state. I made a friend there from delta , she got in, and few months at the NDA, one person from my state died form one of the rigorous trainings. Look i'm not saying if they substitute my name, that the person might die or something, however it could be a million possibility of things, maybe something better awaits, maybe the other guy could have killed himself if he didnt get it, maybe he could be jobless and join a robbery gang that would attack a relative of mine someday. SOOOO MANY MAYBEs. we humans can't tell why. So to answer your question, ( God forbid) if my name gets substituted by one rich man's son who just earned a Masters degree from MIT or Harvard? believe me I will feel terrible because i am human and i gave my all and I'll strive to come out of that terrible state and give thanks to the almighty. FInd the next opportunity that awaits me and make the most of it. No strength for any other thing, aswear. |

All they are saying is that it happens, and your comments on here on Nairaland is not what will make it stop. Also, that if you were shown your AC performance and they told you that you did not do well, but dont worry we still want to give you the offer ahead of peeps that clearly did better, will you say 'No, I am not taking this offer as there are clearly others that did better than me'. Will you do that?
Pls dont come and be forming Champion of Morals over the keyboard when we know you will jump at the chance of skipping the tests and AC straight to offer & employment if you had that option.
P.S. After going thru that AC on Wednesday, I now understand why people easily gyrate from the 'spill' realm, to the 'no-spill' space. Was a very challenging exercise, but I still thank God.

weomet: How did I ever try to crucify him? by "Now I can see why evil thrives in this part of the world" which I made earlier, I mean that evil(wrong doing) thrives when no one does anything against it. Now this is criticism - I can imagine NPComplete to be like the wealthy man who lives in a street that has loads of poor people and all he does his ride in his jeep across the terrible road, then switches his generator when he gets into his high-fenced house and shuts his very big gate. He also goes to the office and gives a relative of his one of the 45 slot(out of the 50) that he mentioned earlier...what his is rationale? - he has to "gracefully sidestep murky waters on the way and focus only on the things within his control". He never moves a hand and refuses to exert any of his influence to purge "murky waters", he just "gracefully sidesteps" them.
You don't know me, you don't know what I would or would not do if I knew babs, neither do u know if I looked at the "hints" for the SHL. Besides they are called 'hints' for a reason and not 'expo'. Also, in ur second paragraph u seem judgemental. Don't tell me you have picked up my supposed trait of 'judging' others. In your third paragraph you are clearly judgemental. Since you mentioned the Lord...I am actually wondering if he took the approach of "sidestepping" murky waters gracefully when he was here on earth or if he refused to comment on right and wrong because evil will still be here when He came back.
lastly, 'commenting' about an issue is not the same 'judging' people that have the issue. the former focuses on the issue and the later focuses on the people that have the issue.
I am fairly certain that we can be certain about certain things in life...."In the end it is all about how we choose to see and live life".
No hard feelings... I'm literally confused .... anyways no hard feelings too. Let's just let it lie... #On to the Next. Good luck bro |

weomet: Now I can see why evil thrives in this part of the world...let's just focus on the slots that we have and let evil thrive. That is the underlying opinion in your comment. Ignoring a problem never makes it go away. @NPComplete concerning your earlier comment of "I won't assign myself a judge of what is right and wrong in the overall affairs of men" and "I will follow laid down rules to the letter"...a robot/soldier should talk like that...I am fairly certain you are neither. That is the way he has decided to go through life and you want to crucify him. The bolded in your post cannot be justified from where you stand until you find yourself in a position where a relative knows Babs and could influence the recruitment in your favor and then you say NO, i want to go through the legit process. During the shl stage, people came here after their exams and gave hints, if you were here then i'm sure you ain't gonna close your browser at the sight of that hint, however when it was time for AC, peeps realised how close their dreams were and decided to go all, intergrity, intergrity, intergrity. Where was right or wrong then? Never judge a man coz he sins in a different way compared to you, because given the chance, there is a great posibility you'll turn a deaf ear to "back door" is wrong or right. And evil will always thrive in the World until the second coming of our Lord, that is why we believe we are in it but not of it. |

NPComplete: Not even my friend. Let's use myself as an example. Do u think it has never happened to me before? And when it did happen, do u think I cried my to sleep with two hands holding my head and a single tear rolling down my cheek? Dude, u should get to know me. I am not saying backdoor recruitment is right. But I won't assign myself a judge of what is right and wrong in the overall affairs of men. I will follow laid down rules to the letter and I will try as much as possible to avoid hurting another person as long as it doesn't imply me hurting myself. And when another person hurts me, I don't begin to wish retributive justice on them. I just pick up myself and gyrate to a spatial position of increased happiness and bliss. And, yeah, there are actually people like me. Funny how this post began the 150th page, after reading weomet's post on page 149, I wanted to reply with 80% of what you just implied here. The bolded is just like a mirror coz it reflects me too. These argument came about coz I said not everyone that go through the back door is a wrong hand. It does not in anyway mean the act of nepotism is right. But honestly, great minds we have here, everyone carefully constructing their own position into words that make logical sense. And, yeah, I am like you. |

CHM11: There is nothing open and/or honest about this sentence 'going through the back door doesn't make you a wrong hand'.
For me, If you go through the back door, you are definitely a wrong hand. There are always accepted channels of getting employed by any company. Anything out of the accepted is unacceptable therefore it is definitely wrong. There is nothing to argue about here bro. I never said it was right or wrong, I was actually indifferent about it. First you wrote the wrong hands would get the job because they didn't go through the whole process, that statement is flawed as a company can only determine one as wrong, ON THE JOB and not the process that leads to getting the job. These tests don't really reveal how well one will do when on the job, they just set a parameter to separate thousands of people that will nevertheless perform well when given the chance. Some contract staff will claim, why would a coy go through the stress to recruit fresh grad to train when they themselves already know the job. Why not just take and convert them coz if we are to be honest, passing True , False and Cannot say questions or solivng quickly some ratios, Percentage changes etc doesn't make one the right man either. Most of this dudes are on contract maybe because of Educational qualification. I understand all you have said and believe me you are right in totality, only from where you stand. |

Finally someone has said how it is. *sigh*. People get into this coys but as contract staff. Most times they just lie about it. You think say e ease to just call Head HR and your child is on ful staff pay roll. you think recruitment just goes through one man? Its honestly harder than most people make it look. We can only pray the integrity of the company works in our favour and we maintain the right level of integrity also when we get there considering the importance of NLNG to Nigeria. They need the best hands on deck as I see the company playing a major part in the future of this country.
Hopefully BrassLNG and OK-LNG will kick off soon, NLNG staff will most likely be needed on secondment upon start up. Employing through the back door wouldn't make sense at all because the wrong hands will get the right jobs and in the long run mess things up. Going through the back door doesn't mean you are a wrong hand. No one can honestly say if you knew someone who could pull off back door entrance for you, that they will reject it. |
