Rose2014: Ok na. Let's watch n see 24days to go
I just get pissed when I hear VP this, VP that (if that's all the south will get)
I didn't mean to call all Yorubas slave but one thing I noticed is that most of the people that don't care if the north keeps the rest of the positions are Yorubas because of almost useless VP position. It makes little sense to me So you speak to all Yorubas in Nigeria and they told you they dont care. You guys should stop generalizing things just to insult the Yorubas. APC is not Yoruba and any decision of the APC is not the decision of the Yorubas, there are Ibos in APC, same with Ijaws so lets stop these slave crap of a thing. You should wait till after handover before you vent your anger. |

I have yet to delete or edit any of my posts, and challenged him to quote such posts of mine for all to see or cursed be his family and his generations yet unborn. And the curse shall follow him if he can't post those comments he accused me of making. Dont mind the hypocrite. They dislike anything Buhari or North, see the mofo calling a whole tribe slaves but we all know the true slave in this country. I dont know what concern Buhari with Senate President/speaker. Maybe they want the APC to leave there members and go for PDP since there is no APC rep/senator in the SE. |

[s] Rose2014: North and south South had presidency, North was allowed to play along.
But under Buhari, it's all about the north but Yorubas refuse to see it. All u see is VP this, VP that.
Btw no amount of insult from u can change the obvious
Leaders of tomorrow indeed [/s] Why not wait till May 29th before calling a whole tribe slaves? You ranting cos of mere newspaper gossip and insulting a whole tribe yet you talking about insult. Your hatred for Buhari is making you sound foolish cos i dont know if its the President that will elect the Senate Pres/Speaker. Everything to you is Buhari, Hypocrisy is bad for your health, |

Are you people slaves to the Ijaw as well since you all queue behind GEJ/Sambo. You have been screaming slave everywhere like a deranged dog, grow up and stop embarassing your family online. omoeso: Enough said, never knew Ibos hate yorubas this much. So, most of the Ibo friends I have are just plutonic friends and deep down they hate me so much, Wow. Anyway, if Ibos hate hausas so much dat, or is hausas that hate Ibos so much that every slight opportunity, they are killed in their hundreds up in the north. And come down west they hate the yorubas this much, So, who actually do they tolerate? And to think about it, who gives a damn about marginalization in the first place. How did OBJ personally affects my life as an individual? Same questions goes for GEJ, how has his government brings succor to an average man walking down the road in SE? My brothers, every politician to himself and himself alone. Makes to difference to me. If OBJ did not improve the welfare of the yorubas during his tenure as president, how much has GEJ done to improve the living condition of the SE/SS, I beg, everyman for himself!!! |

pluto04: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." George Santayana
'Whoever wishes to foresee the future must consult the past; for human events ever resemble those of preceding times. This arises from the fact that they are produced by men who ever have been, and ever shall be, animated by the same passions, and thus they necessarily have the same results.' - Machiavelli
“It is not worthwhile to try to keep history from repeating itself, for man's character will always make the preventing of the repetitions impossible” Mark Twain
It is quite amusing to find out that a topic about 'Yoruba Elders' complaining to Jonathan is drawing so much bile from most of the ibo posters on this topic. I hope that the hatred for the Yorubas shown here does not mirror the hatred shown towards Yorubas by Ibos on the streets of Lagos. If this bile is already being expressed on the streets of Lagos, I can safely assert that the grounds of the 60s Kano pogroms against the ibo that led to the civil war has been prepared, only waiting for a trigger or match to light up a conflagration. With the rate at which ibo teenagers are looking for trouble here we might have a repetition of history coming up, probably triggered by something as silly as a bloody quarrel between a Yoruba man and an ibo man on the street Lagos and people capitalizing on that to release their pent up frustrations against the ibos. The only difference I can foresee between the impending history and that of the 60s is that we do not have strong regions today as we had then and there is no Ojukwu or Awolowo figure today. Coming conflicts (if it happens) might not lead to an all out civil war. It will only lead to a regime change with the 'military hawks' blaming the growing insecurity for the need to strike and restore order. Thereafter we'll start an endless repetition of our most recent history. Word. |

Mapletraks: ^^^^^^^ @stabillo
Yea, in old Havana in Cuba, the Yoruba or Lucumi traditions, religion and language are still very much alive.
Prof. Wole Soyinka is very popular in Cuba as well as the current Ooni of Ife who first visited the house of Oodua or Yoruba descendants in 1987 and later in 2001. He was received by Fidel Castro on both occasions.
For over 15 years now, I have read extensively about the Yoruba Descendants and religion/music in Cuba and I can say that Yoruba influence is even stronger in Cuba than in Brazil because the Spanish in Cuba were less repressive to Blacks on the slave sugar plantations and estates.
I must also add that in the Matanzas Province of Cuba, the Efik and Ibibio culture is still alive via the Ekpe society, and art!
Up to 175,000 Yorubas from Ijesa, Egba, Oyo, Ketu in Benin Rep. were shipped to Cuba in the 1800s alone and almost an equal number to Bahia in Brazil!
Words such as ere, ijo, ile for example are noticeable in the tropical music of Cuba.
Last but NOT least, the wealthy Nigerian billionaire business mogul - Ambassador Antonio Dehinde Fernandez's Yoruba ancestors returned from Cuba and settled in Lagos Island like most Yorubas who returned from Brazil, Cuba, Trinidad, Sierra Leone, and USA via Liberia did.
PS. The Alakija family patriach of Egba-Brazilian returnees was Sir. Adeyemo Alakija who dropped his Brazilian name of Placido Assumpcao after reading law in the UK in 1914. He was a very rich man in his days and co-founded the iconic Daily Times. He was the first Nigerian to be knighted by the British royalty.
