AkinDS:Am still trying to understand his point on Glory Ogbonna, on a good day Ogbonna isn't supposed to make the provisional list talkless of the team list for a tournament... |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0_yF8zD3LA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCGr4KHsNO8 With this little signs you still want to call Glory Ogbonna...?? |
AkinDS:I wonder the set piece qualities he's taking about, How do you rate Glory Ogbonna as a quality Left Back?? She's not in same class with the likes of Michelle Alozie who's not even originally a full back, she's no where close to Nicole Payne who's still playing college soccer talkless of Patricia George.. The rest can actually give us what the likes of Lucy Bronze and Crystal Dunn do for their teams but Glory Ogbonna can't except she improve more and more... A modern day fullback need to be one of the quickest player on the pitch it requires a lot of up and down running and Gloryis below average.. If Alozie keeps playing the right back for the Superfalcons and her Clubside probably convert her to a fullback too, I bet you she will be more better because her lapses is on the defensive side of it but going forward she has it.... George and N Payne has been playing as full back and winger for their team which gives them more edge... |
BascoVanVeli:As if Jessica Silva didn't do the same to Glory Ogbonna.. I will continue to say it She's no where in the Class of Patricia George, Michelle Alozie.. even Nicole Payne have better qualities than her.! There on YouTube you would easy see West Virginia Mountaineers games, watch them and see how talented Nicole Payne is...
|
BascoVanVeli:She's just too prone to costly errors, let's give another that same chance to prove herself!. Which setpieces?? Her deliverings are below average, Excluding Michelle Alozie who isn't playing her rightful position for the Superfalcons, Glory Ogbonna is average and way below them in the pecking order. How many times have you seen her overlapping runs with excellent delivery at the end?? |
isan:7 Attackers for me should be Desire Oparanozie Asisat Oshoala Fransisca Ordega Ifeoma Onumonu Esther Okoronkwo Uchenna Kanu Monday Gift.... **** Vivian Ikechukwu, Maclean's Chinonyerem Rasheedat Ajibade comes in at Midfield.. Rita Chikwelu Tony Payne Rasheedat Ajibade Regina Otu Halimatu Ayinde Christy Ucheibe ***** Ngozi Okobi, Mbadi Amanda, Joy Bokiri, Peace Efih, |
Going with pace Glory Ogbonna is far behind the 3 of them she can't match them (Alozie, George, Nicole)... Her reaction towards the ball is poor, overlapping runs she's average, Her pull out is Zero.... So Glory Ogbonna for me is a Nooooooo
|
BascoVanVeli:A Capital No for me.... and I also believe you're saying the Opposite I will go with Michelle Alozie, Patricia George, Nicole Payne ahead of her... She hasn't matched any of their qualities till date.... |
If it's only 6 defenders then i will go with... 1. Onome Ebi 2. Osinachi Ohale 3. Ashleigh Plumptre 4. Michelle Alozie 5. Patricia George 6. Nicole Payne |
Nicole Payne only need that game time to prove herself... She's a Superb Right Back, and can slot in as left back too, I will pick her ahead of Glory Ogbonna anyday anytime... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHXGyS_G5Sw |
If no injury and they're all fit, My 7 defenders for the AWCON would definitely be 1. Onome Ebi 2. Osinachi Ohale 3. Ashleigh Plumptre 4. Michelle Alozie 5. Oluwatosin Demehin or Onyinyechi Zogg or Akudo Esther Ogbonna 6. Patricia George 7. Nicole Payne |
GeneralDae:The Coach can decide to go with 3 center Backs to give room for Ashleigh natural position at Leicester City... In few months time, Onome Ebi would be 39yrs, I know very well she doesn't want to retire yet except she plays at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup which would be her 6th and another record for her.. note she's also eyeing her 100 and over 100caps with the Superfalcons which I know she will definitely get... Ashleigh might continue playing from the Left until Onome retires or Randy decide to start benching Onome. |
carbonado:Ashleigh Plumptre can play multiple positions too, She's supposed to be playing at No.5... Onome Ebi position but don't think Coach Randy would like to bench Ebi for now until she decides to retire though the aging sign have been showing on the Field of play.. Ashleigh plays left back and Midfield too.. As for Patricia George she's naturally a Wing Backs (Left or Right), she plays as a winger too and as a center forward.. but right now in the Superfalcons team the Left or Right back position is the only available spot for her... |
I just hope Patricia George get the chance to fight for a spot in the team... Ashleigh Plumptre played Left Back during the second leg in Cote D'Ivoire.. Patricia George will definitely do justice to that position with all the Qualities have seen. Another edge is that she uses both feets effectively and can play over multiple positions.. If she was available for the Ivorians game, I don't think they would have been able to get past her cause she's very Fast and Physical too... None of our present Defenders are as quick as Patricia. |
The Ivorians gave us a horrid treatment... Information from the media officer stated that some of the Nigeria fans where lucky to get in quick, while the rest where locked outside.. They were not allowed in...

It's a day that I will treasure’ - Christy Ucheibe revels in Super Falcons debut. Christy Ucheibe finally made her senior debut for Nigeria in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Cote d'Ivoire in Abidjan. The 21-year-old, who represented Nigeria at the 2014 U17 and 2018 U20 Women's World Cups, saw the final 25 minutes as the Super Falcons completed the double over the Ivorians with a 3-0 aggregate win to qualify for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations. After the win at Stade Robert Champroux, the midfielder said she was pleased to have had the opportunity to make a winning first appearance and she will always treasure the day she turned out for the senior team for the first time. “It felt really great and I think it was really important to get some minutes and it was really amazing to feature at the senior level, it was really important to get this feeling,” Ucheibe told SportNewsAfrica. “Well, it was an unbelievable feeling, and it is an emotional day for me, playing for the senior, it was really special and I was looking forward to it and today is the day that I will treasure because we also got the result we wanted to qualify for AWCON." The midfielder, who is on the brink of securing her second Portuguese title with SL Benfica is hopeful of a more successful outing ahead in the future campaigns with the Super Falcons. On the victory over the lady Elephants, she said: “It was a physical game, and we tried to cope up with the physicality, we did our very best to keep a clean sheet and get the winning goal in the end to qualify." "It is the qualifying tournament, so we still have a lot of time to work out on the areas that we have to work on and I am sure that at the main competition we will do even much better.” Nigeria are nine-time African champions and will make their 12th successive appearance in Morocco, where they will be eyeing their 10th crown and also the ninth Women's World Cup berth. |

NFF Press Release. Nigeria qualify for 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations Nigeria reached the finals of this year’s Women Africa Cup of Nations Championship after the Super Falcons held out bravely to defeat hosts Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in Abidjan on Wednesday evening. The scoreline meant an aggregate 3-0 win for the nine-time African champions. The Ivorians threw everything into the return leg encounter at the Stade Robert Champroux but met a steely Nigerian defence and an inspired goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie who would not give an inch. The game flowed back and forth for large swathes of the first half. Coach Randy Waldrum made two changes to the starting line-up from the first leg, bringing in midfielder Regina Otu and forward Francisca Ordega. The lively Ordega thought she had given Nigeria the lead halfway into the first period, but the Nigerien referee ruled it out. In the 34th minute, Nigerien referee Zouwaira Souley awarded a penalty to the homers after judging that Ashleigh Plumptre had tripped an Ivorian striker in the Nigerian area. Goalkeeper Nnadozie saved the shot, and the contact from the same player off the rebound went into side-netting. The Super Falcons dug their feet into the ground in the second half, refusing to give the Lady Elephants any leeway. Plumptre, Captain Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale and Michelle Alozie all held their ground as the Elephants increased their onslaughts. A minute to the end, Esther Okoronkwo, winning only her second cap for Nigeria, scored the back-breaker that confirmed a 3-0 aggregate win for the Super Falcons. Victory and qualification for Morocco 2022 was sweet revenge over the Lady Elephants, who bumped the Falcons on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
