While I fancy the invitation of new players, I really do not think it's the wisest decision now. We've experimented with quite a number of players these last couple of years, now is the time to concentrate on making the team gel. Of course new blood could be infused into the team especially with the players you highlighted doubtful, but it shouldn't be priority. Priority should be fashioning out a pattern and ensuring the girls get used to it

Am very sure this is what Coach Randy Waldrum will be doing at this Stage... Working on the team Style of play, tactically, technically and how they can gel together as a team
He needs to start knowing his starting 11 and possible replacement for them.

We already have enough pool of players. The AWCON is 3months from now..

As for Desire she had been out for about 3months now... George is going to two weeks now.

For Oshoala I don't even think Barcelona will allow her come for the Friendly since she's just recovering from the injury by that April. Them get important Champions League games ooo

Nigeria women to play Tokyo 2020 gold winners Canada in April friendly

Nigeria senior women team will play Canada in a two-legged international friendly in April in British Columbia, the Canadian Soccer Association has confirmed.

According to Canada Soccer, the first leg of the doubleheader comes up on April 8 in Vancouver, while the second leg will be played in Victoria - both in the Canadian province of British Columbia during the next FIFA window.

Canada are ranked six in the world following their triumph at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic, while Nigeria, who are featured at all the eight Women's World Cup are placed 41st on the global standings.

The reigning African queens booked a place in the Morocco 2022, TotalEnergies Women's Africa Women's Cup of Nations following a 3-0 second qualifying round aggregate win over Cote d'Ivoire in Febuary.

In build up to the continent's showpiece, which doubles as the qualifying tournament for the Fifa Women's World Cup 2023, the Nigeria Football Federation have secured the doubleheader date with Beverly Priestman's side.

Both teams will be meeting three years after they met in build up to the 2019 Fifa Women's World Cup in Spain, where Desire Oparanozie's effort could not save the Africans from a 2-1 defeat to the Canadians at Pinatar Arena.

Strikes from Janine Beckie and substitute Sophie Schmidt condemned the African champions to a defeat as they raised their record to 1-1-1 against the Nigerians. Before April 2019 meeting, they also met at the 2011 World Cup in Germany, where Nigeria won 1-0 in a deadrubber match, with both already missed out on progression.

This time, the Super Falcons will seek to revenge their recent defeat at the hands of the Olympic champions in attempt to make a statement ahead of the African showpiece and boost their position on the global rankings.

NEW Super League to launch August 2023 with fall-to-summer calendar by Jeff KassoufMarch 15, 2022

The second-division USL Super League will officially launch following the 2023 Women’s World Cup and, uniquely, will follow an August-to-June competition schedule to align with other international leagues. It will be the first women’s professional league in the United States to follow such a calendar, breaking from the traditional spring-through-fall calendar which the top-flight National Women’s Soccer League — and, previously, its predecessors — uses.

Starting the season in August and ending in June will allow the Super League to launch and contest its playoffs and championship in favorable weather. USL said in a press release that there will be a mid-season winter break in addition to the summer down time between seasons. USL Super League president Amanda Vandervort said that the schedule is also about aligning with the FIFA international calendar to avoid player absences — which suggests an ambition in itself regarding the potential player pool.

“The Super League calendar is strategically designed to deliver a top-quality fan experience by enabling our clubs to field their first-choice squads as often as possible,” Vandervort said. “With key international competitions occurring nearly every summer in women’s soccer, we want to help players effectively balance their club and country commitments.”

The NWSL consistently struggles with scheduling due to summer events, frequently missing swaths of star players to summer international tournaments, as will be the case this year with several continental championships — most of which double as World Cup qualifying — taking place in July.

Vandervort also said that the Super League’s calendar will allow it to participate in the global transfer market, particularly in the summer.

“We are doing something different because we believe it will set the foundation for a long-term, sustainable enterprise,” Vandervort said.

The USL Super League will be the first Division 2 women’s professional league in U.S. history when it launches. Salaries and standards, according to Vandervort and other leadership, will be consistent with the USL Championship, which is a men’s second division.

They keep saying Asisat Oshoala isn't in Barcelona Femenino first eleven..

Barcelona coach Jonatan Giráldez prefer Asisat Oshoala to Jennifer Hermaso if you notice, unlike Lluís Cortés who was a little bit bias in his First 11 selection.. he did same thing to Lieke Marten playing Mariona ahead of Martens even when she was fully feet.


She has been their first choice Striker this Season but Series of injuries kept her out on most occasion.. Hermaso is currently 2nd choice behind her if you watch them closely this season..

The Spanish League to me will hit number one soon with the way they're investing and developing it, currently one of the top paying league in Europe.

Why disrespect that young lady's hard work with such statement She was literally the best young player in the Nigerian league for crying out loud. Amina Abu too she was in post during the 2010 U17 before she signed for Minsk FC of Belarus in 2012 and after then no information about her again...

Another big goalkeeping discovery again was Marbel Egwuenu from 2006-2010 she was such a young an intelligent goalkeeper who got a Scholarship to Study and Play for Lee University in the US years back... Don't even know where she's presently

She has UEFA A Goalkeepers License, while also serving for three years as a player/coach at GBK
She made her debut for the Nigeria women's national football team in a 2001 match against Namibia. She missed the 2003 All-Africa Games due to an injury which also gave another glorious opportunity to move to Finland that same year. Ayegba represented Nigeria at the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, as well as the 2006 and 2008 African Women's Championships, and the 2007 All-Africa Games..

Racheal Ayegba was a great Goalkeeper then highly dependable even with her big size then..One of those who moved to Europe early... The Finland Women Football League was among the best then unlike now that the league have regressed.

This is not a nice thing to say. Even if the assistant is her god mother, I doubt u can prove without a shadow of doubt that this is wat really happened. I don't see how u can say this when a Rasheedat Ajibade was also getting called to the team at the time. They were both in the same U20 set and both impressed. Plus if I remember correctly Anam was one of the leading goal scorers in the Nigerian league at the time.

I think the problem with Super Falcons is progression management. I mean here, the delicate but difficult task of slowly easing younger talents into the team. The last time this was done was 2010-2012. However, what we see is, a talent who had a brief spectacular flare is quickly forced into the senior team and expected to adapt and excel. For the old ones like me, can we recall around 2003 or so when the likes of Akide, Chiejine Egbe, etc had traveled to the USA, China, and co, the Super Falcons coach had to rustle up a second-team home-based who finally were even better, and this was when spectacular players like Nkwocha, Vera Okolo, Akudo Sabi, etc changed the team?

Teams are carefully built up, with issues such as talent, fitness, and also (very importantly) adaptability. Players should be graduated from age grades into Falcons and the old ones slowly eased off before the old ones get very old, tired, and disgraced off. (Like they did to my darling Precious Dede). Now I love Chiedozie and she has done well for herself but she has not reached the level of confidence and reliability Dede provided. It was unfortunate that Dede was stretched till 2015 when Tochukwu or Alaba could have been eased in earlier.

In the attacking lineup, we should have new faces who have been raised enough to the confidence level of Oparanozie. Oparanozie is still good and for a long time, we will miss her spot-kicks but if the truth is told, Nigeria has a wealth of attackers and young ones should have been groomed to her confidence level a long time ago.

Precious Dede was a dependable Goalkeeper then.. the problem with our coaches then was, they were lacking the know how or should I say know when to phase to Old and tired legs off.. look Tochukwu Oluehi was good right from her U19 days, she started deputizing Precious Dede right from 2006 alongside the likes of Racheal Ayegba and co before the Alaba Jonathan came in 2010 then comes unreliable Ibubeleye Whyte in 2012 (Coach Edwin Okons Favorite, We call her Monkey nor fine but e papa like her).. Oluehi with over 50Caps. One thing I noticed then was as soon as they move to Europe we tend to forget them until they come back to the NWPL...


Anyway Chiamaka Nnadozie will hold on to the First Choice for long with the way she's developing fast, hope Onyinyechi Okeke earn her spot back to the team soonest..
