Missyajoke: If a parent refuse to train their children later such children will ruin your legacy. I see a lot of parents who overlook their children excesses all in the name of being Gen Z. More parents in this generation will cry in their old age over their refusal to train their child/children properly and raise them well. most of these parents obviously support their children indulging in Yahoo. Some of these children are graduates without jobs or reasonable job. I believe you know the level of unemployment in the country is a ticking time bomb. These parents are poor. They spend their limited resources sending their wards to school but nothing to show for it at the end They do console themselves with the fact that our so called government are the greatest Yahoo, embezzling tax payers money, living large, having properties across the globe while billions if not trillions of dollars run in their various bank account. They have dual citizenship for themselves and family. They're one of the highest paid politicians in the world, while an average Nigerians cannot afford to feed. |

BRATISLAVA: Your translation/stand/interpretation, not mine. You stand that they are the cause of poverty in your first quote.
There's nothing more to say about it. You can't explain it better to them. Not when you've both expressed the same stance. you're still saying the same thing. I said too many children is one of the cause of poverty in Nigeria, while you on the other hand said having excess children doesn't make one poor. In a nutshell, you said having too many children is not the cause of poverty in Nigeria. Meaning, anyone can have any amount of children they wish or desire. |

You guys are free to think whatever you want about poverty and children. Whatever translation makes you happy.
It's not black and white enough for people to say that it's because they had children that they are poor today. That is an assumptive fallacy peddled here too often. But that was your stand. You believe having too many children is not the cause of poverty in Nigeria. I am only reiterating your point to Kobojunkie. Or is there a change of mind to your believe? |

Meringe: All I see here is problem of the father. He has no direction for his family. The mother too has no direction for her family too. With proper planning, they will fix you guys to productive ventures that doesn't require money. 2 sons should have gone for apprenticeship to a successful businessman. 2 boys sent to learn handiwork. Within 6 years, the fortune of the family must change. If you read the post then you'd know the mother has been trying supporting her family. A mother Hawking with her children just to feed. What else do you expect? Sell her body for money or what? I guess the aspect of apprenticeship is practice by the igbos and even at that the culture is gradually winding up amongst the ndigbo as most parents want their children educated. Learning handwork is also very good but a family that struggle to feed will find it difficult. A child whose learning handwork must feed and get his/her working instruments which i feel could be difficult for OP family. How OP managed to have his degree despite the poor state of the family and still graduate with good grade need to be studied. How i wish God can bless him with a good paying job just to crown his efforts. He has really tried to be a better person. |

Those leaders are being paid with tax payers money. Allow Nigerians criticise their leaders. There's hardship in the country, under Tinubu government. Insecurity is nothing to write home about. Unemployment is now seen as a norms. An average Nigerian youths are into cyber fraud (Yahoo) due to high rate of unemployment. Most households cannot feed. Things can't continue like this while the leaders are enjoying living large with tax payers money. It is not done. Obi, Atiku, Kwakwanso are not the president so i see no point talking about them. Tinubu is the president. He cried that it was his turn to be president. He was voted into the office to help ease the deteriorating state the country was. Sadly, it's getting worst as at this moment. Allow people to talk please. The leaders are enjoying while an average Nigerians are suffering. Allow them air their pain please |

Kobojunkie: I never said or hinted at children being the cause of poverty, more does such a line of thought matter to me. What matters as far as this topic is that OP's parents are responsible for the problems he and his brothers have had to deal with thus far. His mother and father, set them on a part of hardship the moment they both decided to have them while themselves mired in poverty. sadly most of these parents don't see it that way. To them they believed they have done these children great favour bringing them to this world. While the children owe them the duty of taking care of them because they gave birth to them. |

Kobojunkie: OP is not merely single and poor. He was born into this world by poor parents who failed to provide him all that was necessary to get him the good start he required to establish himself economically. That is why OP is poor. If Op had instead squandered the resources handed him by his parents then we can blame OP but this is not the case at all here. I understand But @BRATISLAVA was indirectly saying OP parents are poor not because of the many children they had but because they are already poor from onset. To BRATISLAVA, children are not the cause of poverty and truly from OP story there was no time things was okay for his family. This mean he was born into poverty, OP and his siblings are not the cause of their parents POVERTY. They had been poor even before they gave birth to them. Even if they didn't give birth to them they'd still be poor. They only brought in the children to take part or share in their poverty. Should we assume @BRATISLAVA was right about children not being the cause of poverty? |

badoh: Those are exceptions. Only few women are disciplinarian and women in these category do it to the extreme. Nigeria culture system that allows parent to instil discipline on their children or teachers to correct their students is very commendable as this helps in building a better and sane society. This is one thing that the western world lack and causing ripple effect on the lifestyle of their children. The inmates in all our correctional centres are they all raised by single mothers? The level of cyber fraudsters amongst our youths and prostitution, are they also raised by single mothers? The rapist, ritualist, kidnappers, pedophile, bandits etc are they all raised by single mothers? The armed robbery, street urchins, pick pockets etc are they singlehandedly raised by single mothers? TV/Movies › Re: What I Think After Watching "A Tribe Called Judah" by Scholace: 6:31pm On Jan 21, 2024 |
OZIOGU1: I watched part of the movie and all you pointed out are true, the truth is that this generation women 98% will always wish to have the kids to themselves, the remaining 2% may never exist, the reason is very simple (selfishness).
Most women believe that Thier male child is like a gold and see the female child as either the property of the father or the future husband.
One thing I continue to admonish men to strive to do is, provide for your family, care for them and show them love...the day your wife will try to manipulate those kids your suffer to prove for against you, God will obviously strike with incurable sickness. Research shows that women now prefer to live alone with Thier kids the moment the ma turns 60...men should have an alternative, plan your future. I disagree completely Women would want to have custody to the kids because as a man you will definitely outsource the upkeep of your kids at the absence of their mother. Either to his mother, sisters, or his concubines. But women will singlehandedly raised their kids either they chose to remarry or remain single mother |
TV/Movies › Re: What I Think After Watching "A Tribe Called Judah" by Scholace: 6:28pm On Jan 21, 2024 |
Printme: The movie was cool. A Nollywood movie I actually enjoyed in a long while.
At the same time, I think it reflects on a very key aspect of life that most people never give much thoughts to.
That is, a male child will always need their father.
Regardless of how much a woman will love the male child, they will always need their father to be good influences in the society.
She gave birth to five children and all their fathers were absent. It's a lesson for women. Once you spoil your life, men will continue to chop and go.
No man will ever want to settle and train another man's child.
It doesn't matter how much you try to manipulate them with the "it's a mistake" or "a real man ought to take care of another man's child"
It won't work. They will just chop you and go and probably add their own seeds since you want to be unfortunate that way.
Also, statistics shows that male children raised by single mothers tends to be the "bad eggs" in the society.
And we all saw that in the movie. Not even one of the children turned out fine for the society. Instead, they were filled with that selfish love that put only their needs into consideration and never the needs of others.
And that's the kind of love women can give their children. Only a father's disciplinary love tells the child that other's needs are important.
It is the father that seeks to make sure the male child, no matter how strong he is, he never used that strength for his own benefits alone.
If she had thought the children to protect others and not just herself, they probably would have turned out fine.
Overall, I think the movie was entertaining but the lessons were still there except you choose to ignore it. The inmates in all our correctional centres are they all raised by single mothers? The level of cyber fraudsters amongst our youths and prostitution, are they also raised by single mothers? The rapist, ritualist, kidnappers, pedophile, bandits etc are they all raised by single mothers? I can always go on and on |
