Russia is ready to persuade the Syrian government to agree to a UN proposal to escort rebel fighters out of Aleppo, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Russian state media.

Russia's lower house of parliament ratified on Friday an agreement with Syria that authorizes the deployment of a Russian air group at the Hmeimim airbase for an indefinite period of time.

The Hmeymim airbase agreement was signed in Damascus on August 26, 2015, and was submitted to the State Duma for ratification in the beginning of August, 2016. The document was approved by 446 State Duma lawmakers.

A Russian airforce group has been deployed to the Syrian Arab Republic following a request from Damascus. The airforce group is located on the Hmeymim airfield in Latakia. Moscow will use the base 'free-of-charge' and will carry out supplies of necessary equipment and ammunition to the base without customs or any other duties, the memorandum says. "The operation of the air group is conducted in line with its commander's decisions based on the plan approved by both sides," the document says. Russia began its air campaign against Daesh in Syria on September 30, 2015, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The new phase of strengthening of the air-defense capabilities of Moscow’s military grouping comes amid the increased US-Russian tensions over the ongoing conflict.

On October 3, Washington suspended bilateral contacts with Moscow over the crisis and, de-facto, withdrew from the peace process in Syria. There is “nothing more for the US and Russia to talk about”, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters. The so-called American Plan B on Syria suggests a heavy-handed scenario. It was developed by the US military departments in a secret from the White House, the Izvestiya newspaper reported on Friday, citing a source in diplomatic circles.

According to the source, the Plan B was developed by the US security agencies for a case of failure of the efforts of the US Department of State. It involves intensification of airstrikes by the US-led international coalition, sending of the additional Special Forces, and increase in the supply of arms to the so-called ‘moderate’ opposition. It is supposed to depose the leadership in Damascus with the help of ‘moderate’ militants. The source noted that the US Department of State was not involved in the development of an alternative military strategy on Syria.

As the source said, now the ‘spare’ plan goes on the agenda due to the offensive, launched against positions of militants in Aleppo, which came as a surprise for supporters of the military solution of the Syrian crisis.

“Return of control over the city by the government forces is inadmissible for them, and for this reason the security forces seek every opportunity to prevent it,” the source said.
The interlocutor of Izvestiya also stressed that Russian representatives, involved in the consultations in Geneva, have noted an existence of contradictions between the US Department of State and the US security ministries. In particular, despite the agreement on disclosure of data on location of Syrian terrorist groups, reached by the Russian and US diplomats, the Pentagon has refused to submit relevant information to the Russian side.

As First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee on Defense and Security, Franz Klintsevich told to the newspaper, Americans test Russian strength and may go for military actions, similar to the one that has been conducted in the area of Deir ez-Zor recently. At the same time he expressed the hope that this situation will not lead to a direct confrontation between Russian and US military.

Since I might be asked about that, I might as well share my opinion about the debate tonight. Frankly? I was absolutely horrified. I had expected Trump to completely slaughter Hillary, but what happened tonight was the exact opposite. My son put it best “it looked like a kindergartner trying to argue with a college professor“.
Hillary knew all the tricks, she was superbly prepared and she truly is a world-class liar. Oh, and she also looked healthy and in control (so much for the Hillary is sick and cannot control her temper theory; when she wants, she clearly can).

Trump looked completely outclassed, he spent most of the time on defensive (Hillary attacked him almost immediately). Worst of all, not only did he called her “Secretary Clinton” while she called him “Donald”, but he regularly uttered “here I partially/generally agree with Secretary Clinton” whereas she, of course, never agreed on anything. If the ability to lie, to frame a question and to use ugly ad hominems are the weapons of politics, then Hillary totally out-gunned Trump.

Trump was mostly passive and constantly on the defense. He also repeated himself so many times his one-liners soon turned boring and stale. In contrast, Hillary easily eluded each one of his attack and always had a comeback ready. Finally and predictably, the moderator was clearly hostile to Trump, as was the crowd which resulted in several “you are no Kennedy, Senator” moments.

The moment when Trump agreed to the obscene notion of people which have been put on the “do not fly” list also being denied their 2nd Amendment rights probably lost him all the libertarian votes. As for the progressive vote, he probably lost it when he brazenly admitted using US bankruptcy laws to protect his business interests. His constant attacks against Iran and his reference to Bibi Netanyahu certainly proves his clumsy (and futile!) attempts at appeasing the Israel Lobby. And when Hillary brilliantly hammered him with the accusation that racism made him question Obama’s birth certificate, Trump found nothing better to retort than to say that he was proud that a club he created in Palm Beach was commended for not discriminating against “against African-Americans, against Muslims, against anybody”. This was actually painful to watch.

Sheikh Imran Hosein likes to quote the following words from the Quran “But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners“. Well, I sure hope that God has a plan to save us from a Hillary Presidency because right now it sure looks to me like only Divine intervention can protect the world from this demonic harpy and her coterie of Neocons from occupying the White House next year.
