Even if the entire fleet was in the South China Sea, he said, he would still face questions about whether Washington was deploying more forces to the region.

"It's this sense of angst that I hear from those in the region, driven by the uncertainty and the rhetoric and, you know, the challenges that the region is facing right now," Swift said. "But I'm very comfortable with the resources I have."

China claims nearly all the South China Sea, through which an estimated $5 trillion in trade passed every year. However, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam all have overlapping claims in the area.

As China has asserted its sovereignty in the region through land reclamation projects, its neighbors have increased their defense spending and looked toward Washington for reassurance.

This is certainly what the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Abadi intends to see happen, recently vowing that "2016 will be the year of the big and final victory, when Daesh's presence in Iraq will be terminated."

Unfortunately, Preble notes, "if you listen closely, however, you might notice a tinge of disappointment among some here in Washington."

"Few will be as blunt as James Poulos in The Week, who focused on 'The Bad News about ISIS's Defeat in Ramadi,' but the Iraqi government's apparent success challenges some of the hawks' most deeply held beliefs about US foreign policy."

The heart of the matter, the journalist argues, is that US interventionists' "worldview hinges on the argument that Iraqis and others in the region can't be trusted to take ownership of their security. Thus, the need for more US troops in both Iraq and Syria. According to some, many more US troops are required." Now, "the Iraqi government's clear progress over the past few months seriously challenges the claim that the US military is the only force capable of containing and ultimately defeating [Daesh]."


America's presence in Iraq, ostensibly aimed at ensuring security, hasn't been without an element of coercion, the journalist admits. Moreover, "unsurprisingly, relations between Washington and Baghdad have been consistently rocky," from US pressures to restructure the country's political system and the economy, to Washington's vain and unconvincing attempts to promote a Sunni-Shia reconciliation, to its effort to secure an agreement allowing US troops to remain in the country after 2011.
"The pattern of resistance, confrontation and defiance," Preble suggests, "calls into question the many claims that an extended US military presence would have altered Iraqi politics and forestalled the rise of [Daesh] in the first place."

Therefore, the journalist suggests, "it's well past time" for Iraq to prove that it is capable of defending itself. Moreover, "officials in the Obama administration, much as they might like to push back against their many critics, should not make this out as an American victory. While US support helped, it is the Iraqis who deserve the credit for the hard fighting on the ground. A US plot to evacuate Daesh leaders from the strategic city of Ramadi in central Iraq has reportedly been disclosed by a volunteer forces commander.


An Iraqi volunteer forces commander has revealed US plans to evacuate Daesh (ISIL/ISIS) leaders from the central Iraqi city of Ramadi, according to the Iranian news agency FARS.
The disclosure comes as the Iraqi army and popular troops are attempting to secure victory over the jihadist group in Ramadi.

FARS quoted Imam Khamenei Battalion Commander Haidar al-Hosseini al-Ardavi as saying that "the delay in operations to liberate the cities of Ramadi and Fallujah in Anbar province has been the result of US interference."

On Wednesday, it was reported that the Iraqi troops had managed to make significant advances in Ramadi after they reached the Tigris River and started entering the city center after crossing the al-Khor Bridge.
In another development, the army's special forces attacked Daesh hideouts in the al-Zubat neighborhood of the city, and started liberating government buildings in the al-Hoz district of Ramadi.

Earlier this week, Iraqi Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Othman al-Ghanimi said his troops needed only days to completely drive Daesh out of Ramadi, which has been under Daesh control since May 2015.

The Iraqi forces have successfully liberated the last ISIS stronghold in the city. The Iraqi forceshave taken control of the last stronghold of ISIS in the town of Ramadi. As per the representative of the forces Sabah al-Numani, the following step is to guarantee that there are no fighters left in the town.

A monkey has saved the life of another monkey that had fallen oblivious subsequent to being electrocuted in northern Indian town of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The occurrence took place at the Kanpur railroad station. The monkey was shocked and fell on the railroad tracks unconscious while strolling on the high pressure wires at the station. A kindred monkey recognized the poor primate and works hard for nearly 20 minutes to resuscitate it.

The monkey attempted to resuscitate its injured companion by over and over gnawing, hitting and tipping it in the water. Its endeavors at last paid dividends and the injured creature could walk away from the railroad tracks.
