Either On-grid or off-grid solar inverter electricity is not the solution to the power problem we have in Nigeria, Solar has some limitations and it depends on sunlight, Solar power is suppose to be a backup and not a main source of power, How will you power your AC, HEATER, FREEZERS at NIGHT when there is no sunlight or Rainy days. If you run these heavy loads on heavy duty inverter and battery backup, I bet you, your battery will not last 6month lifespan.
Just like someone said why is it that our leaders are using MANTRAC, MIKANO etc. The reason is because of its limitations.

The national grid has suffered another system collapse, worsening the blackout being experienced in parts of the country. The collapse, which occurred around 11.00 am on Wednesday, was confirmed by two of the country’s electricity distribution companies in separate messages to their customers. “We regret to inform you that the power outage currently being experienced across our franchise – Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States – is as a result of the collapse of the national grid,” Kaduna Electric said on Twitter. Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc, in a text message to its customers, said, “Dear customer, there is a partial system collapse on the national grid. Our TCN partners are working to restore supply immediately. Please bear with us.”

The grid, which is being managed by government-owned Transmission Company of Nigeria, has continued to suffer system collapse over the years amid a lack of spinning reserve that is meant to forestall such occurrences.

Spinning reserve is the generation capacity that is online but unloaded and that can respond within 10 minutes to compensate for generation or transmission outages.

Ghana’s independent power producers are running up debts for fuel deliveries as they wait for the distribution utility to pay $1.5 billion in arrears.
The 14 members of the Chamber of Independent Power Producers, Distribution Companies and Bulk Consumers owe gas suppliers more than $400 million, Elikplim Apetorgbor, the lobby’s chief executive officer, said by phone on Tuesday. The debts are mostly due to the state-run Ghana National Gas Co. and the West African Gas Pipeline Co., which transports the fuel from Nigeria.

The power producers are able to continue with operations only because the gas suppliers haven’t yet suspended deliveries, said Apetorgbor. “If they decide that I’m going to cut off gas supply to you, there’s nothing you can do,” he said.

State-owned distribution utility Electricity Co. of Ghana Ltd.’s indebtedness to power producers is totaling $1.5 billion, Apetorgbor said. The chamber’s members deliver about 1,500 megawatts to Ghana’s total peak demand of about 2,700 megawatts.
“For the sector to be out of its challenge, there needs to be prompt payment,” said Apetorgbor.

Losses in the energy sector are contributing to the Ghana nation’s rise in public debt, which the International Monetary Fund estimated will reach 63% of gross domestic product by December, from 58% the year before. Net arrears in the sector amounted to 14 billion cedis ($2.5 billion) at the end of January while excess supplies of power and gas will add about $1 billion to Ghana’s liabilities in 2020, according to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

A strategy to put the operations of ECG under private control was abandoned earlier this month when the government terminated an agreement with Power Distribution Services Ltd. for the management of the distribution network, less than eight months after the plan was first implemented.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that most young people used by Boko Haram to commit mass murder and destruction of public structure, are also victims of their own crimes.

The vice president said this Tuesday while delivering a speech during the opening of the Northeast Humanitarian Multi Stakeholders Engagement meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He said many young people conscripted by Boko Haram to either kill or act as suicide bombers deserve the sympathy of the public because they were probably forced to become terrorists under circumstances beyond their control.

The Multi-Stakeholders engagement is organized by the office of the Vice President in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) as a prelude to implementing the multibillion naira Presidential Initiative for Northeast-Nigeria (PINE).

PINE will be spending a total of N213 billion on the short term and long term rebuilding and development of the Boko Haram ravaged northeast Nigeria in five years.

Mr. Osinbajo argued that while the Federal Government pursues its counter terrorism and de-radicalization efforts in the northeast Nigeria, such young Boko Haram members as well those who are likely to buy the Boko Haram ideology must be presented with counter narratives that could alter their ill-imbibed terror ideology.

“The first thing to understand is that there are lot of these young people who have been drawn into terrorists activities who are themselves victims. Clearly, any one of their age who will kill and maim innocent people have obviously imbibed something that is destructive,” he told journalists.

“And our position as a government is that there is a need to de-radicalize many of these young people who are involved in terrorists activities; there is a need to present counter narratives to many of them who have bought into Boko Haram believes and ideas.

“And that counter narratives is one that we are trying to propagate; and people must understand that it goes beyond what they see; killing of people is not only wrong but ungodly. And there is no moral or legitimate excuse to do what they are doing. That is why there is the need to de-radicalize and offer counter narratives.

I learnt that if a person had stayed in a particular state in Nigeria for about a decade, such an individual is eligible to obtain a citizenship certificate in any Local Government Areas of his choice, especially when he's trying to secure an employment with the state government and there's no provision for applicants who are non indigens.

I'm fully aware of the fact that there are various types of citizenship (by birth, marriage, naturalization etc.), is this not a clear case of IMPERSONATION to obtain a citizenship by birth certificate when he was not born and brought up there? Can such an IMPOSTOR be arrested and prosecuted?

After going through all the comments i discover that your intentionally want to commit a crime and will turn back to cry that the people are wicked when the ship turn against you. If you are not an Igbo don't try it in Igbo land because they have a way to identify son of the soil when the needs arise, the same with some section of Yoruba, is only at northern side you can see name as, Ibrahim Dan Rano, Alhaji Tambulawa, Usman Dan Gombe, from the name you see they can clarify how they become indigence of that place by using a town name as surname and the indigence accept that. I learnt that if a person had stayed in a particular state in Nigeria for about a decade, such an individual is eligible to obtain a citizenship certificate in any Local Government Areas of his choice, especially when he's trying to secure an employment with the state government and there's no provision for applicants who are non indigens.

I'm fully aware of the fact that there are various types of citizenship (by birth, marriage, naturalization etc.), is this not clear case of IMPERSONATION to obtain a citizenship by birth certificate when he was not born and brought up there? Can such an IMPOSTOR be arrested and prosecuted?

Electric car manufacturing is not a job creation sector as there's not much work to do at the company. If authority is in my hand, to use an electric car should be by choice not by force. because it is difficult for electric cars to travel 700 miles without charging for 8 to 10 hours, so how can we travel in Nigeria. everybody cannot afford the flight fee.

What about ICU vehicle engine spare parts sellers, electric cars don't have any spare parts to change, comparing electric cars and ICU engine vehicles is like comparing Microsoft with a typewriter machine. We have seen how typewriters die.

As i said, Nigeria oil booming did not benefit me in any way, not even free primary education, i have never benefited anything for being a Nigeria citizen, not even security, But that cannot stop me from caring for masses that will lose their job if the government follow Ben bruce advice to ban ICU cars.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has called out those calling for Nigeria to break up while warning that if the country does break, they may need visas to travel to places like Kano.
