I quite agree with you that it may be a ploy to stretch Hezbollah. They gave the IDF a good fight in 2006. The IDF also failed to achieve its set objectives at the start of the war leading to several Israeli war veterans to question the strategies, morale and equipment. I see Russia being dragged into it as well. If it escalates further, we may see a rapid rise in oil price worldwide cos it will affect supplies from the middle east.
Far from the economic and financial gains that may accrue to us as a country, the middle east may be set for a long drawn out war that could last for a decade if you factor in the growing powers of shia Iran in places like Iraq and yemen.
