The kurds were already given limited autonomy in Syria. The US is only using them as a pawn to achieve the breakup of Syria cos they can't put troops into Syria. The Russian involvement and cooperation with them is to ensure they work within the framework of securing Syria's territorial integrity while maintaining kurdish autonomy. The SDF heading for Raqqa also have many local arabs fighting alongside the kurds.
