Politics / Re: Today Is The 79th Birthday Of Yakubu Gowon. What Do You Remember Him Of ? by seanet01: 5:58pm On Oct 19, 2013
emiye:

i think the youthful exuberance fits ojukwu the most.

Ojukwu was a 29 year old boy, who failed to plan by making attempts to secede, when he was not prepared for the repercussion.

Gowon was more sensible to allow Awolowo dictate the pace of the war, and allow the war come to an end in the shortest of time. That war could have lasted for over a decade, if it was purely Gowon vs Ojukwu, the two were not fully matured.
I wonder o. This people who have been brainwashed by the village story tellers will not stop spinning their lie here

Yoruba people were at the vanguard of the movement that led to the imprisonment of Tafa Balogun, Sunday Afolabi and a other that has been jailed for corruption offences.
The likes of Femi Falana, Wole Soyinka and other Yorubas have always been against Obasanjo and rates him as a failure.

It is a pity Nigerians especially our Niger Delta people will not rise above tribal affiliations on issues that affect their Prosperity.
People like Edwin Clarks, Fasheun, and Co knew deep inside them that this is another macabre dance

Politics / Jonathan's National Conference.. Fictions, Fallacies And Realities by seanet01: 7:54am On Oct 16, 2013
I know this will definitely lead to me being called another hater but surely my conscience is clear and precise.

I hope people will be able to see through the Fallacies and Realities of the National Conference being hurled around the market by Jonathan and His henchmen.

National conference as being proposed by Jonathan is being organized by his administration in order for Nigerian people to talk about the many problems battling the nation.

I have waited patiently enough for the modalities on which the national conference will be organized and conducted to be submitted to the Presidency by The Senator Okorounmu led committee set up to work out the modalities of the National Conference.

However, the President made a statement yesterday which have already summarize the end of any deliberation and decision taken at the national Conference.
The President categorically and emphatically stated that The outcome of the proposed National Conference will be SUBJECT TO RATIFICATION BY THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

With this declaration the President has made it clear to all and sundry that the National Conference will not be Sovereign.

This translates to the decisions of the National conference not being binding and legal without the ratification of the National Assembly

I will be analyzing some issues which i think sane and proper minds will be able to discern.

The Modalities should not be an issue at least for now that the President has stated that the National Assembly conference will ratify the outcome of the conference.

There are many decisions that will be taken at the Conference that will not be acceptable to some parts of Nation (Probably the political Elites at least)

How is the President going to ensure that the decisions taken at the National conference will scale through ratification at the National Assembly?

How is the Northern Dominated National Assembly going to ratify a National Conference which may have taken decisions like 50% |Derivation principle, State police, true Federalism and other issues that the Northern leaders are viewing (Albeit myopically) as threats to the survival of their region?

Is there going to be a time frame withing which the National Assembly must act on the Conference Outcome so as not to waste unnecessary time and avoid feet dragging?

What if the Northern Dominated National Assembly eventually defeat the efforts of the National Conference by voting against issues like Derivation, true federalism and other important issues?

Are we going to set up another National Conference if the National Assembly rejects the National conference decisions?

People should please put tribal and party affiliations aside and reason like a sane mind.

Any National Conference that is not Sovereign is bound to Fail.

The Inability Of President Goodluck Jonathan To Convince The Northern Dominated National Assembly To Sign The PIB Bill Is An Eye opener. Nigerian Please Sharpen Up

Jonathan though did this with good intention is very wrong.
AU should have pulled out.
No matter what Jonathan says, No matter what African leaders eventually do,
Whites will always try to take advantage of we Blacks.
Pull out now.
The worst criminals in the world, George Bush and Tony Blair are still waking free,
why should the ICC be only interested in African leaders.
Withdraw now

stewie100: on my time on this website reading so many silly comments, tribalism and ignorance on this forum from mostly Homebased Nigerians i have almost lost my sanity and sense of civility .
i think its high time for us to separate the chaffs from the grain ,i hereby request to the owner of this website MR SEUN to create another exclusive section on nairaland for civilized, intelligent Nigerians (diasporans) to have a more civil experience on this forum.

a separation of chaffs from grains ,we need a bridge and a civilized gated community.and we need a nairaland prison for tresspassers
This is inborn foo..lishness
Who told you Home based Nigerians are silly?
You need to remove that myopic impression from your head.
There are so many Nigerian here in Milton K that are more stvpid than those at home.

AjanleKoko:

This is a bit partisan. I visit Ogun State on a regular basis. Some work is being done, but nothing ground-breaking. Hardly enough to qualify Amosun as being better than Gbenga Daniel in his first term. My frank opinion.
maybe you have been visiting only your village regularly.
You said Amosun is not faring better than OGD's first term abi?
That is utter nonsense and arrant rubbish. Can you please list the performance of Ogd in his first term any sphere and let me list those of Amosun?
Amosun's performance in two years has already dwarfed ogd 8 years. Waiting for you to take up my challenge

You should be directing your anger towards the real enemy which are the leaders that are using this strategy to distract us while they steal trillions from under our nose!
