Politics / Re: I’m Interested In Better Nigeria – Peter Obi Clears Air On Running With El-rufai by seborrhic: 8:38pm On Apr 07
Rexymania:
Peter Obi is really playing his cards well
One thing he is doing right is not being an election politician, like Atiku appears.
Atiku only becomes active during electioneering season.Obi is building bridges across Nigeria and being active.
He maynot win those Northern states, but come election time he would do better than he did last year because more people now know him, more people now appreciate him and starting to believe he has genuine interest in a better Nigeria.
Political calculation wise,Obi too is doing the right things:he knows the North was his hercules heel and is trying to make inroads there.

How could Palmcredit withdraw money from your account if you didn't give them access in the first place.
Sometimes you people imagine you are talking to kids or what.
Open up with the full story.
No organisation can have access to your account to be withdrawing funds without being granted access.
If it occurs without your authorisation, which u have to prove, then it becomes fraud and you should report the bank to CBN for allowing such criminal withdrawal, though you have to prove it

Your state of mind has been messed up.
You have a mental health, rather than a physical disease based on your description of the symptoms you are having and the absence of any issue from the series of tests you said you have done.
Seek a psychologist, that's the mental health professional that can help you

Yeah, indeed it was Nassarawa. Thanks for the correction.
Googled it now and now read a whopping 65 security officers were confirmed murdered!
55 police and 10 DSS officers, yet there was a painstaking hunt for the killers.Eventhough everyone knows the villagers would have deserted the village, but the security agents didn't go on burning down the entire village and killing innocent civilians because they knew the culprits and went after them, including the original herbalist they came for.

Arsenal 3 Brighton 1
You don't even know who is at home.
Hope you don't end up crying.
Arsenal on paper would beat Brighton, but there is something about this feature (Brighton unbeaten at home, and coming at that time of the season when Arsenal start losing their nerves),that should give every Gunner fan cause for concern.
With Man City in thier usual late surge,if Arsenal don't navigate this tricky feature,it's over for them again this year.
This match could end in a bitter draw for Arsenal
Politics / Re: Labour Threatens Showdown As FG Insists On Electricity Tariff Hike by seborrhic: 4:10pm On Apr 06
Well scripted game.
Goverment increases it by a stupendous 300%,watches and expects reaction from labour or affected entities, calls labour for negotiation, money changes hands, both sides then accept a new tariff of around 150-180 instead of 225 for band A.
The goverment now also says and labour too agrees that smaller percentage increases across all bands would take place.
Labour accepts,Nigerians across all bands wake up to new prices across board, ranging from 25% to 100% and everyone carries on as businesss as usual.
Meanwhile labour claims victory, while their executives have their bank accounts boosted and goverment gets what it originally intended even before the deceptive band A only exorbitant increase

Does iran think an attack on isreal will go unanswered?
Men have been known to do more foolish things down the years.
See Iran that Israel has been waiting down the years to destroy it's nuclear program so that they don't reach the stage of having enriched uranium to build a nuclear bomb, now wanting to give Israel the legitimate excuse it needs.
Iran is so foolish it hasn't asked itself why the likes of Saudi Arabia,Jordan, Egypt, Algeria and Syria have not bothered to enter the conflict.
Everyone knows Isreal has gone overboard with its handling of the retaliation against Hamas in Gaza, but there would be a quick reversal of support back to Israel if Iran enters the conflict.
Yes,Israel needs US military support but people like Iran seem to forget that Israel is quite capable on its own to not only defend, but attack any Arab nation that threatens its existence.

Lives of civilians of Okuama, both the ones killed and those still alive but not living don't seem to matter.
Behind the outcry over the deaths of the soldiers,no one seem to be asking why the goverment has not instituted a committee to actually investigate the real cause and truth of the whole sordid affair.
Yes,the killers should be brought to justice, but at least have the true picture of the circumstances that led to the situation everyone now find themselves.
I remember during the time of GEJ,several DSS officers were ambushed as they were on their way to apprehend a famed herbalist in one community in Benue State.
The whole village wasn't sacked by the DSS and after several months I think, the man was eventually arrested or even killed along with those that did those DSS killings either killed or arrested.

Everyone knows the Israelis have gone overboard with their response, but why has no Arab country or Muslim also call out Hamas fo it's unprovoked and unprecedented murder of several Israeli and foreign citizens?
They should enlist in Hamas and go and fight Israel if they feel so pissed about the whole situation.

You know that the story you wrote is a lie.

I am talking A,you are talking B.
Politics / Re: Are You Willing To Pay N178,000 Monthly For A 24-hour Electricity Supply? by seborrhic: 9:24pm On Apr 03
socialmediaman:
The Tinubu government has just increased electricity cost for band A customers to N225 per KPH.

For context, customers in the US pay about the same cost per KPH (or cheaper) depending on the state you live in.

Energy analysts are explaining that Nigerians are willing to pay more if they have access to electricity.

Based on data from NerdWallet, the average monthly electricity cost in the US is about $137 which is about N178,000.

Are you willing to pay N178,000 monthly for electricity for a 24-hour supply?
Years ago when this epileptic power supply became an the norm,on the radio stations, many Nigerians were calling saying "Nigerians would pay,let them just give us constant power, nothing is moving in Nigeria because there is no regular power,Nigerians will pay".I was just laughing,in my mind these are clowns.
Just a few years or months later power improved, then tariffs went up.The same calibre of people started lamenting,"the bill is too much".
I then became angry because I knew that anyone saying Nigerians would pay any amount for regular power is either a child or mentally challenged.
Tariff should be affordable.
The most capitalist Nation in the world, the US,even there minimum wage earners can afford to pay tariff, even if it's 24,they just have to regulate their use when they are out.
Here even the fabled middle class would soon find it difficult to pay for power.
Imagine spending almost 200k a month just for electricity. Is that not madness!

The way people on all sides of the Nigerian divide lie with full chest, particularly on nairaland,is astounding.

Politics / Re: Gunmen Kidnap Scores Of Students In Delta State by seborrhic: 12:21am On Apr 02
Sorry to sound like this in these troubling times for the parents, but I am suspecting that one amongst those students or someone close to those students they informed about their itinerary maybe the informant.
How else can it be explained that the bandits got to know when these students would be returning back and where to wait without fear of confrontation by security agents?
There definitely was some foreknowledge and planning involved to abduct that number of students.
Kidnapping is now a business venture,so many people, even those close to you that one may feel can't harm one or go to that extent may be involved, even if not directly.

exactly, South Korea is still exporting Samsung and other electronics to us with their "bad" currency yet if this government had their way, they will lose 50 million dollars a month to bring the rate to 700 Naira so that agbado people will be celebrating meanwhile factories are closing down, food crisis is till an issue, no jobs, insecurity yakpa. Who are we fooling.
You are an illiterate.
Factories are closing down because the cost of production is very high.
What is the cause of this very high production cost? The dollar because with naira depreciating massively the cost of inputs, even the ones sourced locally have gone through the roof.
Electricity companies, logistics companies all have increased prices due to the dollar issue because those other items or services they use are indirectly affected by dollar cost.
Even the local farmer in Nigeria has to increase prices because when he/she goes to the market cost of other stuff have increased.
Illiterates with illusions of being smart.
Politics / Re: The Truth About CBN Control Of Spiking Dollar FX Rate by seborrhic: 6:48pm On Apr 01
So in other words, the goverment should fold it's hands and let speculators determine the exchange rate?
Everyone is shouting production.
When GEJ some ill informed are now routing as a better manager(I actually believe he is far better with a better team than Tinubu) had ₦ at 200-300,was there priduction.
No country, even the US with it's 100% capitalist economy allows their country to be determined by speculators.
If for example Elon Musk with his war chest of at least $100b in cash decides to go on a buying spree of the $ in order to hold and hoard it or even to allow other speculators to have a free reign, the US treasury, secret service,FBI will go after him because his speculator activities is distorting the market

Cost of maintenance shouldn't even come into the question.
Having that number of presidential jets in a country where the minimum wage is $20/month does not only not make any sense, but is comical to say the least.
Infact, assuming Nigeria was a very serious country,we would know that our economy and present state of affairs demands that the Nigeria only fly commercial airlines Economy class with as few aides as is possible.

Usefulsense:

I sent my wife here in December 2021.
The original plan was for the family to move together but on a second thought I said no.

She worked really hard and I supported her the much I can from Nigeria.

It was much easier for me because I had my partner here already.
Ok.
Makes more sense.
You didn't state all these in your first post, not until posters started digging some holes and doubting some aspects of the story.
The way you initially made it sound, you entered Australia late Dec and in 3 months you already had shelter, had time to take several artisan courses, your kids already in school, then aside from working, you already saving.
It's always important to lay out the whole picture,so that aside from not creating doubts in some people as to the authenticity of a story,it would not also make some other people with intent of travelling to feel it was the straightforward, almost magical way you made it sound

That is why I believe the toxicology was ordered done abroad,at least we believe the Whiteman die and no one would accuse an oyibo lab of doctoring or tainting the result to suit certain interests.

Nauseating pieces of shi t.
When PMB surrounded himself with Northerners and openly avowed that he won't even consider giving any major appointment to the 5 percenters, did any other region aside the SE raise any eyebrow?
Now because Tinubu is following the same parochial template, imps that kept quiet and even applauded PMB are disturbing our peace.
Who amongst the clannish northern appointees PMB made, were competent? They should name one single competent northerner he appointed, right down to the senate President whose nomination he championed.
That is one of the main reasons I didn't even want Atiku to succeed PMB.
Despite any pretences to being a nationalist, once Atiku gets into office he would have largely consolidated the Northern grip on the government, ministries and parastatals.
Tinubu should fire on
