The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has condemned some lecturers in the university who have resorted to giving students scripts to write exams at homes, hotels, and relaxation places in exchange for money. 

In a memorandum revealed on Social Media by [url][/url] dated Tuesday, August 10, 2021, and signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Michael Peter Okom, the university management decried what it described as “obnoxious and abhorrent” acts of sorting, extortions, and sexual harassment going on in the institution. 

The school warned those involved in the despicable act to desist from it, adding that they would soon be invited to face a disciplinary committee.

A young student has proved his innovative ability as he used ‘Pure Water Nylon’ Wastes to create a ‘Dustbin Container’.

It was said that the boy’s motive was to ensure the environment is not messed up and to rid it of sachet water wastes

Many people were impressed with his work and most are willing to purchase from him and even invest.

Student of St Thomas High School Impresses many as post of him with a Dustbin from Empty Sachets goes viral.

The name of this talented pupil of St Thomas Junior High School in Fiapre-Sunyani, Ghana was not disclosed.

The post currently has over 500 likes with 1300 shares and 83 comments.

Going through the comments, it appeared that social media users were very impressed with the young man’s work and a number of them were willing to purchase some for themselves.

The motive that it is a sustainable way of managing the excess water sachets waste problems in the country made people buy into the idea of doing more of this.

Nigerians has since reacted to the viral photo, as many think the money is "embarrasing" and not worth taking.

A Nigerian lady identified as Paris Oma has taken to social media to reveal what her male friend made her do for urgent two thousand.

According to Oma, via her Facebook page shared by [url][/url], she had reached out to her bestie needing an urgent 2k, which he turned her down, revealing he doesn’t have it.

Oma added that when she insisted that he looked for the money for her, her male friend, asked her to come down to the site where he made her work for an hour before giving her the money she had asked for.

Sharing photos of her working on a construction site, she wrote;

‘I asked my male bestie to find me something (money). He told me he doesn’t have it and i insisted he must so he told me to come to his working place so he could give me. I never knew he had the plan to give me a shovel to work. I work for 1hr and he gave me 2k. I nearly fainted. Omor e no easy oh.’

A final year Accounting student of the Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK), Ezekiel Kuje (Abiola) has died six days after his signing-out celebration.

Kuje, 27, reportedly died as a result of injuries sustained from motor accident which occurred on Saturday, August 7.

The deceased was a native of Alushi, a multi-ethnic community in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.

He was born on June 12, and named in honor of late MKO Abiola.

On August 2, the deceased had taken to Facebook to share photos of himself and course mates during their signing-out celebration, as revealed by [url][/url]

“I return all the praise, honour, adoration & glory to God Almighty who have set my part throughout my academics. I appreciate my family, friends & all those who stood by me. The planned sit-at-home ordered by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) scheduled to have commenced today (Monday) has been suspended due to the just began National Examination Council (NECO) Exam for junior secondary schools.

A new date for the commencement of the sit-at-home order, IPOB said would be announced later.

The pro Biafra group had penultimate week, in what appeared to be in solidarity with it’s detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, ordered for sit-at-home that would be observed every Monday throughout Igbo land, starting from August 9, until when his trial would end.

However, in a statement the IPOB leader’s younger brother, Kanunta Kanu said the group arrived at the decision, after listening to pleas from well meaning individuals and groups within and outside Biafra land that the order be suspended to allow students from Igbo land to participate in the NECO Exam.

“IPOB has listened to pleas from well-meaning individuals and groups within and outside Biafra land that we consider the fate of our children who will be involved in the NECO Exam and based on that, we decided to shift grounds over the sit-at-home order”.

The statement added that IPOB on its part, having realized the academic deprivation the already marginalized Biafra students who entered for this year’s NECO would suffer, decided to suspend the sit-at-home order to a later date, to allow the students take their exams.

Kanu equally made it clear that allowing the sit-at-home to go ahead as earlier announced, in the face of the NECO Exam would amount to assisting enemies of Biafra to inflict more injuries on her children.

“As a group fighting for the liberation of her people from oppression from her enemies, we realized that it would amount to assisting the said enemies to inflict more harm on our children if we do not suspend the sit-at-home order to allow Biafra students take their exams”.

While making it clear to [url][/url] the sit-at-home order has not been cancelled, but only suspended for the sake of Biafra students taking this year’s NECO Exam, the statement called on all IPOB global family members and Biafrans at large to await further directives in this regard.

A Nigerian man, Ramsey Aka who was told during his final year clearance that his admission at Abia State University was invalid after spending 4 years to study Mass Communication decided to repeat 4 years.

After 8 years of study, he emerged the Best Graduating Student of his department (2017/2018).

According to Ramsey, this happened in 2014. He had to enroll again, paid school fees for another 4 years and graduated for the second time in 2018.

He has since served and is currently working with a reputable broadcast media organization at Abuja.

According to [url][/url], he had written to the school’s senate and also mailed the school management severally in 2014 when it happened but nothing was forthcoming so he decided to enroll again while awaiting school’s verdict.

The school (Abia State University) reportedly never replied him till he graduated again in 2018.

A gynaecologist has urged women not to remove their pubic hair.

Dr Jen Gunter, author of The Vagina Bible, warned against waxing or shaving because it can cause “microscopic trauma” that can lead to infections.

While the purpose of pubic hair is somewhat of a mystery, going “au naturel” is necessary to protect the skin by acting as a barrier against the outside world.

Getting a Brazilian may also reduce sexual pleasure, with pubic hair being connected to nerve endings that might help arousal, Dr Gunter added.

Pubic hair “grooming” has almost become the norm, with many blaming the porn industry.

Scientists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), asked more than 3,300 women about their downstairs grooming.

Of which, 83.8% claimed to wax, shave or epilate their pubic hair, with just 16.2% leaving it intact.

“Hygiene” was the most commonly reported reason (59%) for women removing their hair.

But Dr Gunter warns waxing, shaving or “sugaring” – mixing sugar, lemon juice and water to create a wax-like gel – may do more harm than good.

“You are causing microscopic trauma to the skin,” she told the BBC.

The gynaecologist added she sees women with cuts, grazes and even infections when hair removal goes awry.

“Pubic hair has a function, it is probably a mechanical barrier and protection for the skin,” she said.

“It may also have a role in sexual functioning because each pubic hair is attached to a nerve ending, that’s why it hurts to remove it.”

Why do we have pubic hair?

The role of pubic hair is not fully understood.

Most experts think it is involved in the release of pheromones, chemicals that trigger arousal.

Pheromones are thought to be “get trapped in pubic hair when glands release an odourless secretion on the skin that combines with bacteria decomposed by the secretion of (other) glands”, an expert from Columbia University in New York told [url][/url].

This produces a scent that varies from person-to-person.

Some studies suggest women are attracted to pheromones that differ significantly from their own because it suggests genetic diversity, the expert added.

Other theories as to pubic hair’s purpose include warmth or helping the vagina stay “clean”.

“Pubic hair prevents dirt and particles from entering the vagina,” the Columbian scientist reported.

Critics argue, however, if warmth was the reason, men would surely have more hair along their penis and around their scrotum.

The protection theory also falls short because men do not have similar cushioning around the opening of their urethra.

Humans are thought to have removed their hair as far back as prehistoric times.

“Tweezers” made of shells have even been found in ancient caves.

The Egyptians also reportedly associated body hair with uncleanliness.

Removing pubic hair may have some benefits, by protecting against body lice.

The tiny insects live on coarse human hair, like that found around the genitals, according to the NHS.

Body lice spread via skin-to-skin contact, usually sex.

As well as thriving on the genitals, the insects can also set up home on the armpits, legs, chest, abdomen, back, face, and even the eyebrows and eyelashes.

These days, women are less likely to remove their pubic hair out of a fear of lice.

“The increased prevalence of pornography that depicts bare Instruments, popular magazines and television are primary drivers of the trend in the United States,” the UCSF scientists wrote in the journal JAMA Dermatology.

In their study, 875 women (31.5%) claimed they groomed their pubic hair because they felt it “made their genitals more attractive”.

And 586 (21.1%) said it is their “partner’s preference”.

Asked when they would remove their pubic hair, most (55.6%) said before sex.

This was followed by before a holiday (45.7%) and to prepare for a “healthcare professional visit” (40%).

For those who still want to go hair-free “down there”, Dr Gunter urges them to use a clean razor and shave in the direction of the hair.

Going “against the grain” increases the risk of ingrown hairs, which can become infected.

And for those who go for a wax, ensure the technician does not “double dip” the wooden sticks used.

This could spread bacteria between clients, Dr Gunter added.

A final year student who hoped to be graduating with his course mates might have to spend some extra time in school after he missed his last exam.

According to [url][/url], he was arrested by operatives of the special anti-robbery squad, (SARS), a disbanded unit of the Nigeria Police Force, on Wednesday just as he was going for his final papers.

A Twitter user identified as Harrison Mbamara shared the young man’s story on the micro-blogging social network.

The student reportedly spent most part of the day in detention on August 4, unfortunately by the time he was released, the examination had already been concluded.

In a silent protest over his pitiable situation, he explained on his T-Shirt the reason he is unable to graduate. He was meant to wear the shirt for his signing out session.

On the shirt, he wrote; ”I would have graduated today, but State-CID said No!!. Boardman”

On Wednesday, Harrison shared a photo of the final year student wearing the shirt and wrote; ”He is reported to have been taken away by SARS early this morning even as he was supposed to write his last paper today,
