PoliticsWhy We Stopped Negotiating With Kidnappers Of Students – FG by Seeksnigeria(op): 7:00pm On Aug 05, 2021
The Minister of State for Education, Chief Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, who disclosed this to State House correspondents after the federal executive council (FEC) meeting, said the bandits used ransom money from to equip and rearm themselves.

The Federal Government has explained reasons why it stopped negotiations with kidnappers of students.

The minister was responding to a question on what the government was doing over the video that went viral where some of the kidnapped students in Kaduna State were being tortured by kidnappers.

The minister reassured Nigerians that efforts were being made to rescue the children.

According to him, negotiations had to stop because it’s been established that ransom payment was fueling and escalating insecurity in the country.

He said, “Truly speaking, it is disheartening anytime any of our students are taken at any point, I can assure you that the federal government is doing all that it can. We have held several meetings with our security personnel and that whole region.

“Insecurity at the school level, you may understand, stems from insecurity around the area. Before we had Chibok, there was Boko Haram in the area. It is the success of the military more or less, in incapacitating Boko Haram in the northeast, that led to some level of insurgents in the Northwest. And as bandits appeared they started striking randomly at some of our schools from Jengebe, Kangara. You know, everywhere. And the places where they’ve had to go, we’ve pursued them.

“But the containment policy of the military is actually in response to what we also did as the humanitarian element that surrounds it, because the way the military will engage bandits once they have our citizens will not be the same way they will engage them ordinarily. And therefore, they may not just go into the forest shooting at everything or everybody they see

“And that has enabled the bandits use some of our citizens as human shields.

“We are constrained to stop negotiations with bandits because we’ve seen that every time they get any payment, it leads to further escalation, because they reequip and they rearm and then they go back.

“Because if you notice what happened from the kidnap at the College of forestry, in Kaduna, this was prior to the kidnap at the Baptist College and at Usman Polytechnic before they got the university children. Now, there is none of our students that will be held that we’re happy at all. It doesn’t matter which level. One is even too many at any time.

“So yesterday (Tuesday) the military returned with our children that they were able to rescue. We’ve seen the videos you alluded to, and while we cannot attest to their veracity with how authentic there is, it is still concerning, and we are in touch with the military authorities. They are in continuous pursuit of them.

“I was in Katsina to discuss with the detachment that is overseeing that area and all the way to Buni Yadi in Kebbi state where we have some of our children still held. Tigana boys are the ones in Niger state, the Islamia school.

“We are continuously engaging, there is no such thing as federal government not engaging, almost day and night we are engaging. From anywhere that we are in the world we’re trying to engage and I’m just trying to assure Nigerians that as distressing as it is, we are on top of it. And we will keep doing all that we can possibly do to get our children and keep our students safe.”

Asked what measures are in place to ensure that federal government schools are not attacked by bandits, the minister told : “I had already said that the whole of government approaches to security exercise is not just limited to our schools. Yes, the federal government owns a few federal colleges around Nigeria, out of the 25,000 secondary schools, federal government owns only 120 of them. And we are constantly policing each of our parameter areas.

“As far as we’re concerned, we have policemen, we have Civil Defence, we are collaborating with the Ministry of Interior, the police to have personnel, boots on ground everywhere.

“But we’re not limiting ourselves to our own institutions at all, that we’re looking at the security as a national policy is a whole of government engagement.

“And we already had worked out with the rest of the governors and security operatives around the country on how to do this. And I just explained that if you look at a place like Kaduna state, with 512 secondary schools, we’ve had to look at those who are most prone, which from our analysis are exposed, girls secondary schools with boarding facilities are most at risk.

“So what we’ve done is to look at the radius from response time at the security agency stations to where the schools are, and if it exceeds the maximum reaction time that the military and us have worked out, we close down those schools and have them come and recite with or co-locate them with schools that are within the prescient of what we determined are safe at the moment.

“If you go to Sokoto State for instance, we’ve done buzzers we’ve done alarm systems, we’ve done perimeter monitoring, we’ve done community engagement platforms, we’ve done the SBMC procedures, which we put on school management bus and then attach security compliance officers alongside them, we are engaging everyone.

Well, if you look at what we’re doing in Borno state, and all other places where we are at risk, because even in reopening the Chibok school, if you see what Governor Zulum did there, what we did was to first of all, get all the security apparatus around the area to be able to stay within response zones.”

I could still recall when I was paid by a vagina person to write an exam which she had failed twice. I moved in majestically into the Hall physics exam it was. Lots of vagina creatures were all around me helping themselves copying everything I wrote.
When it was time to submit one hawk face student invigilator a vagina holder, came around and said. Hey, I know you are not in microbiology why are you doing this. I responded actually I am writing a carry over course. Ok if that is the case write your name because I know very well you are in engineering department.
Hearing this statement I knew the game was up. That was how I started pleading, I told her I am writing for my sister. our dad gave her a final warning, if he fail that course again she shouldn't come back home. The vagina being just smiled and said, tell me you are writing this for your babe. I knew that was a bait. I maintained my ground, it's for my sister. After few minutes she left I couldn't write Evelyn's name anymore. Those vagina carriers surrounding me like an island surrounded by water were just calling me sweet names after they had copied to their satisfaction.
I finally wrote the vagina person's name waited till they start submitting I did same. Stepping outside the hall these creatures were all inviting me to their hostel. I actually held my head high like a captain who just led out his battalion for promotion by a high ranking admiral.
Hahahaaa...

Rip to the soul.
So sad loosing life at this stage, after suffering to go through school.

However, this story is incomplete, probably the picture there is not associated with this news.

A corps member serving in a different state can't be buried with this urgency since he/she is not a Muslim and need to be taken home.

Since it was on official duty, the NYSC state coordinator would be in knowledge of it.
The deceased is an indigene of Benue State.
His name is Amos huh huh

This was disclosed to by Dr Osagie Ebomwonyi, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital in the company of the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki during an inspection tour of the state’s infectious disease isolation centre, in Benin. According to Ebomwonyi, though the new cases were people who haven’t been vaccinated, a study is currently underway to find out if the new Delta variant was now present in the state.

The Edo Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Personal Assistant, Mr. Ozeto Waheed, confirmed that the 17 Corps members were mobilized to serve in the state. He further explained that members of the scheme are always first tested at the gate of the orientation camp for the virus, and those who test positive are usually moved to the isolation centre.

EducationStudents Who Stay On-campus Are Better Academically – UNILORIN Dean Of Students by Seeksnigeria(op): 11:08pm On Aug 03, 2021
The Dean of Student Affairs, University of Ilorin, Prof. Lanre Ajibade, has said that students who live on campus are better academically and morally.

Mr Ajibade made this disclosure on Thursday in Ilorin while briefing newsmen.

He said that available statistics had shown incontrovertibly that students who reside on campus do much better academically and are more morally upright than their colleagues who live off campus.

He added that students who lived on campus graduate with respectable grades because they usually had more time for their studies since they were not exposed to distractions.

He urged students of the institution to reside on campus in view of the many advantages derivable from doing so.

He noted that students would have the opportunity of having constant access to reliable internet services and adequate security of lives and properties, regular supply of electricity and potable water.

He said that students who live on the campus would not have problems transport problems and would also enjoy quality free health services, he observed.

Mr Ajibade enjoined parents and guardians to prioritise accommodation on campus for their children and wards, pointing out that it would preserve and promote their dignity, integrity, and decency.

“Such students would be insulated against every form of harmful youthful exuberance,” he said.

The Dean of Students affairs explained to that though the school hostels could not take more than 4,006 students, private hostels can take up to 9,000 students.

He noted that despite the advantages, students do not take advantage of the private hostels for reasons best known to them.

“It is in view of the need to bridge the gap that the university authorities invited private investors to build and operate hostels on campus.

“Quite a significant number of investors had taken advantage of the invitation to build and operate private hostels with very moderate charges,” he added.

The dean noted that only students at the university who have paid relevant fees and who were on good standings were allowed to occupy those hostels.

He warned that any non-student caught residing in the hostels would be handed over to the security agencies for prosecution.

Also speaking with newsmen, Saheed Baba, the Chairman, Association of Private Hostels Investors, said that all the hostels were of high quality.

According to him, going by the agreement the private hostel owners entered with the university, the investors would operate the facilities for 21 years after which the two parties would review the agreement.

Tunji Baruwa, who is the Secretary to the Association, commended the management of the university for the opportunity provided him and his colleagues to invest in the building of the nation’s future leaders.

He assured the students that the private investors would continue to make those hostels habitable through regular maintenance.
