I think it is derogatory to call Ifa religion a 'PAGAN' religion.
I'm sure the christians who first used the term meant for it to be derogatory.
It is simply Ifa religion, originally belonging to the Yorubas but anyone who seeks its spiritual, moral and social enlightenment, upliftment and lessons is welcome to it.
Christianity EtcRe: Ifa Heritage University, Oyo & Prof. Wande Abimbola by Seempliehuman(m):
Chikeziehosan: How can u BELIEVE in a GOD that CREATED d earth with a COCKEREL..that's preposterous and absurd.
This is the problem with most Africans. You do not want to believe in a Yoruba god that created the earth by dumping earth frm a calabash on the large body of water that covered the earth and then commanding a cockerel to spread the earth round to form solid ground.
Yet,without questions, you want to believe in a foreign god that said 'let there be light' and there was lyt and he went on to create the world like that.
I ask, what is the difference?
I'm not a big fan of religion, but i'd rather stick to my father's religion if spiritual faith was do or die

i know of white Americans who study Yoruba in American Universities.
I even read their paper on the beliefs of the Yorubas concerning twins.

Foreign AffairsRe: Israel Distribute Gas Mask In Preparation For America Attack On Syria by Seempliehuman(m): 10:52am On Aug 31, 2013
America should just sit down.
In 2010,when Israel used chemical weapon in Gaza, did America and her allies say or do anything? Most people here dnt even know it happened.
That aside, what does America hope to achieve with a millitary strike? Remove Assad so terrorists and islamists can take over and we would have another iraq, another afghanistan, another pakistan with frequent suicide bombing and insecurity. Already, the opposition in Syria is divided because there are islamists frm neighbouring states who hope to make a sharia republic out of syria should assad fall. There is the free syrian army and of course the kurdish fighters.
If Assad used chemical weapons, shame on him but an american strike is no solution.there is no good way to end the syrian crisis
PoliticsRe: Dangote To Construct Refinery And Petrochemical Complex In Ogun And Ondo by Seempliehuman(m): 1:47am On Aug 30, 2013
holyvirgin: I think dangote should invest in the north, a refinery in SW region is not the best thing to do. If they can kill innocent northerners simply because the price of beans increased then I don't see the reason why such huge investments should be made in their land.
Funny how they hate northerners but jubilate when a northerner invest in their land.

I see a one nigeria since nobody sees anything bad about dangote's investment.
You're obviously blinded by sentiment.
On more than one occassion, some of the 'bigger' Yoruba traders going to buy beans in the north were slaughtered, people originally thought it was bokoharam.
But in the aftermath, other Yoruba traders realised it myt have been that the Hausa traders conspired to kill the late traders.
For one thing, it seemd unlikely that out of the thousands of Yorubas in the north, the visiting traders would be the target of bokoharam again and again and again.
Some eye-witness also claimed that the driver of the traders (who was an hausa), participated in the killing and the drivers were not harmed in all case.
Other Yorubas still travel to the north but when these traders do,they get slaughtered. So they stopped going to the north to buy beans and the result was that the Hausa traders had monopoly of the market and they doubled the price of beans.
The small skirmish between traders of the two ethnic groups was a form of protest by the Yorubas,no one died.
The specie (is that word correct?) of beans in question was developed in the south west(OAU) but it seems it grew better in the north.
I would still rather have an oduduwa republic but while we are here, this is the best thing to happen to Ondo state. If it even pulls through considering govt hav tried to build refineries b4

Dstv is the real scammer here. Many of their channels are free-to-air but they make us pay for it.
They give you crappy channels unless you can afford 11000 every month.
God might even punish us for been fools if we continue to pay

Okija_juju: You are a pathological, beer palour dwelling lair..

South Africa pays more for Cable than Nigeria..
Infact, Nigeria seems to pay the cheapest subscription for cable in the world.
i dont know why you would say things you knw are false.
I was a victim of DStv for close to 4 years and i can tell you it is not cheap.
If you pay less than 5000,the channels can drive you to suicide.the 5000 boquet is not too healthy but you'll survive.
The only time you can enjoy dstv is when you let steal 11000 frm you every month.
The premium sub in SA is 500andsomething rand,i cant remember.but it is the equivalent of 11000 in naira.
I love dongle, men like ajayi will drive multichoice out of Yorubaland

In the days of the Western Region, other Nigerians had to flock to the West to watch tv,to enjoy free education,to see a sky scraper, etc.
Fast forward by 47 years, after Nigeria destabilized our region, most of the SWestern states are finally getting back on their feet under the leadership of the APC.
As it is,you still have to cum to our region to enjoy everything. That is why we want to extend the leadership bonanza to all of Nigeria, vote for the APC and you'll be able to live in your houses.
PoliticsRe: Gunmen Kill Eight Traders In Enugu Market by Seempliehuman(m): 3:40am On Aug 23, 2013
Eklektika: The shoot out occured as a result of a power tussle within the ranks of the Local Vigilante. Ogwuagor,a rapidly expanding town both in terms of population and development was formerly in the grip of armed robbers who attacked, robbed, maimed and killed citizens. Since the Police were incapable of protecting them, the Vigilante group was formed to check the menace of the hoodlums. A levy that ranged between N200 and N500 was imposed on each household. As with most things Nigerian, the money began to get into private pockets since there was no supervisory body to audit the organisation's books. After the most recent elections in the exco of the group,a rival, disgruntled faction emerged and they are the ones suspected to be behind the attack that so far left FOUR not EIGHT people dead. The four people were NOT traders but artisans whose business premises were adjoining the office of the Vigilante at the time of the attack.
thank you jare.
Nigerians have lost all skills of comprehension. Some were trying to link the attack to boko haram after the name of the suspects was mentioned in the original post.Others were trying to blame the ACN/APC.

PoliticsRe: How Aregbesola Turned Osun To A Construction Site by Seempliehuman(m): 5:34am On Aug 22, 2013
FreeGlobe: and vooooooom its on the homepage without facts. APC has colonized nairaland. Am still waiting for these threads: Fashola is a dictator -PDP and Aregbesola declareds public holiday for traditional religion worshippers to hit nairaland homepage
what is wrong with the latter?
I'm glad osun state finally found a governor that suits its history, purpose and place in Yorubaland.
Osun state houses Ile-Ife which is believed to be the spiritual home and place of origination of the Yoruba from where they 'expanded' like the name suggests in Yoruba.
Also, osun is home to the osun-osogbo festival which is attended worldwide by adherents of the Ifa(Yoruba) religion. Its actually like Muslims going on pilgrimage to makkah, apart from the indigenes of osun state,it is shamefully most attended by foreigners from the Americas.
Now given the religious and spiritual significance of the state,i'm glad it finally found a governor that cares to declare public holidays for traditional adherents.Muslims and Christians have numerous holidays,no one suffered a heart attack.
Finally, the Yoruba religion was once described due to the spread of its membership as the only religion from Africa that could stand on the same foot with islam and christianity. It had to be removed because hundreds of igbos were petioning wikipedia by the hour. These are people that generally do not care for 'heathen' beliefs

t-something:
I opened this thread to see pictures of "massive construction " and being that this is Eko Ile home state , but to put it frankly, I am totally disappointed! In 2013, what kind of State Government construct such roads like this one you uploaded and still proudly uses the word "massive construction"? Even the "substandard" NDDC roads in the south-south , is still better than these works you pasted here . And to think that the governor is an engineer even shows how sad the situation is!

Please my south west brothers, stop celebrating mediocrity! Travel to other states and see what "massive construction" looks like , yet they are carried out quietly . You can visit Cross River and Akwa Ibom states to see what roads should look like in 2013.

This is the reason why PDP will keep on winning general elections, while APC wins internet polls.

*laughs and walks out of thread *
it is gud for you if you're satisfied with the nddc roads of if there are any roads at all.We love our roads, put pictures of yours online and celebrate them if our joy bothers you.
The only reason why ACN wont win national elections is because nigeria is ethnically fragmented and its your loss
Science/TechnologyRe: Nigerian Teenager Design Helicopter Prototype by Seempliehuman(m): 9:07pm On Aug 18, 2013
Capt. JH Miller:
I doubt that thing can fly, look at the baldes its crooked, its soppose to be areodynamic and have a shape of an airfoil.
The blades are too short and thin to create lift. For that heavy craft plus a pilot.
I can't see a tail. No hleicopter can fly with one set of blades.
An aircraft requires an engine with a significant amount of horsepower, from that pic its a mottocycle or tricycle engine.. No match. The engine with the required horsepower is a powerbike engine, a powerbike engine alone is bigger than that structure.

To create a fying craft no be beans, that's why they are really expensive. A lot of time goes into details of everything.. Haven't talked about the contols yet!

So guys..

Its just a model put together for fun.
To an issue completely unrelated to this post, your username suggests you've seen 'saving private ryan'. Great movie, ryt?

What are people supposed to see?
CultureUnderstanding The Igbo Mind? by Seempliehuman(op): 1:29am On Aug 16, 2013
"It does not take a rocket scientist to recognize that
Igbos want to be seen as a special breed of
humanity; they would like you to tell them that they
are God’s special creation and that they are superior
to other people, superior to Hausas, Yorubas, Edos,
indeed, superior to white folks, Asian folks, to all human beings. If you gratify that desire of theirs they feel okay but if
they feel that you do not collude with them and see
them as they want to be seen they feel angry at you;
they would launch an unending war with you with
the purpose of making you change your mind so
that eventually you come to see them as they want to be seen: a special breed of humanity, a superior race
of people. (One way some of them now seek
specialness is to claim to be related to that other
misguided group, Jews, who claim to be the special
children of God. Igbos are not Jews; they are
Africans; they are part of the Niger-Congo language group.) Igbos problems with their Nigerian neighbors are
rooted in their struggle to be seen by their neighbors
as a special people, as a superior people. They try to
bamboozle people into accepting their exalted self-
appraisal. If you allow yourself to be hoodwinked by
them and see them as they want to be seen, go into cahoots with them and see them as special, they see
you as friend but the moment you change your mind
and see them as just ordinary human being (which
they are) they see you as an enemy and start
attacking you with their rusted swords and Igbo
English."

Afam4eva: It's the same with Kwame Nkrumah, Kenneth kaunda and many others. They were not the only figures that fought for the independence of their respective countries just that they stood out for whatever reasons.
Educate me,Nnamdi stands out for what reason?
Wikipaedia describes him thus;'one of the leading political figures...'
nnamdi was only a vein in the muscle that wrestled for nigeria's independence and he did no great thing to seperate him from the others.
Infact, his role appears minimal from all that i've managed to study
PoliticsRe: After Mandela, Who Is The Next Greatest African Alive? by Seempliehuman(m): 1:30am On Jun 27, 2013
Mandela is only just a celebrity like Jim Iyke now.
No doubt,he was once brave and he protested against white suppression and oppression at a time when south african blacks were considered 'game'.
But he didnt see anything through and the whites manipulated the main stream media to make it look like all is well in SA because of Mandela. He seems to believe this alongside the people who think he is the greatest African alive.
Things are even worse for Southafricans now, because now;they dont know nothing has changed.
PoliticsRe: After Mandela, Who Is The Next Greatest African Alive? by Seempliehuman(m): 1:19am On Jun 27, 2013
Stormborn: What made Nelson mandela the greatest african man. Did he fight for the freedom of all african countries cus from the books i have read it was almost all the african countries especially Nigeria that fought for the independence of south africa, and let us not forget that other countries had people who fought for them e.g. 1- Ghang= kwame nkruma. 2- NIGERIA= NNAMDI AZIKWE. 3- Zambia= keneth kaunda e.t.c. All these people are heroes of their countries and african as a continent, so i don't see why Nelson mandela should be called the greatest african when these people did the same thing he did.
shame on you for crediting Nnamdi Azikwe with the work of many great and brave Nigerians just to make a silly point

Talking abt d greatest African dat is alive 2day after ''Madiba'', IMHO it is.......... Jerry Rawlings of Ghana.
i couldnt help but notice that Chief Obafemi Awolowo -the most astute African politician to ever live and one of the greatest in the world- didnt make the list.
