Programming / Re: Do You Need A Backend Developer (PHP Or Laravel) by segbolon: 3:02am On Sep 06, 2018
treehilltech:
I have a fiver account never got a job

Do you have sample projects? Most PHP programmers I've tried recruiting off here can't write clean OOP code and have no idea about SOLID principles and design patterns. Can you work without a framework, let's say we are creating a pure backend library? If so, reach out to me, I like PHP but generally avoid using it because the caliber of programmers it attracts tends to be weak.

You might want to explore other languages, you can get more work if you know go, typescript, python, java, c++

Programming / Re: How Can I Get IP Of A Specific Hop For Traceroute In Python by segbolon: 3:15am On Aug 21, 2017
You figured it out, but sometimes you might not need to write a program.

trace route www.google.com | head -6 | tail -1 | cut -d" " -f5

Where 6 is N+1, where N is the IP of the hop I want to see.
Programming / Re: Which Frontend Framework/library by segbolon: 11:14pm On Aug 20, 2017
Plain on HTML, JS and CSS at the hands of a skilled person is still king.

If you must build a SPA then vueJS, Angular or React. In this order, in my humble opinion.
Programming / Re: Is A Chromebook Good For Programming In Nigeria by segbolon: 3:47am On Aug 17, 2017
I'm in US but I use chromebook. I like the battery life and like that it's cheap. I installed Linux via crouton and use it for programming. I fortunately bought the older acer model so I was able to upgrade the measly 2gb of ram to 16gb at one point. Downgraded it to 8gb. If you are on a tight budget, then it's not bad.
Programming / Re: How Do You Find Web Development Projects by segbolon: 3:44am On Aug 17, 2017
Gain experience. Don't be scared of frameworks. Learn as much as you can, build practical projects.
With python, if you know Django you should be able to find a gig. Learn flask as well and you will be well rounded.
How good are you? I really don't have a python project, but I can give you a gig to build a proof of concept if you are good.

The problem with Nigerian programmers so far, not all, but most is that they know very little but think they know enough. The problem is because the compare themselves to other fellow programmers who don't know much.

If you want to access your skills, you should be able to go study read a large code base on GitHub of a popular project and not be scared. You should be able to make changes and understand the structure. You should know and follow good code practices, such as good design, knowing your design patterns, SOLID principles, clean code, how to write unit, functional and integration tests. Good naming, of course a good knowledge of the base language, it's standard libraries, etc.

Keep at it, take anything you can, and keep building. Keep learning. you will grow.

I love this discussion. If you are truly passionate about programming, I'm hiring. You can work remote, your own time, your own pace. I personal hate java, but I believe it's a fine language for enterprise programming and programming at large.

A script is easy, the net will detect you are spamming and ban your domain. If you wish to send mass email, use a vendor that provides an API like mail chimp.

Programming / Re: Who Have Heard Of Cordova And Phonegap? by segbolon: 4:18am On Aug 01, 2017
pcguru is right, cordova allows you to write plugins in native language.
so if you are writing a hybrid mobile app using javascript using ionic/react. if you want to use a hardware function, say GPS, or access contact list, you import a cordova plugin which allows you to call it from javascript. If it's Android, the cordova plugin is usually written in java, if it's iOS, it's usually written in objective C or swift.

You must be experienced. This means, you must have projects you are willing to demo and I can review and quiz you on.
I've willing to teach provided you are self driven, my teaching will come in the form of code reviews and giving you pointer on best practices.

A bit about me. I've been doing this for more than 20 yrs, Started by PC game programming, nintendo gameboy and playstation. https://games.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1282&cid=1693607 this was in 1999. I'm experienced in more than a dozen languages which I don't wish to list. I have too many ideas and not enough time to program them all, so I'm hiring.

Right now, I have a main project occupying my time. I've got the mobile, web & backend covered. Backend is in javascript/nodejs but I'll rewrite it in golang once I'm done with the proof of concept. So if you are a strong golang developer reach out to me. I might take an extra help since this is the biggest of the project.

I have many other ideas but 2 that are bugging me so I wish to build proof of concepts before I turn them into a product.

A) will be a mobile & website. This requires knowledge of javascript/typescript with ionic2 or strong angular2 knowledge.

b) web app requiring strong knowledge of Java, although I will tolerate strong skill in another language to get a proof of concept up.

I work solely on Linux platform, I don't care if you use windows, OS X, but you must test in a linux environment. You are free to work your own hours, how you want, where you want.

Check me out at www.bolonbolo.com

If you have your own idea and are looking for partners or/and funding. Reach out and pitch to me.

[quote author=gimakon post=58367322]Pls show your code.

Hello guys i have being able to get around it. i wasnt using the proper SELECT statement to call values hence the constant error. i havent linked it to a proper login session yet. Hopefully when i do i would be updating everyone here if i have any errors come up.
BTW i tried posting my code earlier and got banned for a week . i dont know if there is a special method of posting codes in here.

Use pastebin to post your code. One thing that good programmers do is learn to read error messages. So pay attention as you experience errors so next time you will immediately know what the cause is.

Programming / Re: This Php Is About To Make Me Go Nuts. Pls Help by segbolon: 4:08am On Jul 12, 2017
You must be skipping steps. You shouldn't learn PHP from stupid web tutorials. Get a book and read it from beginning to the very end. Programming is not one of those things you can passively engage in like watching a TV or reading a novel. There is no shortcut. from your description of your problems, it's obvious you haven't put in the effort.
