frankpro27: BREAKING: Triumph for Biafra as UN tells Nigeria to unconditionally release, compensate Nnamdi Kanu July 23, 2022
The United Nations, UN Human Rights Council Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, has indicted both Nigeria and Kenya Governments for the arrest and extraordinary rendition, torture and continued detention of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, without due process.
UN therefore, asked Nigerian Government to, “immediate release Kanu unconditionally” and pay him adequate compensations for the arbitrary violation of his fundamental human rights.
It also recommended that Government officials responsible for the torture meted to the IPOB Leader be investigated and punished.
The UN body further directed Nigeria to report back within six months of the transmission of its opinions on Kanu’s matter, steps taken to comply with all the recommendations thereof.
It referred the case of Kanu’s torture to Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment for further consideration
The UN Working Group also threatened to take further action to ensure the recommendations are complied with, noting that both Nigeria and Kenya are signatories to the Convention and should comply.
The 16-page report dated July 20, 2022 was adopted on April 4 by the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention at its 93rd session, held between March 30 – April 8, 2022.

Throwback: The ineffectual buffoon. Don Furtunato.
Return from where?
Did he make Naira stronger than he met it? Was petrol cheaper than he met it? Did he succeed in his fight against corruption or insecurity? Was there any goods or services cheaper during his own regime than his predecessor? Did he not wind down the foreign reserves that Obasanjo and Yar'Adua built up? Did he not borrow funds to meet up with civil servants salaries, less than 10months after crude oil prices fell below $100/barrel without any major savings?
Did he not keep his corrupt ministers like Stella Oduah despite the clear case of corruption, only to ease her out more than a year later in a cabinet reshuffle and reward her with a Senate ticket as her penalty?
Did he not also mobilise the army to put down civil protests?
Did he not harass a seating democratic Governor with a police commissioner?
Did he not deprive Governor Timipre Sylva in his same Bayelsa state of a 2nd term ticket in the PDP?
Did he not use organs of state to harass opposition parties and break into their offices?
Did he not fund politicians in his party with public funds?
Did he not provide the military and funding used to rig Ekiti elections?
Was he open to criticism of his government? Did he not claim the story of the deplorable state of the Police college Ikeja, was to embarrass his government?
Did he not silence and force out Sanusi from the CBN due to the factual claims of revenue leakage from oil sales?
What about the long ASUU and Medical strike during his regime?
Did he not appoint the financial disaster known as Emefiele to supervise the free fall of our Naira from 2014 till date?
Did the weakling not call boko haram our family?
Did the weakling not side-step DIG Ivy Okoronkwo to appoint AIG M.D Abubakar as IG of Police just to please the North?
Did the weakling not remove Festus Odimegwu from NPC following remarks he made about past population census that did not go down well with the likes of Gov Rabiu Kwankwaso who stormed Aso Rock? Did Rabiu Kwankwaso that he was trying to please because of Kano votes, not eventually decamp to the newly formed APC with his Kano votes?
That Buhari is failing does not mean the clown called Jonathan is now desirable. These are good points you have there |

Unibentatafo: Sylvester Oromoni: Former Teacher At Dowen College Makes Shocking Revelation About School
A former teacher at Dowen College has opened up on his experiences in the school and what made him resign from the school.
The former Dowen teacher was forced to share his experience following uproar on social media about brutal death of 12-year-old student, Sylvester, and quest for justice.
The unidentified former staff reached out to Beyond Intimacy to share his ordeal while working at the school.
He wrote;
“Good morning beyond intimacy. I’m happy that you joined in dragging Dowen College. I once worked there. I flogged a boy that I caught deeping his fingers in the an*s of another junior student.
Could you believe that his parent came to school few days later and wanted to arrest me if not for the intervention of the Management who said I must kneel down and apologize to the child in question.
The humiliation was so much for me, in as much as I refused to do it. I resigned….so many kids in Dowen are potential murderers. God bless you for speaking out. Let’s not even talk about boys who are being forced into homosexuality by their seniors. These people having govt backup. Pls hide my identity pls. I beg you,” he discreetly share to Beyond Intimacy. If this incident is true, then his identity will easily be known by the management of the school |

snapdragon00: This is an update to the previous thread here:
https://www.nairaland.com/6783357/traveling-air-first-time/7#106420545
So i boarded my plane this morning and i can say it was a great experience thanks to all your contributions and tips. Lemme start like this, I woke up so early as my flight was at 8:25 since it's my first time i needed to play safe to avoid stories that touch i didn't give my village people a chance in that aspect.
I arrived at the airport few minutes to 7 and by 7:10 i was done checking in and ready for boarding (I didn't expect it to be so fast and smooth tho)
That was how i started pressing my phone and carefully paying attention to the announcements that one could barely hear. (I think airports need to do better as some of us no dey understand that kind accents) They can just past the announcement on a screen for people to read, anyways what do i know? maybe people have not missed flight as a result of that.
Ehen so while waiting, i was just observing everything, i saw one bros seated behind me so i walked up to him and confessed. "Bros no vex, na my first flight bdis, abeg if dem announce air peace flight to lagos just let me know" he smiled and said i shouldn't worry. Few minutes later i heard the announcement naso i pack my things go join queue, kudos to air peace (unlike the other announcements i heard, they used one local accent to announce before the normal posh accent repeated the announcement so it was easy for me to know it's time to board.
They did the normal thing and i was inside the plane naso i just dey look like village boy. i followed the suggestion by some good NLanders and watched how to fasten a plane seat belt so it was not an issue, i no disgrace my ancestors. except for the air hostess that was rude when i asked her for my seat everything went fine, i was so calm and composed like i've done this before. The plane took off and few minutes later we're flying above the clouds i was just smiling all through then i felt a sharp pain in my left ear, boom i no dey hear well again. then i remembered i was told here, i just swallowed saliva and i'd regain my hearing, it continued through out the flight. some of the things i noticed through the flight was:
Majority of land, like 70 percent is uninhabited, i saw my knowledge of geography come into play as we ascend into the sky, i could easily identify all the different layers like atmosphere, lithosphere and the rest it was like we're traveling to space, asin after all science no dey lie oo but above all God is the greatest. My experience helped me to believe God more, like he created all these things, he has the power to do anything so why even doubt him.
At some point during the flight, the plane was vibrating and turning anyhow lol but i didnt panic because i remembered nairalanders told me about it, i was seated by the window and stayed awake all through. Like 20 minutes into the flight, the pilot said "for those of you sitting by the right if you look by the window we are just flying over ibadan" naso i look and was like, oga i no see ibadan here ooo na just thick cloud i see. That was how i landed in lagos around 10am and the weather was looking like 4pm nawao. i enjoyed my flight sha and i hope to do this again, but next time it should be canada not lagos. Chairman, lithosphere is land ó |
