Christianity Etc › Re: The Power Of Choice by seggzz(m): 10:44am On Apr 23, 2017 |
Hardeysolution: Ephesians 1:12
God has given us the power of choice, but once we have made the choice, it has power over us.
The Bible is filled with illustrations of decisions with which people were faced and the result of the choices they made. Joseph chose to forgive those who had cruelly mistreated him rather than harbor bitterness. Samson chose to follow lustful desires rather than God's plan for his life. Abraham chose to trust God and demonstrate that trust by being willing to offer his son as a sacrifice. Judas chose to betray Christ for financial gain. Of the two thieves crucified on either side of Jesus, one chose to mock Him while the other chose to trust Him.
The choices of Joseph, Abraham, and the thief who trusted Christ brought unbelievably wonderful results. God honored Joseph's faithfulness and forgiveness by raising him from the prison to the palace and reuniting him with his father and brothers. God honored Abraham's faith by providing a substitute sacrifice and blessing his ensuing generations with strength and multiplication. God honored the thief's choice bypromising him a home in Heaven (just as He promises to anyone who will trust Him for salvation)
On the other hand, the choices of Samson, Judas, and the mocking thief brought consequences that they did not foresee when they made their decisions. Both Samson and Judas ended their lives by suicide. Samson lost the delivering power of God and ended his life a slave-his eyes gouged out and doing the job of an animal while being mocked by God's enemies. The unbearable guilt Judas felt after betraying Christ brought him to the end of a noose where he hanged himself. The mocking thief will forever be regretting his decision to reject Christ as he spends eternity in Hell.
God has given each of us the power of choice, but once we have made our choice, we have no power to choose the consequences. Consider Eve's choice in the Garden of Eden. Even after God gave Adam and Eve every good thing in the Garden of Eden, when Satan tempted Eve to take of the one tree God had forbidden, she yielded.
Satan suggested to Eve that she could be her own god, making her own decisions based on her own reasoning: "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:4-5). This temptation to be ones own god appeals to many Christians today. They want to be the one in control.
God does give us a free will-power to choose who we will obey-just as He gave to Adam and Eve. But notice that once Adam and Eve made their choice, they had no control of the consequences. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" (Romans 5:12).
When you are faced with temptation, remember the power of choice. You can choose to yield to temptation, but once you have made that choice, you cannot choose the consequences. On the other hand, as a Christian, you can choose to yield to the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:13). Once you have made that choice, you will find the consequences are the unabated blessings of God (Romans 6:22). Choose today, through the power of grace, to yield to the Holy Spirit. If your God gave you the ability to choose from the available choices He created, why would HE still punish you for your chosen choice? |

Raising Children is not work?? Okay ooo we yaf hia. Only someone who has never had to take care of a child will say this. They are womwen who work and take care of children but noooo our prophet above will not consider this as work. (1) Since there is no law against women raping men, it shows that your gender is favoured. (2) No law is against women for being voted for. Women hardly contest for politics in Nigeria, does this show any form of inequality here? (3) Check the military and other life threatening Jobs sector in Nigeria, they are mostly occupy by male. Do you know the reasons for this? one of the reasons is that you hardly see female applying for such job. And even if you see any of them in such sector, they are usually given the juicy and less threatening posts just because of 'she is a woman'. Banks do employ females singles than men even in Nigeria. (4)Can threads opening on bride price make you pay your husband or boyfriend family groom price? Is it not still inequality? Who is benefiting more here? (5) Taking care of children is natural law and not society inequality. It is one of the natural things that makes you a woman. Of what use is your breasts and other of your organ if not for a natural purpose. Men do care for their children as well... |

(1) Is there any law against women raping men in Nigeria? At least we have almost equal number of cases women rape men.
(2) You see men deployed in death threatening position in the oil industry or anywhere compare to the female. You can see them occupying major offices than men.
(3) females are more likely to be promoted than men. Do you the reason?
(4) I'm not saying women don't also do petty jobs but who pays the bride price? why can't the female pay groom price? male is equally important as you do to your parents.
(5) females got rights to vote, to work, to earn but then they still don't want to accept reality - with greater power comes greater responsibility. I don't mean "raising the children, chores" etc.
What type of inequality are you talking about? There are things females are more favoured than men Nigeria. That is the simple truth! |

I AM A WOMAN!!! -
So what? I get into an argument with a man, he slaps me, I feel the pain, yet they tell me I provoked him. I should have been quiet, I should have been patient. I should apologize to him.
I get into an argument with a man, I slap him, they tell me I have no respect, no home training. I should have been quiet, I should have been patient. I should apologize to him.
Because I am a woman, I don't have a right to be angry. So, the degree of my innocence is directly proportional to the degree of my silence in the face of oppression and brutality.....
Because I am a woman, my husband cheats on me, I am told to tolerate it to save my marriage. The barbaric and stupid excuse is that ''it is in their nature to cheat, I should slim down, dress better, cook better, pray harder and be more pleasant to him"
I cheat, and I am called a LovePeddler, I have committed an abomination, I have no right to look elsewhere for the love and emotional support I lack at home, I am an irresponsible mother.
So I am sent packing, from the home we both built, with all my earthly possessions stuffed into a tiny box on my head. I am henceforth forbidden from seeing my two older children, I'm lucky to be allowed to go with my little one still suckling on my left breast. Three years later, the little one is tagged a bastard. Now, my new name is "after-three", because I am a woman.
He is 28 and runs a company. He's tagged wonderful, hardworking, focused, career oriented, successful at a very young age.
I am 28 and I run a company " Hmmmm, she is not even married, unserious, can not order her priorities right, a hustler, loves money, let her go and get a husband oh" And I wonder if being successful has anything to do with a person's gender.
Because I am a woman, I am not allowed to have wits or be a prodigy, I cannot be financially buoyant, professionally successful or be treated with respect without a man beside me.
Then I am tagged a generous leg opener, "a runs girl". They never see the possibility that I actually had to go through ups and downs to get to where I am. Because I am a woman.
A man looses his wife to death and remarries a year after, he did the right thing, he's being praised and congratulated for moving on, afterall life is for the living.
A woman looses her husband to death and remarries after 4yrs, "ahhh! so early? Are u sure she wasn't sleeping with that man even when her husband was alive? That was why she killed her husband. She's a witch! " Because she's a woman.
Because I am a woman, this post will be considered controversial, and everyone will try to correct me. But don't forget, that I am a woman and it does not make me less human!!! Happy new year. I'm really surprised at what women do say about the inequality in our society today. I can list over hundred ways where women or females are more favoured than men. Is it until you turn men to slaves before you realised you're favoured? check the following few samples... (1) Women or females are gainfully employed than makes... Check the rate of unemployment in Nigeria. You would discovered that male unemployment rate is higher. (2) women like themselves than man like themselves... I had discussion with someone, I told him that when you slap a female, it is your fellow male that would fight you or slap you without knowing who is at fault. (3) With current recession in Nigeria, I would say it affects mostly the males. It is in this country we see a female working in oil company but the man working as a roadside mechanic. This man pays his children school fees, house rents, pay millions for bride price and others. She would even ask the poor man to give her pocket money. Females are taking over the juicy jobs and yet not satisfied. (4) Women raping men, who can tell me punishment for raping men in Nigeria? We can't hear of this. The society we have now favours women more than men. What I see in this your write-up is inequality but this is not 100% true. |

A lady in a faded grey dress and her husband dressed in a home made suit walked in timidly without an appointment into the Harvard University President's outer office.
The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods individuals had no business at Harvard and probably did not even deserve to be in Harvard.
"We want to see the President" the man said softly. "He will be busy all day" the lady secretary snapped. "We will wait" the lady replied.
For hours the secretary ignored them hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They did not and the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president.
"Maybe if you see them for a few minutes, they will leave" she said to him. The president. stern faced and with dignity strutted towards the couple.
The lady told him "We had a son who attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago he was accidentally killed. My husband & I would like to erect a memorial for him, somewhere on the campus".
The president was not touched, in fact he was shocked. "Madam" he said gruffly "We cannot put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery".
"Oh No..No.." the lady explained quickly. "We do not want to erect a statue. We thought we would like to give a building to your Harvard in his fond memory".
The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the lady's dress and man's suit and then exclaimed: "A Building?" Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical buildings here at Harvard. For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could get rid of them now.
The lady turned to her husband and said quietly "Is that all it costs to start a University? Why don't we just start our own?" Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment.
Mr. & Mrs. Leland & Jane Stanford got up and walked away, travelling to Paolo Alto, California where they established the University that bears their name: Stanford University - a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about.
Most of the time we judge people by their outer appearance which can be misleading. And in the impression, we tend to treat people badly by thinking they can do nothing for us. Thus we tend to lose out potential good friends, employees or customers.
Though, it may not be convenient for you, do your best to always be supportive. Especially to your friends even if you think they can't offer you anything. Who could believe that Prof. Yemi Osibanjo is the vice president of this great country called Nigeria.

kanicorp9: The Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja, of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 102 bags of plastic rice branded “Beat Tomato Rice’’ with no date of manufacture.
The Customs Area Controller of F.O.U. Comptroller Mohammed Haruna, made the disclosure in an interview with our correspondent.
He said that the commodity was stored for distribution as Yuletide gifts for the public.
Haruna said that officers of the unit intercepted the plastic rice along Ikeja area on Monday, adding that a suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure.
“Before now, I thought it was a rumour that the plastic rice is all over the country but with this seizure, I have been totally convinced that such rice exists.
“We have done the preliminary analysis on the plastic rice. After boiling, it was sticky and only God knows what would have happened if people consumed it.
“I advise those economic saboteurs who see yuletide season as a peak period for nefarious acts to desist from such illegal business.
“The unit has decided other operational modalities that will make them run for their monies and count their losses, ‘’ NAN quotes the controller as saying.
He described smuggling as a global phenomenon, adding that such act could not be curbed entirely but could be brought to its barest minimum.
Haruna appreciated well-meaning Nigerians who provided the service with prompt information that led to the discovery of the bags of plastic rice.
The controller, however, advised the media to educate the public on the existence of plastic food, adding that it was no longer a rumour.
Haruna assured the public that the distribution point of the particular plastic rice seized by the unit had been blocked with immediate effect.
He said that investigation was still ongoing. https://www.wikinaija.net/2016/12/customs-intercepts-102-bags-of-plastic-rice/ custom enjoys seizing people's goods for their use... Customs officers wives don't face recession... lol |
