Yeah the basics is marrying 30 wives and breeding 52 as almajiris. Any shallow man should love that too until the almajiris suffer soo much, envy soo much, hate soo much or wonder what they are doing on earth and give up on life and become suicidal BH, FH etc. Or depend on coveting government power, merited or not, to subjugate others just to survive. Please even sophisticated moronism is better. grin
what the drift?
I don't get you.

We have some of it down south, but not to the same extent. In fact, we actually have a problem with pastors prioritising teachings about wealth -prosperity gospel- so sometimes we even do the direct opposite

i would say people in the western world are freer to pursue ambition because they generally arent held back by the stuff that messes us up here like school fees, no light, no water and all those things. Youre right that the fight against poverty makes us sit up. But it shouldnt turn one into an animal. Our politicians who have won this fight, do you see how irrationally they are behaving?

Because they cant bear to go back down a notch. And when you look into their pasts, they were even the most idealistic and optimistic ones
yeah we in the south have come off accepting the poverty life theory but the worse it is the "animal" instinct, tendency and the desperation at which we from the south now seek wealth is just alarming and scary.
in all three of the five social institutions that govern the social system has really failed us. the political, religion and educational institutions has dealt and done us more harm than proportionally acceptable. the north is worse hit with educational starvation hence their masses accepting poverty as a way of life.
come to think of it, won't education rob them of the virtue of simplicity they have at end of it all if given the right exposure. fine it will take away some inhuman nature but open to the volatile greed we now bear southward.

it has a spiritual benefit because its good to be content and have a peace of mind. but it leads them to be easily exploited because they feel that material things and physical comfort dont matter at all

they matter, actually. maybe we in the south overestimate their importance but at least it helps us to strive for more

their own, they feel a poor status or condition is their lot from God and they dont need to do anything about it. and the fact that they have produced the highest number of presidents, the constitution (i think?) is biased in their favour, their traditional rulers are balling and the place is still so messed up shows that the mindset has some drawbacks
ma'am I won't disagree with you but if we look deep we have same effect down south. the effect of religion on Nigerians is just out of it, our religious leaders preach contentment to us the Christ and mohammed followers go to pray and bless the thieves and milkers of our commonwealth. like you said the acceptability of the contentment theory by the northerners is really out of the natural, a fall out of lark of formal education. the public servants are really a harm to us.
from my observation (though I've never been out of the country), the western world folks don't really go for wealth but their daily and basic needs as a result of the ruling class making available their essential needs but here we have been made to awaken to acquire and enrich ourselves all in the bid to beat poverty.

Northerners are contented with poverty.
Called a northerner to do some work for me, the guy asked for₦500 when we demanded his bill. Somebody said it honesty. I disagreed. It is pure foolishness.
We gave him ₦1000 at the end. I just shook my head.
What was this man going to do with ₦500?
What can ₦500 buy in today's Nigeria?
Our conscience didn't allow us pay ₦500,that was why we gave him ₦1000.This is a man that isn't less than 50years.
The poverty thing is good news to most people up north.
what lessons did you learn from that simple scenario? it isn't about poverty but something more it.

Bargaining with someone from the north is an experience to be remembered

you can say something outrageous and theyll still take it

when i realised it i tried not to go too low because even you that got the deal will be feeling bad
I love the northerners for one thing, which simplicity. life is nothing to them but just the basics, their immediate needs. compare to we the southerners.

These are my views of things that can cos building collapse;
Given work to a non-professional
Adding load to the original structure designed for(imagine the engr designed for 3storey which he started d calculations from the top down, and later after few years cos of money n investment the client thought of going a floor more which isnt part of calculation, trust me the building will come down)
Another thing is using substandard materials and bad mix ratio or going against the engineering drawings done.
Yet another is Doing rush work without curring your decking well.
Sth happened on same island which is common where they cast decking today and start block work tomorrow which is far worse.
Engr that dope also cos some by lying to the client, stealing materials and using fake things.
A building came down in Lekki n when the decking was checked they used 8mm rod instead of 12mm and in likeness to beam where we do have 16mm n 20mm depending on the building.

I cant advise anyone to buy a house on the island if u arent sure how the building was erected, safe your families.
you are very right, not just lagos island come to abeokuta before I saw someone employ a molder to mold for her manually you won't believe the were negotiating within 40, 45 and 50 bricks to a bag of cement. I suppose the approved standard should be 25, 30 if I'm not mistaken (I stand to be corrected).
tell me the end of any building the above specification is used for!? it burn down to Nigerians even when the cash is available a lot tend economise. I know of some that his wall come crumbling whenever lizard attempt it.

the common law, common sense, even religious bases spelt it out clearly but pride and arrogance won't allow them reason, the stupid drive to become dominant won't open doors for reasoning from a bit room for common sense.

I still can't imagine you wanting to dictate a man's choice when even you can make the right one. want to make a follower out of people that are well and better organized than you are, ahead of you in every sphere of life. people with focused, directional and visionary leadership compare to you without a leader, living a life of sheep without shepherd. they keep amazing me.

Ur mind is too narrow for the simple physics explanation

I in my premises there are bricks of about 3years that keep crumbling by the day, the day it was being molded I over the owner telling the molder to make 50 bricks out of a bag of cement, the molder suggested probably 40 or 45 tell me how a building constructed out of such brick won't give way.
the brick has been there since then unused, go close to it the alone the brick crumbs. tell if such brick is used for building what would happen. by stand in Nigeria it ought to be a bag of cement to 25 bricks if I'm not mistaken. another is my landlady son-in-laws house, his children confirmed lizard mere crawling or climbing the unplastered wall the lizard and sands on the wall come falling to ground. this is what we have.

Yen yen yen.

These idiots knew their plane has a fault which makes the plane to nosedive. They didn't inform the pilots n instruct them how to handle the issue. They didn't tell the public that the planes are flying coffin. But now that every airline has banned their carton, they want to update.

But why do I feel there is an impending crash on one of those Air Peace planes? That airline is a horror show.

They will delay your flight by 8 hours n your one hour flight is actually a special prayer session because they will ensure they properly traumatize u. And the end, you will just ask yourself, "why didn't I just take Ekene Motors?"

If I have the means, I will never allow that stupid airline fly over my house let alone board one.
I can't but keep laughing over - "flying coffin", "banned their carton", "That airline is a horror show.", " "why didn't I just take Ekene Motors?"
and that your last line "If I have the means, I will never allow that stupid airline fly over my house let alone board one."
I keep laughing over those lines on yours, though I've never been onboard a plane before so can say how it feels like, but back when lived in Lagos standing in front if my house at egbeda you will read about the tiniest inscription on the planes body while land at the international wing but the days I found myself at mafoluku that was scary seeing a plane fly directly above my head.

I hope you know that segregation and apartheid were administered by institutionalized laws. Blacks are not allowed here. Blacks cannot do this etc. When a law becomes oppressive and unreasonable, it is well within your legal rights to challenge it in a court of law. If the FG comes tomorrow and makes a law that anyone who criticizes Buhari will go straight to prison without trial, I'm sure you won't just accept it quietly.

My point is simple. The father is well within his rights to challenge that law; not that we even know what the said "law" states. There is no law in any school that is superior to the constitution of the nation.
I'm not in dispute with all you have but realize this organisation has been given the legal and constitutional to maintain its own laws within the system in as much it won't contravene the universal accepted human rights and as laid out by our own constitution.
like I said I agree with you but acceptability of and challenging some infringement on our rights are not tenable if they don't contravene national laws of which hair do remains an exclusive to organisation to decide - like in the banking sector some decide on dress code for their staffers, if I'm not down with their choice of colours which might infringe on my right is not a thing of call to me for it is their choice.
