Politics / Re: Wasn't Colonialism A Good Thing In A Way? by segun06: 4:48am On Mar 20, 2006 |
The idea behind the colonization of African countries was that, we were animals that needed to be trained and controled. How can there be anything good about that? Sure if we hadn't been colonized, we would probably still be living in the stone ages but you forget that if it wasn't for colonization, the western world would be totally different from what we see today. I believe that if we had not been colonized we would have developed at our own time. Besides you forget all the bad things that came along with the colonization, for instance slavery, exploitation, corruption e.t.c. Sure they educated us, taught us their language, and gave us their religion, but the truth is we had our own version of this things. Think about it, if the whitemen hadn't come we would still have food, medicine, education, entertainment, transportation, law and order. Instead we have a polluted society, with everyone running away at the slightest chance they get. Some good things might have come from colonization, but at what cost? Our culture, our people, Our dignity, our pride, our wealth, Our future. Does that sound like a fair bargain to you? 1 Like |

If i wanted to become the president of Nigeria, what would I have to do? Where do I sign-up? Who do I pay off? How do I even campaign? Does anyone know? |

This maybe the case but until this happens how are some going to live without foreign aid?? You sound like you've seen some positive effects foreign aids have had, can you kindly point them out. |
Politics / Re: The Problem With Nigeria? by segun06: 4:59am On Mar 18, 2006 |
The problem with Nigeria is that We are not aware or we don't care about the consequences of our actions/inactions plus we are too busy trying to proof we are better than on another that we don't notice that the house in on fire. Every problem with Nigeria/Africa can be traced back to this problem; corruption, massacres, riots, lack of free education, hunger, poverty, the list goes on. |

It's just like Obong said: you can get them that cheap, but its usualy in very bad areas and would need a lot of work. sometimes not much resale value If you have enough money, you can fix up the house and add some things that will improve the value of the house, thus increasing your profit. Here are some parts of the house you can fix up to add more value to the house: 1. The Exterior of the house. 2. The Kitchen. 3. The basement. 4. The fireplace. Or if you are patient you could just wait a couple of years while the value of the house increases. |
Politics / Re: The Western Media's Portrayal Of Africa by segun06: 5:58am On Mar 17, 2006 |
I really don't think Nigeria/Africa needs any financial foreign aid, we just need to come up with a better way of distributing this gigantic wealth of ours. Africa is the richest continent in the world, its just filled with the poorest people in the world. |
Business / Re: Buying And Selling Repossessed Cars And Foreclosed Homes by segun06: 5:48am On Mar 17, 2006 |
do u know if need a real estate license to buy and sell homes? No, but you might need a real estate agent for legal advice and a list of foreclosed homes in your area. Does anybody know if this sort of thing is available in UK? I think it is available in everywhere there's a bank loaning people money. Matter of fact, i think its available in Nigeria. I once heard that the custom offices auction off stuffs that they seize for extremely low prices, but you'll probably have to pay off some folks. |
Business / Re: Buying And Selling Repossessed Cars And Foreclosed Homes by segun06: 1:00am On Mar 15, 2006 |
i nearly bought one of those house here in spain last year. i know a boy that does this and he's made. but you need a raw cash to buy those houses and i don't have them, i went to the bank for some loan and they refused at the last minute, this is simply an easy way of making money. give it a try boys if you have the money Well i realised most people don't just have $5,000 or more just sitting in their bank accounts and thats why i proposed buying repossesed cars first. You could get a repossesed car for under $1000 and make a huge profit by selling it. After doing that for sometime you should have enough money to buy a foreclosed house (and if you don't, then go back to Nigeria and ask for forgiveness from anyone you might have offended). Besides, some of those houses sell for no down payment. In that case, the problem must be that people are not really aware of this market. According to economics, the prices should be jacked up as people become more aware of these sales (if they are auctions) or there should be scarcity of such homes due to rushing (if they are selling at fixed low prices). Segun, how many such homes have you actually bought and sold? 3 and i made a $500,000 profit. Instead of Laughing, explain it to the Young man, let him understand. Well, i expect anyone who reads this to be smart enough to know that you have to do some personal research before making any big financial move. And i can talk so bluntly because i don't expect anything from anyone reading this i just believe if there are more rich Nigerians maybe someone will have enough sense to try to make some changes in Nigeria/Africa. And incase you don't know, 90% of the rich folks in the u.s made their money through some kind of real estate. People are aware but it does not only end in just buying item, there are down sides to it. Which means for example, the cars are second hand, and anything second hand in the US is sold at lower prices. Interms of the housing, House is a landed property and they treat it diffrently, I am sure there are line ups of real estate agents waiting for banks to liquidate housing, they buy it and propel the prices. google for forclosure homes, Well you see some people are aware of it but most people aren't. This is the harsh truth, most of the people who don't know about it are either from minority races or really poor white folks. With hiphop promoting the rich lifestyle, more people are trying to imitate what they see and buying stuff they can't afford, like a 22'' rim on a chrysler gt, when you not even worth half the price of the thing. My point is: More people are getting to know about foreclosed homes, but there are even more who don't know how to get in on the action. Besides, there are so many of this things you don't have to sweat if someone beats you to a particular sale, because tomorrow there will be another house. |

Everyone keeps talking about this financial aids being sent to "Africa", but how many people have actually seen or noticed any improvement entirely due to this "Foreign Financial Aid"? This guys show adverts of bony black kids, trying to get people to donate, but if you look close enough at those kids you will realise that they are the same kids that were used some years back, and the child shows no improvement or anything. As we say it: won pass, won fail won kuro n class (dem no pass, dem no fail, dem no comot class). Do they mean to tell me that the same child they showed me two years ago still looks the same way as he did the last time they showed him. keep your cookies for your burkina faso kids, these families i am helping out really needs somebodies help too, charity is not only about giving money to unesco or to oxfam, our people still need us You make it sound like this is some kind of competition to see who is helping the most. |
Business / Re: Buying And Selling Repossessed Cars And Foreclosed Homes by segun06: 5:58am On Mar 13, 2006 |
When you don't pay your mortgage bills, eventually the bank will reposess your home, hence your house becomes foreclosed. And the same things goes for the repossessed car, the only difference is that the money you pay monthly is not called a mortgage payment, its call something else (can't remember). I don't really know why they are sold at such a low price, but i think its because the banks want to get back its money and so they auction off the home and get back their money. You can do your own research, as for me i really don't care why they're sold at such a low price, as long as its legal, in good shape and easy to sell then i'm all for it. |
Business / Buying And Selling Repossessed Cars And Foreclosed Homes by segun06: 7:22am On Mar 12, 2006 |
If You Live In The U.s, This Might Change Your Life I have found a path to financial freedom, that is accessible to anyone with some capital and resides in the u.s. I realized that there are three major classes we need to go through to reach financial freedom. We need to move from working class to middle class and then to super rich, and we can easily do this by buying repossessed goods, that is goods that have been repossessed by banks. A repossessed good is sold at incredibly low prices, but it still has the same quality as a brand new good. Here is the path I've chose to my financial freedom. 1. buy repossessed cars at incredibly low prices and then sell them at their market price. Save at least 50% of the profits. 2. Use the saved money to buy a foreclosed home and then sell it at its market price. Repeat until you're satisfied. Now of course to start this u need to have some money to start with, but it will be a small amount of money. Try it out, u have so little to lose and so much to gain. Plus, its a legal hustle, and it doesn't matter how many people are doing it because there will always be repossessed goods. Note: This is not a scam, if you don't believe anything I've said then do the research for yourself. Or google "repossessed properties" or "foreclosed homes". Hope u use your money towards making Nigeria a better place |

Ijebuman, u should think about running for presidency. You definitely have my vote. However, u said: It's a true act of charity to African kids that you don't even know. The money they get makes a difference between life and death. One of the kids i sponsor is somewhere in Burkina Faso, its a small price to pay every month to make a difference in the life of a kid who would not have had any chance at all.God forbid but, what if something bad was to happen to you, then what will happen to the child you are sponsoring? I do not think money is the best answer to the problems in Africa. I think what we all need is the right type of knowledge and its apllication. Because knowledge is much more easier to pass on than money, and being that we are in the "information age" you can get the right type of knowlegde and its application, through the internet. If you can pass the knowlegde and its right apllication to those less fortunate, then it wouldn't matter what happens to u, because the child would have the knowlegde to succeed. I'm not saying u shouldn't sponsor a child or a whole tribe, i just don't see where it will lead like what will happen when the child grows up and he/she is still hungry and homeless, will u still b there? |
Politics / Re: U.s. Scores Nigeria Low On Human Rights, Corruption by segun06: 6:13am On Mar 12, 2006 |
I don't think the U.S or anyother country has the right to score Nigeria. While the report might be true, what purpose does it serve? and how does that help Nigeria in a positive way? Isn't it time we stopped talking and started acting? No country is perfect so why should one country judge another? |
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Problem: Is It The Container Or The Content? by segun06: 5:57am On Mar 12, 2006 |
I'ld say its the contents because if the contents can come together for the good of the container then everyone will be gay. |
Politics / Re: Are You Proud Of Nigeria? by segun06: 6:54am On Mar 09, 2006 |
you sound like you do have an inferiority complex. You are ashamed to be both african and i won't be far from the mark to say u're also ashamed of your color. All I'm saying is this: the way Africa is being portrayed in the media is very degrading, and its not just Americans degrading us. And for us to just stand there and watch them degrade the home of all black people doesn't speak well of us as a people. All the great people you mentioned did make us proud, but the media rarely talks about them so their achievements are not well known, meanwhile they are degrading us everyday. And you said shame on me for not standing up for my continent/ country, well who is standing up for us anyway, you? We need action not words. |
Politics / Re: Are You Proud Of Nigeria? by segun06: 7:22am On Mar 08, 2006 |
Agreed, while the media is bias there are some of the things they associate with us appears to be true. They think we are too stupid to take care of ourselves, thats true in the sense that we don't realize that to make something better we have to make some positive changes and even when we do realize that, we are too stupid to carry it out. The Nigerian youth spends his/her time worshiping the same guys who thinks he/she is still an homo erectus. |

I will create a very big group of companies (which include schools, Food production, textile, Health Care and transportation), which employs univeristy graduates as soon as they graduate. Of course eventually the company will run out of space for new people, so i will create a branch in the poor African countries thereby helping them by creating employment and also teaching them how to improve their way of living. And its not so bad that by doing so I'm adding more value to the NAIRA. |

I'm gong to explain each of your requirements: 1)Gain congressional support. (congress is filled with mostly rich folks, and all they want is some way for them to get richer). 2)Gain national support. (Nobody really cares about what happens in Africa that much, all the government need to do is to call Nigeria an Islamic country) 3) Gain international support to do so! (Did they have any before the war in Iraq?) 4) Come up with the billions needed to successfully stage such an attack. (All they have to do is increase tax) 5) Find a bordering staging point (supporting boarding nation) in which to launch their land invasion from! (Do you think CAmeroon won't give us up in a second?) 6)Implement a draft, in order to come up with the at the least, 300,000 solders in which would be needed to successfully attack, defeat and hold in occupation a nation like Nigeria. (All they have to do is go to the black neighborhoods and draft some soldiers; black folks are too busy worrying about their "kicks" to protest) |
