FamilyAre You A Wasted Youth? Come, Let's Find Out... by sekem(op):
Youths of today are the future of our tomorrow, they say. But what will you then say when you find out that the majority of youths of today are nothing but already wasted?

There’s fire on the mountain. Something needs to be done to arrest this astronomical increase in the number of wasted youths we are witnessing in our present day.

But first, before we do that, we need to identify who these wasted youths are.

So, how do you identify a wasted youth?

Well, a wasted youth...

Hardly reads
In fact, he does not read. This is one of the easiest ways to spot a wasted youth. Apart from reading his Facebook or twitter updates and maybe his textbooks. That is where his reading stops.

Novels, financial books, journals, even currents affairs is not really his thing. Of course, he’ll proudly and openly tell you he doesn’t have time for any of that nonsense!

Listen to this. If you are suspecting any youth in your vicinity to be a wasted youth, just ask him or her to tell the last novel he actually read and when he read it.

Don’t be surprised to find out that some of them have not read any literature in the past ten years!

Now tell me, how will such a person’s mind grow or develop!?

Readily follows bandwagon
This is probably because following bandwagon is easier. A wasted youth is incapable of having original thought or opinion of his own so you don’t expect him to do anything else except follow popular opinion—even ridiculously insane opinions!

Has no idea of his or her purpose in life.

A wasted youth has no plans for his future. He would rather rely on what his parents, friends, employers, pastors, cult leaders, politicians, etc, tells him will favour him.

But do you really blame him? Because a wasted youth has no purpose for life, he is bound to be a confused being.

And who is the easiest person to push around if not a confused person!

Is very vain
Yes, vain as in primarily concerned with things like sǝx, fashion, football, Facebook...

You know you won’t catch his interest by talking about novels and book. Try sǝx. He will suddenly come alive.

We see it everyday even here on Nairaland. Make an intelligent post on Nairaland or Facebook. Ask an intellectually stimulating question. It will just be as if most of these wasted youths will see it but just jump an’ pass.

Someone is talking about blogging or how to get a Google AdSense account approved; only few people respond. But now, let’s make the topic to be something related to sǝx. Oh yeahhhh, now you come!!! Omo, come see traffic!!! Come see responses...

These youths are so interested in knowing who is having sǝx with who, which celeb is 'doing' another celeb, which celeb is sharing her nudǝ image on Instagram, the latest sǝx positions or styles, the latest sǝx scandal, etc.

Funny isn’t it?

A wasted youth is a confused youth!

But it’s not only sǝx that that easily catches his attention.

For some of them, they like talking about money but not in the sense a reasonable person will talk about it.

Truth is that a wasted youth will like to discuss about how much football stars, movie icons and music stars are making. He will not waste time to calculate for you the worth of most of these stars, or how much their jewels, mansions, cars all cost.

Some wasted youths even take it too far by going into drugs. Isn’t it amazing the number of our youths—both males and females—who are now into smoking ‘Igbo’ these days? That will show you the level of ‘wasted-ness’ engulfing our society today.

One thing most of these youths who have already given their life over to SK don’t know is that the problems you are most likely trying to escape from will never go until you decide to tackle it.

Knows next to nothing about business
Yes. A wasted youth is bereft of business ideas. If you think this is a lie, just challenge any youth around you, you suspect to be wasted to give just one business idea.

Most likely, he or she will go into defensive and start telling you that we all are not supposed to be entrepreneurs.

But I laugh.

Yes, we all cannot be entrepreneurs. But who’s even talking about being an entrepreneur here? I say just give me one... any business idea.

The wasted youths got it all wrong. This is because when you are talking about business to the wasted youth, his wasted mind is already thinking about Dangote.

That’s what business means to him.

Now, who will help me tell a wasted youth that business is simply all about solving people’s problems and providing services that will take care of peoples’ needs?

He won’t take up any responsibility
It is never his fault. He is always ready to pointing fingers. Always looking for someone to blame. He will not waste time to blame his parents, blame his lecturer, blame the government, blame the society at large for not being where he thinks he should be.

What a sense of entitlement!

Let me give you an example how most wasted youths I have come in contact with do think. I do this for fun, by the way.

Just call him aside and ask him how he fared in his exams assuming the result are out.

If he got grade A, he’ll say to you, “I got A!”

If he failed, he’ll say to you, “The lecturer gave me F!”

Wasted youth eh... very funny set of people!

Thinks certificate is education
A wasted youth will never fail to remind you that he or she is educated and has a certificate. He’ll be quick to tell you that he is a first class, a 2.1, a 2.2, a master’s degree holder in one course like that...

BusinessWho Wants To Be A Billionaire? by sekem(op): 10:29am On Mar 18, 2017
So you want to be a billionaire?

Alright listen to this, I got it from a friend on Facebook.

If your boss pay you N30,000 per month, assuming you decided to save all without touching a dime, it will take you 36 months to make N1million.

Did I hear you say 3years!?

Absolutely!

But if on the other hand, if you can convince an organisation like Dangote Group to print and supply 5000 umbrellas to them (to be used as souvenirs) and you make just N200 profit per umbrella, in just one day you must have made N1million.

What about becoming a billionaire?

That’s where it gets really crazy!

OK, now let's increase your pay to N1,000,000 per month and you decide to save all without touching a dime. In a year, you must have saved N12 million.

It will take about 84 years before you can make N1billion(Please subtract your current age).

But on the other hand, let’s say Nigeria has a population of about 200 million people. If you can supply salt to just 12 million, once in a month and you make just N200 from each person supplied, then in one year, you must have made N2.4billion!

This shows that to become rich, you have to stop talking to bosses and start talking to clients.

You have to stop thinking inside the box and even stop thinking outside the box...

Yes...the box is still a limitation...

You have no idea what your mind is capable of, do you!?

This is what you have to do...

SET YOUR MIND FREE AND THINK LIKE THERE IS NO BOX...

The possibilities are endless...

And that, my friend, is how you can become a billionaire!

I will now simply try to explain the whole process to the best of my ability just in case you didn’t get the moral of the story very well.

To become a billionaire, or rather, to become a millionaire because I think that one is simpler, you will need.

A product
Yes, you need a product or products you will have to ‘sell’ to others. It might be a physical product. It might be a non-physical product but the truth is there must be a product to sell.

In the story above, the product was stuff like umbrellas, salt.

A targeted market
Yes, you need to know those who will want your product. Those people are your targeted market. As part of knowing your market very well, it will be also be good if you can factor in the possible number buyers in your market. This will enable you to know when you eventually hit your profit.

In the story above, the targeted market was politicians, political rallies, everybody who uses salt but as you can see, the targeted market was still made up of an estimated number of people.

A price
Of course, you need to fix a fair price for your product. Your price shouldn’t be too costly for those who want to patronize you. At the same time, your price shouldn’t be so cheap that your buyers will start thinking your product is inferior.

Knowing the price of your product will surely help in calculating your profit. It will also serve as the feedback in calculation how well your market received your product.

Once you have all these in place, get ready because you are now ready to become a millionaire.

TV/Movies20 Very Useful Things You Should Be Doing Instead Of Watching Big Brother Naija by sekem(op):
The debate is on: Big Brother Naija(BBN) reality TV show, to watch or not to watch. What really spurred this debate was that disturbing evidence that it seems like so many folks are already hooked unto the show, albeit secretly.

The naysayers who strongly say people should not watch it have made their point. They argued that the BBN is totally pointless, promotes indecency, teaches nothing… bla… bla… bla… bla…

But the ‘aye aye’ who love the show to bits strongly counters all that by saying, “If you don’t like the show, simply turn your TV off!”

Epic!

Totally!!

I love that!!!

So after listening to both sides of the party and argument, here’s my final verdict.

Sorry guys, but I will go with the naysayers.

Not because of the promotion of immorality point of view of the argument. Me, being somewhat amoralist, I don’t really give an eff whether the show promotes indecency or not, teaches something or not... what else did they say about the show again…?

Yes, I don’t.

So why then would I go with the naysayers?

Okay, listen.

First of all, I don’t see any point in the show.

O yes!

I've asked some people on different several occasions to tell me what the show is really all about and all they could tell me was that Big Brother—whoever he or she may be—just wants to show you how people do behave in their homes—most especially when no one is watching!

What?!

Based on that, I can safely conclude that the BBN show is all about PRETENSE. Fact is, you will never really get the true behaviour of people because once anything is done under camera, that very act is very much susceptible to ‘acting’.

So what’s the point there, I ask again?

But that’s not even my main grouse with the TV show.

You see, I am a true businessman and like all businessmen will always tell you, time is money.

True that.

So, the way I see it, the BBNaija show is nothing but a typical classical time waster of a TV show.

Who do I blame now?

Is the youth sitting comfortably at home in front of his TV with all the time in the world in his hand idling away while watching another set of youths playing or should I say, 'acting' for the 25 million naira prize money?

Or…

Should I blame the government that has failed to provide the jobs that will keep these youths very busy?

Well…

Truth is, I don’t really like blaming anyone.

But rather, I try to provide an alternative—a better alternative—yes, the businessman’s way!

So let me tell you now 20 very productive things I will be doing instead of watching Big Brother Naija if I were you.

Take a look…

Call a friend
Yes, I might as well go through my phone book and call a friend.

Check it, there are so many of your friends you may not have talked to in a very long while, right?

Don’t you think they will appreciate it if you give them a call? You know, something like a surprise call?

Good. So do it now. And thank me later.

Do some gym
A healthy mind in a healthy body. I agree, totally.

So I might as well steal the precious time I allocate in staying in front of the TV to just work on my body.

Lift a couple of weights. Jog. Skip. Frog jump. Exercise. Just do any physical activity that will get you sweating and help boost the circulation of blood in your body flowing nicely and also help you beat that sluggishness.

Your body will be better off, believe me.

Write an article
And talking about exercising your body, it won’t be such a bad idea to exercise your mental muscles too.

And what a better way to exercise your mental muscle than by writing an article just like I am writing this very one for you right now?

In writing an article, you will surely and fully engage your focus capacity and thinking powers to boost your general mental prowess. Your power of imagination will equally receive a boost. Your vocabulary might add up a notch.

And the best part?

You will become more intelligent… just like me! cool

Watching BBNaija will never do any of these gloriously wonderful things for you.

Duhhh!

Dust up my CV
Most likely, I'm assuming you're still looking for a job and that’s the reason why you have so much time on your hands right now.

So well, it’s time to dust up your CV. Time to change or modify the format or style of your CV.

Don’t you think it’s high time you stop sending the same CV to different recruiting agencies or companies?

Please switch off that telly right now and get to work, okay?

Write my business proposal
You don’t even necessarily need a job to survive.

Yes, you can start your own business.

In fact, this is very much advised because the way the world is positioned now, getting a job does not offer the type of security as it used to.

So you will be doing yourself a lot of good if you can figure out multiple ways of earning some more income.

This is why I suggest you write your own business proposal.

Do it now.

Just leave Big Brother Naija alone for now and start thinking about your own life and future.

Do you have any good business idea? What is holding you back from getting it started? Visualize and speculate on how much financial resource you think you will need to get your business off the ground.

Try to have fun in imagining the likely problems you might face in starting up your business and how you can tackle those challenges.

Try to imagine or figure out how you can raise funds or start up capital for your business.

You’ll agree with me that doing things like these is far more productive that wasting a couple of hours of your life that you will never get back again in front of your screen watching other people who may actually be—for all what it’s worth—on their path of business or fame.

So don’t be left behind.

Don’t just sit there and watch the world happen.

Get involved. It’s your own business… your own life… for crying out loud!

Catch up on some news
We live in the information age today.

Believe it or not, the only major or remarkable difference between people in terms of their worth, ambition, potential and suchlike these days simply boils down to the information they possess.

So many people do not know what is really going on in the world around them. Thus, when you discuss with them, you easily find out that they are so limited in their thoughts and in their actions.

Don’t be one of such people.

Tune in to the news and get yourself informed.

Do my school assignment
So many students have formed the bad habit of leaving their school assignment undone until the last minute.

Some are waiting for others to do it so that they can copy. Some are hoping that the lecturer will not remember to ask them to submit the assignment. Some don’t even know that an assignment was even given.

Whatever!

But listen to me right now.

Have you ever heard of Parkinson’s law which states that work expands to fill the time available for its completion?

Well, what this law is trying to say is that if you leave your assignment undone, you will find that a time will come when even the smallest assignments will be taking you so many hours to complete because you will thinking of so many other tasks that are equally begging for your attention.

Thus leaving you confused and undecided on which tasks to tackle first thereby increasing the time you will be needing to complete any of the tasks awaiting you.

This is why it’s good you form the habit of tackling your assignments immediately.

Therefore, switch off that television now.

And go and do your assignment right now.

Yes, first things first.

You say wetin...?

That you don't have any assignments?

So what?!

My friend give yourself one and stop making noisy excuses!

Jobs/Vacancies10 Reasons Why You Are Still Looking For A Job by sekem(op): 8:30pm On Mar 15, 2017
Are you still looking for a job? Well, you are not alone. So many people are also in the same boat as you.

But have you ever considered that you could actually be the cause why you have kept on searching with nothing meaningful in sight?

Well, here, let's take a look. These are some of the reasons why your job search has proven to be abortive so far.

You don’t know what a job really is
As funny as this might sound, so many folks out there who deem themselves unemployed actually don’t know what a job is really all about.

You might be one of them.

Generally speaking, so many people think a job is all about having an office and probably, a boss too.

To them a job is simply a place where you dress up and go to every day of the week, spend some time there, perform certain tasks and get paid at the end of the week or month as the case might be.

In their own understanding, if or once you have a place where you can go and do all that, you are not jobless.

But in truth, that's a very narrow minded way of defining a job or what constitutes a job.

Simple as it sounds, that’s not really what a job is all about.

It goes beyond that.

And until you are able to figure out the so many aspects of what could possible turn out to be a job for you; you might remain unemployed for a very long time.

For your information, people have so many needs.

And because people have these needs that must be satisfied, we can then talk about job opportunities.

Certain things like someone’s passion, pains, problems, complaints, dreams and aspirations, experience, fears, ambition, interest, hobbies, etc, can and does constitute a job opportunity too.

Thus, a job is all about your ability to figure out how to exploit these opportunities and provide the right services that will provide for or satisfy those needs of yours and others.

A job is all about connecting sellers with buyers.

A job is all about informing or showing people new or better ways of doing things.

A job is all about helping existing companies in getting more sales.

A job is all about honing into your special skills or talents to provide people with entertainment.

A job is all about providing or rendering certain types of services to people who need them.

So you see, a job can actually be so many things and if you don't know these things; how can you even expect to recognize that opportunity staring boldly at you in the face right now as a job?

Now, it's all up to you to find or figure out how you can be of help to another person and hopefully get paid from doing so.

If you cannot do this; then you will probably keep on searching and searching... in vain, of course!

You have a dependency mentality
This one really needs no explanation. Some people would rather depend on others to get for them the things they need rather than go and get it by themselves.

If you fall into this category, chances are you are never going to stop looking for that job.

Don’t put all your hope in a man says the wise man.

Learn to do things for yourself.

Stop depending or waiting until that man or woman or friend or acquaintance that promised a job somewhere finally remembers you.

Take action.

Now.

Take initiative.

That way, you will serve you better.

You cannot create a job
If you are bent on finding a job, stop now.

If you have been trying for so long to get yourself hooked up to a job without any success yet, stop now.

Stop and ask yourself this: what type of job am I even looking for?

Once you do that, then ask yourself this other follow up question: how did that job come into place?

By the time you are through with pondering on some of these important questions, I’m so sure you might have started realizing that you can actually do the same thing which those people who created those jobs you are seeking for did.

That is why I mentioned earlier that job is all about identifying those needs or problems that people do have and then finding a way to provide for or solve them.

That is exactly how jobs are created.

So stop thinking like an employee all the time.

And start thinking like an employer, for once!

You don’t have a definite plan
They say if you don’t plan well, you plan to fail.

Look around you; you will see how nature is so well planned.

Planning is the one undeniable essence of success.

Start to make your own plans now.

Stop putting it off or hoping that someone will help you plan your own life for you.

Take charge now.

Plan your life.

Stop leaving everything to chance.

Try to imagine or foresee a future problems and then see if you can fashion out ways on how to tackle such problems and provide their solutions when the times come.

Plan where you want to be at a given point in your life. Try to figure out the things you might need in getting yourself from your present situation to the status you want to be sometime in the future.

And then, take the necessary basic steps to get everything going.

You don’t really understand the reality on the ground
The reality on the ground is that times have changed. The old ways of doing things are gradually but steadily fading away and are being replaced by new and better ways of doing them.

The reality on the ground is that technology is rendering so many jobs obsolete.

The reality on the ground is that relying solely on your certificate to get you a ‘good job’ is no longer advisable.

The reality on the ground is that you need to acquire some more skills if you really need to survive in our fast changing world.

The reality on the ground is that you will need to adopt a new method of tackling the problems facing the present society we find ourselves in rather than hoping or wishing that it won’t come to that point where your old ways of doing things will never work again.

If you haven’t realized any of these things up till this moment, then you may be having a very big problem in your hands already—even without knowing it.

You are too comfortable in your comfort zone
Of course.

Who doesn’t like his comfort zone?

I for one, I know I do.

Your comfort zone is always safe and has little or no problems with familiar faces and familiar scenes all around us.

Your comfort zone is always guaranteed to be that very place where we are cocooned from most of the worldly problems with people who love us taking care and providing almost all of our everyday needs.

But there’s a very big problem with your comfort zone.

Because it will never allow you to grow as a person.

People grow from challenges they face and the experience they get from there.

But your comfort zone constantly robs you off this very important aspect of life.

So you need to do everything within your powers to tear yourself away from your comfort zone now!

That is, if you really want to build up as well as toughen up your survival skills.

You are still waiting for the government
This is one of the biggest problems I have with most Nigerian youths.

Similar to what I stated earlier when I talked about having dependency mentality, somehow, so many of our Nigerian youths still believe and are even waiting for the government to get things right and fix them with a ‘good’ and well deserving job.

But remember what I said about reality on the ground earlier?

The truth is that it is so very obvious that the government is totally overwhelmed with the task of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths.

It’s very glaring and shocking but it is the bitter truth.

So any right thinking youth now should get busy.

No time to waste on waiting anymore.

Take the initiative now.

Just look around you and try to find a place in the society that you can fill and start making yourself legally useful rather than waiting for the government to get everything right because if you decide to continue waiting, you may wait for eternity!

Again, it’s very shocking but it is the bitter truth.

You have a certificate
For so many our youths, their certificate makes them think they are above certain jobs.

Some of our youths develop a type of ludicrous 'entitlement' mentality all because of the certificate/s they've got whereas some even go as far as believing that once they acquire the all-important certificate, that everything will then fall into place for them.

But in our present world, I don’t think that is really the case.

The earlier you awaken up to the fact that your certificate will get you nowhere special—most especially—in our world today where there are millions and millions of others having that same certificate or qualification you possess, I think, the earlier you will get serious, sit up, understand and get ready to face the competition for jobs that is ahead of you.

My advice for you: just put your certificate aside because there's nothing special about it since we all have it too and focus on getting more and more useful skills.

That is what really matters now.

You are totally unemployable
Let's face the truth.

Wailers have been quiet lately.

What do you expect?

No man can wail endlessly.

The worst part is when you keep on praying for your enemy to die but it seems your enemy is waxing even stronger.

That alone can silence anyone.

Vorpal:
So is she now giving excuse for uncouth women to run their mouth? It's okay for her to run her mouth and say any degrading thing about her husband, and the dude should just "walk away"?

I still don't understand why all these warnings her one sided. Why don't she warn women to not provoke the man to blinding rage? Or is it all men the have equal temperaments?
Don't mind the bìatch

Walk away my foot!

Why can't your foul mouth walk away?

The principle for handling women who run their uncouth mouth is still the same: You have your right to freedom of speech but I cannot guarantee what happens after you use that right!

The bìatch is not even yet married and she's already giving conditions!
