By all means japa don’t even think twice about it. I’m in Same age bracket with you , even tho I don’t have a personal house to my name but I have series of properties and can make atleast 1m-3m a month and I wish I left 2 years ago or atleast started the process when my wife told me. I’m comfortable in Nigeria too but with the situation of thing’s going on, It seems Nigeria would get worse with Time. Even if not for yourself , think about the future of your kids. My advice for you. >> start learning IT skill this period before you make the move. I mean immediately . I’m currently learning cyber security and would do that for the whole of this 2024 then 2025 I leave this country. Meanwhile I’m on the process of canada PR because I still believe going as PR is the best shot and If that doesn’t work out the student route would be our option but my wife would be schooling while i work hopefully I land an IT job in cybersecurity because I want to fully ground my self this year in cybersecurity and also learn truck driving by the side . Relocation is good but you have to have a set out plans and road map so you don’t get frustrated . I already know how things work in the western world with peoples experiences I read on Nairaland. Having a skill gives you that confidence to Travel with little fears. That’s probably the reason I didn’t think of relocating the last 2 years. U need a soft IT skill to gain confidence for relocation. There’s no quarantee you would get job immediately but having atleast one or two hot skills and improving yourself gives you hope that you would get something someday. I used to ask this Same questions on Nairaland a few years ago but trust me most people would discourage you and tell you how you’re doing better and how abroad is harder etc. Even if not for anything , having a second passport is the best thing a man coming from Nigeria can ever do for his family . I see no future in this country honestly and it’s better you leave now or you might end up regretting not leaving or starting the process even in the next 2-3 years not to talk of 10 years. Start learning skills right away. I’m not even in the corporate world like you. I’ve been a crypto and forex trader for years and hav never worked for any1 but I’m willing and ready to learn IT skill that would make me stand out. Abroad is never easy no doubt but frankly It’s far better. I remember a friend told me 2 years ago that this my crypto trading I can do it abroad too but I was so sturbon I even warned my wife not to mention abroad to me again. Well it’s never too late. My happiness is I realized on time. Imagine getting to 40 years before you realize lol. It’s still early my guy don’t even think twice start planning but equip yourself first with skills and save more. No rush. 1 Like |

PoliteActivist:For me stay in Nigeria for atleast 6 months and save money. If possible 1 year. You can’t work with a visitor visa. don’t ruin ur visa. Save enough money since you already got 10 years visa no issue. Ur plan should be permanent resident route with work experience. If you’re old for marriage get married and start the pr process with ur wife. 500k is change. Naira is useless right now that’s just $500. You might not make a lot of money in Canada due to tax and inflation but atleast after a few years you will have ur citizenship which is the most important. With your citizenship u can relocate to any country of ur choice hassle free or come back to Nigeria if u wish. Ur target should be a second passport for urself and kids. And by the way pls how easy was it getting ur visitor visa cos I plan on getting one for my my child birth. How long did it take? How much was in your acnt and the necessary documents ur submitted. Thanks |

Greetings my people, after careful consideration , I would like to go through express entry and I can see from this thread sask is a good province with low cost of living for a newbie from Nigeria . I calculated my wife’s sinp score base on a few facts that’s available and possible and got above 70 points. 1. My wife is the main applicant with a bsc degree in human resource management . She has a one year nysc working experience with NSITF( Nigerian social insurance trust fund) as a Human resource assistant . I don’t know if that counts. And also she managed a restaurant for a year. 2.she hasn’t written ielts but with good preparation, we would try to score 7+ (I intend to write it too) 3. She has two married cousins in Canada with PR. One of them has been a resident for 4 years + but haven’t confirmed the province they live yet. 4. Our age range is withing 22-35 5, I have a degreee In petroleum Engr but yet to get my cert due to the high outstanding fees I’m owing and also since I might not be using the cert as i Inted to go the tech route or study something else. Pls I want to know if we qualify with these facts listed Above and if no, what areas do we need to upgrade. Study route is also an option but I think our best shot should be the PR since it would make things easier. Also what’s the advice for a dependant coming with just waec cert as I don’t intend to collect my cert or would I need it? Advice pls from people here would really go a long way. I don’t want to make any mistake or have any regrets |

What would you’ve done differently if you where still in naija about to make such decision. Mcslize:Thanks for the advice. I think the technical analysis is spot on. But sometimes market conditions beats all technical analysis, bad news also drive price, future its basically for altcoins in good exchanges and it’s also the fastest way to get liquidated if you’re not careful. Technical analysis imo works better with forex compared to crypto but still good to know it. What I do is hodl solid altcoins for long term and trade meme coins. So everyday I hunt for the next shiny meme coins to make quick bucks and sell, reinvest them into solid projects for the bull run. Hodling strong altcoins beats trading them on the long run. And yes I’m a full time trader. I got burnt a lot this bear season which is normal. Even the best traders have huge losses. It’s just time consuming to trade all dY. Future trading is worse. U can get heart attack with future even with all the technical analyses lmao. If I can hit my target this coming bull run, I will do less trading and more of hodling while I focus on physical business like real estate etc. thanks for your input 2 Likes |

LandMann:Thank you sir. I think you’re right in some part. I stopped learning simply becos I can’t combine coding for hours and trading for hours. The coding time was making me miss out a lot of trading opportunities. I’m really not good at multitasking especially two fields that demands same attention. One would suffer. I’m literally on my pc and phone from morning till night watching charts and looking for the next coin to buy. It’s really not easy, if at all I want to go into tech, it has to be a less demanding one so I can still trade crypto |

genkins:Raising money for bull run is not at issue cos I currently have a few coins like $dione $rio $ator that would do well in bull run. Also relocating doesn’t come fast like that. It takes atleast 1 year. Any plans I have is after bull run. If it doesn’t works out the way I foresee then I have to leave or use the available resource I have to set up a biz. Yes they are in good locations. I have a single property valued at 37m in a top estate. I don’t intend selling them to travel though. Even if I have to travel it would probably take a year or two, by then I would have generate enough money from crypto. That’s my fear too. 9-5 scares me like crazy. Travel / Relocate Or Stay In Nigeria (serious Dilemma ) by Selfkontrol: 1:33pm On Jun 12, 2023 |
Good day Nairalanders. Pls I need some mature advice because I’ve been in a dilemma for a long time now concerning relocating abroad or staying back in Nigeria. First of all I’m not a japa advocate. I believe if you’re doing well in Nigeria then there’s no point relocating abroad but I feel there’s so much uncertainty and I don’t know what the future holds for me in this country. Now I’m a married man of 30 years. I will turn 31 by this September. We have no child yet but wife is preg now. I have a B.Eng in petroleum Engineering but have never worked in my life. My current business is crypto trading which I have been doing for years now. During the 2021 crypto bull run I made lot of money and acquired some properties that’s currently valued atleast 60-70m naira in total. bought my car same year and got married same year to my long time Gf, settled some family members etc . I don’t have any other investments or business aside my properties and crypto portfolio because crypto trading has taken all my time and I won’t complain because so far it has been good. Making money in dollars while in Nigeria is bliss. Even though we have been in bear season since 2022, I still make some money every now and then that’s sustainable for now until we hit another bull run which is likely to happen from next year 2024. My fear lies here, on the long run crypto trading is not sustainable. If not for 2021 bull run I don’t think I would be in this position and even the projected bull run next year is not 100% certain I plan on learning a programming skill which is very difficult, I tried learning it late last year but stopped along the line because it was distracting me from trading and missing some opportunities in crypto because making money is most important. Coding would probably take me a few years before I start earning even though it is sustainable long term but crypto trading can be life changing but not sustainable long term . It’s more like a gamble most times. My plan A, is to gather enough money from now till 2025 which is the duration of the projected bull run if it happens and start investing in real estate development, Like building and selling and other businesses too but I don’t know how feasible that is in our present day Nigeria and if I don’t make my target amount, I might have to start with the available resources present. plan B, gather some money, learn a skill then relocate to Canada with my family via study route since I don’t have any real work experience aside crypto trading but that would mean me going to study and starting afresh. For my wife, she also has a degree in Human Resources with just nysc as working experience. She learnt wig making and installation and has been doing her online biz selling wigs etc. Abroad folks, what are my chances abroad considering my current profile. Is it worth it coming over there to start afresh And build? I have heard so many things how it’s hard getting a job and you have to rely on survival jobs for the first few years expecially for someone without any work experience. I really don’t like joining the bandwagon cos everyone seems to be leaving, I love to weigh my options and hate taking unnecessary risk that might lead to regrets, at the same time don’t want to regret not leaving since I’m still young and have the opportunity that’s why I’m here asking these questions to learn from experienced and matured family men home and abroad the action they would take. We learn everyday, For my unborn kids, if everything checks out, my plan is to give birth to them in either Canada or US for the passport and raise them in Nigeria and when they are grown, send them to study there and that is only if I’m not relocating. And if I’m relocating, what are the in-demand skills and professions I have to take since it’s clear I might be going to school because I hate survival jobs. What is your advice pls. Mature advice pls. Thank you 🙏 @justwise @Disguy 32 Likes 4 Shares |
