It's actually strange seeing a grown up man loving Nigeria match that are mostly eye sore but find it difficult to watch a fascinating match like EPL?

You don't get it. For me, it's not about the quality of the football or how exciting the matches are. It's about feeling passionate and being emotionally invested to support a team., and I do not have that for any European club. Maybe, it's just patriotic fervour but I'll rather watch a Super Falcons match in WAFCON than an EPL match between Liverpool and Arsenal.

Just like my former roomie. I had to force him to the field and view centre but he chose a club even though the one he chose was not my favorite but I was glad he now support one trophyless club like that for London.

This one na herd mentality, and follow follow. Because everybody get club and dey support Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Madrid, Barca etc no mean say make I choose club and join support too. I feel no connection to those clubs. Your one goal is needed theory is not absolute as it depends first on Madagascar, Burkina Faso, and Uganda not picking 3 points in their respective games and fourthly depends on South Africa drawing or losing, and fifthly in case CAF makes a U TURN on Head-to-Head it depends on our not getting more yellow cards.

Yes, but the best approach is to be ultra defensive, and try to score against the run of play.

Kudos to Zimbabwe for weathering the storm and keeping us in it. Never thought they'd get a favourable result for us against SA but they did it, despite playing with 10 men from the 18th minute.

William Troost Ekong - I have never really rated him but he went to AFCON 2023 and put in a 2006 World cup Cannavaro-esque performance to emerge MVP. Stellar performance from him then, so I thought he'd fixed the knicks in his game and finally turned the corner but, apparently not so.

He's been atrocious this entire WCQs campaign. Refused to stretch out his leg to intercept and mark the Zimbabwean striker in Uyo for fear of causing a penalty. and effectively cost us the 3 points. Also, scored an own goal against SA under no pressure. If we no qualify he should rightly get a lot of flak, and we should begin the closure of his chapter by easing him into a non-starting captain role like Ahmed Musa.

Stanley Nwabali - performed well at the AFCON and solved our long standing goalkeeping problem since Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with cancer. But his performances this WCQ have been subpar. He's not made any brave saves that kept is in games and crossed us over the line. Against Benin Republic, the two chances the Beninoise got against him, he conceded. Ditto against Zimbabwe in Uyo. Ditto South Africa (home and away).

In addition, he's now making school boy errors, and conceding cheap goals. Also, his attitude and antics are annoying. He's belligerent and aggressive,bpushes opposing players and gets carded unnecessarily, and never accepts responsibility for his wrongdoings. Rather, he'd argue with teammates and want to gaslight everyone that he wasn't at fault. Also, at this point, the allegations of match fixing are not so farfetched cos what the heck was the goal he conceded today, and the error he committed that almost resulted in a goal? It:s time we start looking at other goalkeeping options out there.

Finidi George - Poor. Poor. Poor. It was a costly mistake to hire him. Our ONLY defeat in this qualifiers was under him. Returned only one point from a possible 6, an atrocious 16.6% score. Bought into the home-based player hype and tried to introduce domestic quota into the team rather than invite the best performing players which backfired.

In contrast, Jose Peseiro drew 2 games and obtained 2 points from a possible 6 to score 33.3%, and Eric Chelle has won 3 and drawn 2 in 5 games. amassing 11 points from a possible 15 to score 73.3%.
Whatever the outcome on Tuesday, I hope NFf does not press the self destruct button by sacking Chelle before the AFCON.

Unlike others, I support no European. football club. and my only football passion is our national teams, particularly the Super Eagles, so I'll be gutted if we don't qualify. I pray the stars align in our favour, and that will not be the case on Tuesday. 7pm cannot come fast enough for me.

Reminds me of a clip of Pastor Sam Adeyemi that I saw on TikTok.
