Reminds me of a clip of Pastor Sam Adeyemi that I saw on TikTok.

As his wife was reading the text message to him, he was checking on google, and lo and behold, the eagle was not even in the top 10 highest flying birds.

I will categorize the Rep member's statement like that of Pastor Adeyemi on the Eagle. He was simply regurgitating what he had heard over the years without any thought that it could be wrong.

Also, he didn't need to compare Ibadan to the S/East and Bayelsa to make his point. That was tactless.

Baba, the rape angle no make sense rara. If the robbers had tried to molest her, there would have been noise, struggle, torn clothing, signs of force/physicality but none of that was mentioned anywhere.

You probably underestimate how disoriented she was during the robbery. She panicked, adrenaline kicked in, she wasn't thinking straight and she jumped out of fear for her life, and not because the robbers tried to rape her.

Until there’s a report pointing to sexual assault, the rape theory is just speculation built on emotion, not fact.

I honestly don't think she jumped simply because she was about to be robbed. You made assertions about eyewitness accounts but I doubt if there was indeed any eyewitness in the real sense of the word. I don't think the other occupants of the building who were getting robbed simultaneously would have time to peep to see whether the lady was about to be molested before she fell to her death or whether he just jumped of her own volition.

It's actually a very strange behavior that she would jump to her death to avoid losing valuables to robbers. Maybe when their trial starts we would get more details of what really transpired that night.

Were any of the other female occupants of the building physically molested?

The reason you have fire drills etal is to train people in how to react in an emergency. Eg have a plan to hide in the ceiling. In 1998/9 we were robbed in ilorin. The robbers made short work of the burglary proof (civil state artisans) but before they finally breached the window, we retreated to the kitchen store and hid there. The robbers possibly limited themselves to the bedroom, but long story short, they did not find us.

Four hours later we came out. I guess my mother may have had that plan in her head all along because she is the one who made us retreat there.

I don't believe she jumped voluntarily to her death, I think the robbers only decided to go with the narrative already going round in the media.

In my own personal opinion, I think they may have attempted to molest her and in the struggle with them she fell to her death. The robbers definitely know that if they state things the way it happened, they won't only be facing charge of armed robbery but multiple charges of murder/manslaughter. They will rather spend their life in prison instead of getting the death sentence. (bar the guy who confessed to killing the security guard)

Make I articulate my thoughts. Pls follow me reason.

1. I think she jumped off the balcony herself without any struggle. (I assume it was from the balcony because windows typically have burglary proof bars). Fear and panic can make people do that under threat conditions. Moreso, under extreme panic situations, adrenaline kicks in and the distance of the ground from a third floor balcony can suddenly appear like the distance from a car rooftop.

2. The media, eye witness, neighbours, robbers confession and police reports are all consistent in one thing - that she jumped. None reported signs of struggle or attempted molestation/assault. Also, if a/the robber(s) did try to molest her, she would have been overpowered and held in the living room/bedroom and wouldn't have made it to the balcony that she jumped from.

3. Your alignment with media narrative theory no add up. It assumes the robbers are intelligent and gives them too much credit. I mean, there is no incentive for them to adopt the media narrative.We all know the police did not extract the confession from the robbers across table interview or by promising lighter incarceration time like we see in movies. Those robbers were tortured and put through excruciating pain, and under such condition will not have the presence and clarity of mind to to align their story with the public version.

4. Your assertion that the robbers gave false confession to avoid charges of manslaughter/murder too no follow. Again, it gives too much credence to the robbers. I suspect they're illiterate or of little education. and I doubt dem sabi law like that. I also think under the law, armed robbery resulting in death attracts the death penalty in Nigeria.. So there's no real advantage in the robbers claiming she jumped and they tried to stop her unless its true

Finally, I know I'd get flak for this, but the fact that only the security guard (who was shot for trying to prevent the entry of the robbers) and Miss Somto who jumped from her 3rd floor apartment died in the whole 3-storey twin apartments building leads me to conclude that she'd be alive today if she hadn't panicked and jumped.

Despite the court judgement barring Road Safety from penalizing motorists due to faded number plates because na dem dey produce the plates and are responsible for their poor quality, dem still dey disturb people for here, especially when they're doing their joint-task force mobile court.

Part of my route to / from work na federal road, and Road Safety is always present on that stretch. Dem hold me about 4 months ago on my way to work over my faded number plates, and I used agidi and claimed right insisting there was court order barring them from holding motorists over faded number plates, but it all fell on deaf ears.

Dem enter my passenger seat and directed me to drive my car into the seized car lot, and wrote a fine of 20k for me at their mobile court tent. Funnily. enough, their mobile court was being headed by a lawyer cos he wore legal apparel.

I called a soldier bros who is an oga at the nearby military cantonment, and na hin come physically intervene before dem free me. Even at that, I had to part with 5k because dem say I don enter their book.

Last month, I jejely went to our mechanic village and got the number plate repainted just to avoid their wahala. Our uniformed men on the road no dey obey court orders, so I won't be surprised if policemen go still dey harass and extort motorists over this tinted permit.

I had a coursemate in 100L who was very good in graphics. He once confided in me that the number of forged documents he had done for people long before he gained admission was so much he can't remember. He dsigned checks for yahoo boys and also produces any university degree certificate for anyone who needs it.

I was shocked and thought he was just trying to impress me with cocck and bull story. I asked him how he will forge documents like WAEC certificate that has that shiny hologram that needs to pass mercury light test before it can be confirmed as genuine. Do you know what he told me? He said that shiny hologram is the cheapest thing to get for him; he said the shiny hologram was sold for N100 at Oju-irin at Mushin. (Anybody in Lagos knows Mushin raliway crossing and Palmgrove are the hub of printing press in Lagos). Since that day, I no dey doubt say people dey work with forged documents even in big organization.

Baba, I be Lagos boi. I had all my education in Lagos, and grew up there. I have lived in Abule-Oja, Bariga, Iwaya, Ketu, Akoka, Oworonshoki, Shomolu, Fadeyi, Ogudu at different points in my life, and I only relocated to the East in the last decade for work. So, Oluwole was my backyard and I sabi am wella.

That being said, I am harping on the difficulty of forging documents in the 70's and 80's because of the unavailability of the technology, and technical knowhow to do so then.

Your post inadvertently confirms it cos your experience with your graphic designer colleague was in your 100L which I would put within the timeframe of the last decade.

Na when Computers begin dey rampant for Naija, Oluwole and forgery begin dey thrive, and this was definitely not in the 70's and 80's.

No doubt people have forged documents bearing the dates of that period, but if you check wella, most of those documents were procured from the mid 90's upwards.

If you say so but I was just thinking that it was the advent of computers and graphic design softwares that really made Oluwole and forgery of documents bloom, and in the 70's and 80's, computers no dey Naija like that.

All research projects of that period were typewritten, and there would have been limitations to the documents typewriters and printing presses could have churned out.

I doubt there was much forgery of credentials in the 70's and 80's. The technology wasn't available in the country then.

The minister's Bachelor and NYSC discharge certificates were forged recently, and backdated to his chosen dates.

My toddler started school last month. This is the 5th week. He's currently has catarrh (which I assume is due to the change of environment, and interaction with other kids). He's active, not running temperature, and is eating okay.

My wife wanted to give catarrh syrup but I insisted she shouldn't that the catarrh will run its course, and go on its own, and it'd help build his immune system. So we resorted to home remedy mixture of honey and lime, which we give 5mls morning and night.

The catarrh has lingered for about a week now. Wetin you advise make we do? and secondly, how does one mitigate the risk of school germs and infections in toddlers?

Additional info - Age is 1 year & 8 months. He was dewormed a month before he began school, preventively treated for malaria and his immunization record is up to date.

I have a suspicion Diclofenac and its other NSAID cousins (Alabukun, Feldene Felvin) PLUS all those herbal concoctions AND untreated/undiagnosed hypertension are the major reasons why so many young Nigerians develop kidney problems.

The major thing i will draw from this story is that you should stop rushing to take Diclofenac every time you have a musculoskeletal issue. Your kidneys will thank you. Panadol plus ice pack in the first 48hrs (heat pack after 48hrs) plus TIME will do the job.

Sometimes the treatment causes more calamity than the initial problem. If you take Diclofenac (and other NSAIDs) often enough and in high enough doses, you will create a problem for yourself.

Doki, me get serious waist pains. This morning I bent to drop my toddler on the sofa, and I felt this sudden sharp intense pain in my waist with the pain being more intense at the lower back spine-waist intersection with a hot burning sensation. I feel so much pain, and discomfort when changing from a previous position such as standing, sitting, bending, squatting, lying down etc.

A little history - I experienced this kinda waist pain about 4 months ago when our pumping machine spoilt, and I had to fetch water outside and carry the kegs up to my flat for a week before it was repaired. Then, I used diclofenac tablets and applied Deep Heat ointment, and it went away after about 2 weeks.

I have taken a tablet of Aceclofenac Paracetamol Chlorzoxazone tablet,, applied Ero Arike balm to massage my waist and I feel a bit better but I'm wondering if there's more to it
