Yakubu played his best football for Nigeria many years ago in the 'Battle of Omduman'. Since then, it's been steady downhill for him. He's only in the team cos of his past record and the fact that he and Amodu are from the same state - Edo. Based on current form, he ain't even good enough to play for U-17's.

Too late to cry over spilt milk. Femi Ajilore, Olubayo Adefemi, Dele Adeleye and Micheal Eneramo should have made the 23 man team in the First place . Now we're stuck with some very bad and pathetic players e.g Obinna Nwaneri, Yusuf Mohammed who are not even good enough to play for the U-17's and many injured players. Amodu got it wrong from the very beginning. I just hope he wins tomorrow.

Some1 should please tell me what someone like Obinna Nwaneri is doing in the S.E. That guy has never been good and will never be good and this is a FACT.

This is the comment Chidi Nwanu (Ex-Nigerian International & member of USA '94 World cup team) made on the match between Nigeria and Egypt. I agree 100% with the bolded parts. We need to adopt Siasia's Olympic defence line of  Adeleye, Apam, Adefemi, Chibuzor and add the likes of Echiejile, Taiwo, Odiah from the present team AND entice the likes of Aogo and Nedum Onuoha  to play for us at the World Cup.

Maybe but I think it's has more to do with the attitude of the players than the coach.

Notice I haven't really commented on our team's performance yesterday? I'm still reserving my comments till after our match against Benin Republic.

Wolfsburg striker Obafemi Martins has left the Nigerian squad to see his specialist in Europe after he complained of persistent pain on his recently operated shin

Eagles media officer, Peterside Idah, confirmed the departure of the striker Wednesday morning.

"Martins has gone back to Europe to see his specialist as regards the problem with his shin. He has complained of pains on his right shin, which the experts said should not be the case after he underwent surgery recently," Idah told MTNFootball.

Martins did not take part in Wednesday morning's shake-up in at the training ground in Benguela, which is a walking distance from the Eagles Hotel Praia Morena. The top team official insisted that Martins will be back in time for Saturday's make-or-mar Group C match against Benin here in Benguela.

Idah confirmed that Locomotiv Moscow striker Osaze Odemwingie has also resumed full training with the team after an infection.
